Morticia laughed at Klaus’s jokes about her childhood in the kitchen, as he reminded her of the time she wanted to be a dancer, thinking that since Vincent had the talent, she did too.
She recalled standing in front of the whole family, including her father, and announcing that she wanted to perform. They all tried to hold their laughter, except Klaus, who laughed as if there was no tomorrow. Morticia got upset and started chasing him around the house.
“I hate you,” Morticia muttered as she chopped vegetables.
“What are you wearing for Vincent’s show tomorrow?” Klaus asked, changing the topic.
“Hmm… it’s a surprise,” she whispered playfully.
“The one that’s going to show off the shape of your ass and its curves. Please don’t wear that,” he said, and Morticia gasped, glancing at the entrance to make sure her mother wasn’t there, before glaring at Klaus.
“Are you insane?” she shot him a look.
“Kind of,” he shrugged.
“Well, that’s what I’m going to wear,” she decided to play along.
Klaus’s face turned serious. “You’re joking, right?”
“Nah. I got the dress yesterday. It’s really beautiful and will make men drool over me…”
“Stop, or I’ll kiss you,” he warned, making her face turn red. She glanced at the door again, checking for her mother, but it was still clear.
Klaus smirked at her reaction. “Your face is all red; you look like Mr. Krabs. That’s the guy who loves money in your favorite cartoon, right?”
“Yeah… and you,” Morticia pointed at him, “are Squidward!”
“What?” Klaus grabbed the pot cover to check his reflection. “I don’t look ugly! Why would you compare me to him? Damn, I’m so hurt right now… so you think I’m ugly?”
“No… that’s not what I meant…”
“So you think I’m handsome?” he teased her with a smirk.
“Uhmm… I… I don’t know,” she averted her gaze and continued chopping.
Klaus just smiled, watching her.
“Stop staring at me.”
“Why?”
“You’re not letting me concentrate… ahh!” she winced as she accidentally cut herself with the knife.
“Damn! Are you okay?” Klaus noticed the small cut on her finger. “You’re bleeding,” he said, taking her hand.
“I’m fine; it’s just a small cut…”
“Come here.” He led her to the sink and washed the blood from her finger.
“Is everything alright?” Ava stepped into the kitchen, looking worried.
“Bunnie hurt herself,” Klaus replied for Morticia.
Ava sighed and scolded, “I told you to be careful, didn’t I?”
“It wasn’t her fault; it was mine. I was distracting her… please treat the wound, I’ll finish up dinner,” Klaus offered.
“No, help her treat the wound. I’ll finish here,” Ava decided.
Klaus nodded and led Morticia to the living room while Ava returned to the kitchen, surprised by Klaus’s slight change in behavior. But she shrugged it off, knowing Klaus sometimes acted like a decent person when in a good mood. It was surprising, though, that his father’s wedding hadn’t triggered one of his tantrums.
Morticia watched Klaus pull out the first aid kit, her eyes following his every movement. He knelt before her and took her hand, his touch warm.
“There’s no need for this. It’s not that seri-ah, that stings!” she winced as Klaus applied the ointment. He looked at her and shook his head.
“What a stubborn Bunnie,” he mumbled, and she rolled her eyes. But then her gaze softened again. She bit her lip, watching him as her heart fluttered at his recent behavior.
“Why are you doing this?” she found herself asking as he dressed the wound.
“Doing what?”
“Is it because you read my diary? Is that why you’re acting like you care?” she questioned, meeting his gaze.
“No,” he whispered.
“Then…” She was about to press further when her phone rang, flashing Rhea’s name. At the same time, Ava’s phone rang, and she went to pick it up.
“Morty… Morty, where are you?” Rhea’s voice was urgent.
“At home… why?” Morticia’s gaze met Klaus’s, who gave her a questioning look.
“It’s Sienna. She’s getting engaged soon to Vincent’s CEO. I think she’s cheating on Vincent. You need to tell him,” Rhea’s voice trembled, and Morticia felt a surge of panic.
Before Morticia could fully process Rhea’s words, Ava exclaimed from behind.
“What?! What did you say happened to my son?”
Morticia and Klaus stood at once, their eyes on Ava.
“Oh God.” Ava ran her fingers through her hair, her eyes tearing up.
“Mom, what’s wrong?” Morticia asked as her mother ended the call.
Ava took a deep breath. “Vincent got arrested.”
Both Morticia and Klaus’s eyes widened.
Ava continued. “They said he beat up President Peter, his CEO, who’s now in the hospital… turn on the television.”
Klaus grabbed the remote and did as she said while Morticia pieced together what had happened. Vincent had caught Sienna cheating with his CEO in the act.
That bitch!
The news was already covering it: The famous dancer Vincent Addams arrested for assault.
Klaus clenched his jaw and swiftly grabbed his keys, and Morticia followed. Ava quickly turned off the stove and joined them after locking the door.
They drove to the station to get Vincent.
Morticia felt tears rolling down her face. Was Vincent okay? He must be devastated right now.
When they arrived, they found a crowd of reporters at the entrance. Without wasting time, they rushed to the door, only to find it locked.
“My son,” Ava panicked.
Klaus pulled out his phone and made a call.
In his office, the station chief’s phone rang. He frowned when he saw Klaus’s name on the screen, then sighed and picked up.
“I know why you’re here. Your friend almost killed the CEO of Moore Entertainment. This is-”
“I’m not here to bargain. Just let us in. We need to see him.”
The man took a deep breath. “Fine. For the sake of your father.”
The words made Klaus clench his jaw, but he suppressed his anger. Soon, an officer appeared at the entrance.
“Klaus Barnard?” the officer asked, and Klaus nodded.
“They’re with me too,” Klaus said, leading Ava and Morticia inside before the officer could respond.
They were escorted to the cell Vincent was in, and their hearts shattered at the sight.
