Morticia glanced under the table, her lips pouting as confusion etched across her face. She sat back up and searched her bag.
“You cool?” Jamie asked after ordering snacks for them.
“I can’t find my phone,” Morticia complained as she continued searching.
“Maybe you left it with Rhea,” Jamie suggested.
She sighed in frustration. “Can I have yours? I need to check.”
“Alright.” He pulled out his phone, unlocked it, and handed it over to her.
Morticia’s eyes landed on his wallpaper – it was a picture of her reading in the library. It seemed recent.
“I’m your wallpaper?”
“You’re my girlfriend… so why not?” He grinned, his aura cheerful.
Instead of calling her number, she opened Jamie’s gallery, and her eyes widened when she saw so many pictures of herself, taken without her knowledge. She scrolled down and found plenty more.
She frowned.
“When did you take all of these?”
“Is it wrong?”
Morticia’s lips twitched as she slid the phone back to him.
“I have something to tell you,” she said. Gosh, this might be hard, but she doesn’t have a choice.
Noticing the way she shifted nervously, Jamie sat up. “What is it?”
“I’ve thought about it, Jamie. About how I really feel, and I think it’s better if we part ways. I don’t want to hurt you and keep making promises I can’t keep. I can’t return your feelings. I swear I tried, but this isn’t working. I still don’t feel the connection. I’m so sorry,” she said quickly, pressing her lips together and breaking eye contact.
Jamie stayed silent for a long while.
“So, you’re breaking up with me?” His voice wavered, and she nodded.
“It’s better if we stay friends… uhm, if you’re cool with that…”
Suddenly, he reached out and grabbed her wrist. His action made her flinch.
“No, Morty… no. You can’t just break up with me, Morty. What did I do wrong? I’ve been trying hard to be cool, gentle, and sweet, like the kind of guy any girl would want. What am I doing wrong? Tell me.”
Morticia’s breath hitched. Her eyes settled on his grip – it was tight, and his gaze was intense, too.
“I just can’t do this anymore, so please, let go,” she said, wondering what had come over him.
“Is this about Klaus? I forgave you for the shit you did with him, and now you’re just going to-”
“Jamie, you’re hurting me!” She cut in, and Jamie seemed to snap out of it. He immediately let go of her.
“I… I am… sorry, I just couldn’t take it…” he stuttered.
“I have to go,” she said, cutting him off as she began to leave the cafe. Jamie started breathing heavily, his fists clenching.
Nica returned to her dorm that night, her eyes tired as she stepped into the kitchen to get some water. She lived with Zara now that Dimitri was gone and probably hated her for snitching.
The thought of Vincent clouded her mind. The guy loved his girlfriend so much, and she wondered if she would ever stand a chance.
No, she shouldn’t think about someone who was already taken, but she couldn’t help it.
Her thoughts shattered when she heard the entrance door opening and closing.
“Zara?” Nica called out, but there was no reply. Instead, she heard the crackling sound of chains.
Frowning, she stepped out of the kitchen, only to come face to face with her nightmare standing by the door.
How did he find her?
“Hello, sweetie,” Mr. Hanson greeted, wrapping the chain around his hand. He tilted his head and smirked.
“Did you miss me?”
That same night, Morticia descended the stairs and met Ava.
“Mom, I’m going to check on Klaus again,” she announced. She had gone earlier, but Klaus wasn’t home, so she asked the security to call her once he returned, and they did.
“Oh, wait, I prepared this for him. I’m sure he hasn’t eaten anything yet,” Ava said, handing over a bag to her.
“And tell him I said I’m sorry,” Ava added.
“Okay, Mom.”
As she reached Klaus’s place, she halted, seeing Josephine leaving, getting into her car, and driving away. Morticia caught a glimpse of Josephine wiping away her tears.
Anxiety grew inside her as she hurried in.
Her eyes found Klaus in the living room, seated on the floor with his head resting on the couch and his arms folded over his knees. An alcohol bottle sat beside him.
Klaus sensed her presence and looked up at her with tired eyes. Morticia’s heart leaped at his eyes contact.
He averted his gaze and shut his eyes again.
“You want another piece of my shitty side?” He asked on a hoarse voice
Morticia ignored his curt welcome and approached him.
“I bought you dinner and came to check up on you,” she said, dropping the meal on the table.
“I’m not hungry. Take it away,” he said, irritated. He made to drink.
“Klaus”
“Just go away, and be with boyfriend.” he almost raised his voice, his eyes meeting with hers.
“You’re so rude when you’re drunk,” she said, getting fed up with his rude manner. “I only came to help, okay? You don’t have to be mean about”
He stayed silent, eyes closed, and the room turned tense.
“I saw your mom outside…”
“Fuck, don’t” Klaus cut in. “I don’t wanna talk about her. You shouldn’t get on my nerves like you use to”
“She was crying Klaus. Did you yell at her. She is just trying to make you happy…”
“By keeping things away from me? She got another crucial secret and she is not letting it out. If she’s not going to tell me then i don’t wanna see her” he mumbled.
“Was that what you say to her? You don’t mean that, do you”
He stared at the ceiling, a sigh left his lips.
“No” he whispered and ran his fingers through his hair. “I thought she’ll let it out, but I guess I’ll remain in the dark. Forever maybe”
He continued, his voice full of hatred. “I can’t believe my dad invited me to his wedding. The fuck did he think I’ll show up like his little perfect son he is trying so hard to control. And watch him build another family, pretending to like me after all the shit he put I and my mom into”
Morticia bit her lips. She had never seen Klaus this hurt before and she wished to ease the pain. But she had no idea on what to do.
She sat beside him on the floor, not knowing what to say.
“I broke up with Jamie” she blurted in a low voice but he heard it because his gaze shifted to her.
“Why?” He asked, curious.
“I don’t feel the connection with him. Like he’s not the one for me” She replied.
“Then who is?”
‘You’ she wanted to say but she kept shut. “I don’t know”
Klaus chuckled.
“You’re such a cute liar” he mumbled, his mood lightening a bit.
“Mr. Wimp would be so heartbroken”
“Stop” she nudged at him.
“What about my answer Bunnie?” He questioned. She knew what he was talking about her pulse quickened.
“Would you like to?” He asked.
She couldn’t hold back. “You know my answer” she whispered and he suddenly lean close, eyes locked with hers and his face inches away.
“You need to say Bunnie” he whispered.
Morticia pulse quickened. She knew her deep desire. She swallowed, having an internal battle on what she was about to do.
“Yes”
Immediately that word left her mouth, Klaus crashed his lips on hers. His lips moved wild and demanded, nibbling her lips turn by turn.
“You make me feel things Bunnie, crazy things” he whispered to her, and held her thighs, lifted her and made her sit on his lap.
Their lips connected, and his hand reached for her zip…
Meanwhile, Jamie’s gaze was intently on Morticia’s picture.
‘I can’t do this anymore’ her words rang over and over in his head like painful bang.
After all his effort, she was going to throw him away. He had fallen in love with her, they first day he set his eyes on her.
He swore to have her by all means, he did and now she was taken away.
His eyes settled on his tracker. It revealed Morticia was in Klaus’s home. He stole her.
He stole her girl.
Jamie reached for his drawer, pulling out a gun, heading out.
“Jamie” his mother called and he gave her a cold look that made her shrink.
“Y… your dinner” she stuttered.
Jamie glanced over the untouched meal.
“I’ll have it… after I kill someone” he said in a dangerous tone and stepped out….
