“Your roommate seems cool… a bit mean, though,” Rhea said as they headed to the cafe.
“Yeah, she’s pretty nice if you’re patient with her.”
“Hm, she’s Sienna’s sister, right? I saw them arguing a moment ago,” Rhea said.
“Really? What were they arguing about?”
“I don’t know. It wasn’t very clear,” Rhea shrugged.
“Oh, by the way, Jamie confessed to me last night. He said he loves me,” Morticia said, and Rhea froze, eyes wide.
“No freaking way. He confessed?”
“Yeah, he did,” Morticia confirmed as they stepped into the cafe.
“Morty!” Jamie called from a corner of the cafe, waving at her. She smiled and led Rhea toward him.
“This is Rhea, and this is Jamie,” Morticia introduced them.
“Hi,” Jamie smiled while Rhea blinked.
“You kind of look familiar… Well, nice to meet you,” Rhea greeted Jamie with a handshake.
“I don’t think we’ve met, but… nice to meet you too. Morty talks about you a lot. If you were a guy, I’d be so jealous,” he joked, making the girls laugh. “I was about to invite Morty to a hangout party. You should come too.”
“A party?” Morticia and Rhea exchanged a glance.
___
Rhea fidgeted excitedly in her seat, waiting for Morticia. Rhea was a fun, extroverted person.
She was wearing a pretty purple dress that hugged her body perfectly.
“Morty?” she called excitedly, eager for their first college hangout together.
Morticia came out dressed in a peach top and jeans that flared just above her knees. Her makeup was light.
“Wow, you’re getting good at dressing up. Are you looking pretty for Jamie or Klaus?” Rhea teased.
“Stop it, Rhea, or I’ll kill you,” Morticia glared. She knew Klaus would be at the party-he was always there.
Soon, they arrived at the building, filled with students. Morticia clutched her purse tightly, making sure she had brought her inhaler with her.
Rhea gasped, “A swimming pool!”
Rhea loved swimming. She smiled, excitement bubbling up inside her.
“Let’s swim, Morty! This is going to be fun!” she chuckled.
“Nah, I’m good,” Morticia declined, then spotted Jamie sitting in a corner. She went to join him, while Rhea went to change for the pool.
Rhea soon emerged in a swimsuit and dove in. Her head popped up from the water, and she exclaimed, “Woo!!!”
“She’s such a drama queen,” Morticia chuckled.
“Want to join?” Jamie asked, standing and pulling off his shirt.
“What? No.”
Jamie chuckled and stripped down to his boxers before jumping in.
“Come on, Morty!” Jamie called.
“Fine, I’ll be right back. Let me change,” she chuckled and stood to leave.
As she walked away, a dark gaze followed her. The guy quickly texted someone.
___
Morticia was busy removing her jewelry when she heard a click on the door. She frowned and tried to open it.
It was locked.
“What?” she muttered, trying several times to no avail. Several cans were thrown into the room, releasing thick smoke.
Morticia panicked-not only because she was trapped but because the smoke was triggering her asthma.
Whoever did this knew about her condition.
“Help!!” she yelled, but it only worsened her breathing. She had left her bag on the table, and her inhaler was in it.
Her breaths came in shallow gasps, her vision blurring. She coughed, her lungs burning as she desperately tried to draw in air.
Memories of the fire flashed before her eyes.
*Dad!* her tiny voice echoed in her head. The memory of a stone crushing her father, followed by her heavy scream in the memory. It made her head spin.
“Help,” she gasped, tears trickling down her face. Her body weakened, and she collapsed to the floor, her vision fading as her eyes slowly fluttered shut.
Was this the end for her?
The door suddenly smashed open, revealing Vincent.
“Morty!” he shouted, rushing to gather her in his arms and carrying her out of the room.
___
Meanwhile, in another room, Dimitri chuckled as one of her people reported, “Done.”
She drew a cigarette and began to smoke. “No mistakes?” she questioned.
“None… but why are you after her? She’s Vincent’s sister,” one of the tattooed men asked. Dimitri shot him a glare.
“Whatever. Now I can have Klaus all to myself once she’s dead,” Dimitri laughed, her voice echoing through the room.
She slid her heels onto the floor and stood up, adjusting her revealing black dress, designed to catch Klaus’s attention. She knew exactly where to find him.
“I hope she dies. Sin’s been too protective of her. Besides, she hasn’t paid for what she did to me,” Dimitri chuckled, heading for the door.
But as she opened it, her eyes locked onto a pair of cold, black-metallic eyes. They were like the eyes of the devil, full of unforgiving malice. She could feel his murderous intent.
Dimitri froze, a chill running down her spine. Fear and confusion gripped her so hard it made it hard for her to breathe.
“Going somewhere?” He questioned with sinister smirk. His voice dripped with danger and bloodlust.
“S…”
His name went back to her throat as he grabbed her neck like a vice, choking her hard. Her vein began to show on her face immediately.
His jaw clenched hard, breath filled with terror. The other guys behind stood alert.
“I told you I’m gonna break the rules of not hurt a woman…
… Right now. I’m gonna hurt you so bad… Bitch.”
