The morning sun bathed the camp in golden light as the cast gathered in the common area. The production team had announced that their next task would involve an outdoor challenge, prompting excitement and mild anxiety among the participants.
Daisy sat with Veronica and Clara, sipping on freshly brewed coffee. The trio had grown inseparable in just a few days, their banter filling the air with warmth and laughter.
“Alright, listen up!” the director’s booming voice cut through the chatter. The cast members turned their attention to the center, where the director stood with a clipboard. “Today’s task is a paired challenge. Each pair will navigate the surrounding forest and complete a series of checkpoints. This will test your teamwork, problem-solving, and endurance.”
Excitement rippled through the group as the director began calling out names for the pairs.
“Veronica and Alex,” he announced, causing Veronica to grin and give Daisy a wink.
“Clara and Mason,” came the next pairing, to which Clara groaned playfully. “He’s so tall, I’ll need a ladder just to keep up!”
The director scanned his list and looked up. “Daisy and Ryan.”
Daisy’s heart sank slightly. Ryan was known for his competitive streak and blunt personality, but she managed a polite smile as Ryan approached her.
“Well, looks like we’re stuck with each other,” Ryan said, his tone light but edged with impatience.
Daisy nodded, her thoughts already drifting. Something about this task unsettled her, though she couldn’t quite pinpoint why.

Into the Forest
Each pair was given a map and a set of clues to guide them through the forest. Daisy and Ryan set off, their pace steady as they worked together to decipher the first clue.
“Here,” Daisy said, pointing to the map. “The first checkpoint should be near that large oak tree.”
Ryan nodded, following her lead. “You’re pretty good at this.”
“I’ve had practice,” Daisy replied, her tone distant as flashes of her past life surfaced in her mind-navigating perilous situations, solving problems under pressure.
As they neared the first checkpoint, Ryan suddenly froze, his eyes narrowing.
“What’s wrong?” Daisy asked, following his gaze.
“There,” Ryan whispered, nodding toward a shadow moving in the distance.
Daisy squinted, her heart rate spiking. It looked like a person, but they disappeared before she could get a clear view.
“Probably another crew member,” she said, though her voice betrayed her doubt.
Ryan shrugged, but his unease mirrored hers. They continued to the first checkpoint, where they completed the task without issue.
By the second checkpoint, the tension between them had eased, and they found themselves laughing over a silly mistake Ryan made while solving the puzzle.
“You’re not as bad as I thought,” Ryan admitted with a grin.
“Thanks, I guess?” Daisy replied, rolling her eyes playfully.

The Cliffhanger
As they approached the third checkpoint, the air grew colder, and an eerie silence settled over the forest. Daisy’s instincts screamed that something was wrong.
“Let’s pick up the pace,” she said, glancing around nervously.
Ryan nodded, but before they could move, a loud snap echoed behind them. Both of them turned, their eyes scanning the dense foliage.
“Who’s there?” Ryan called out, his voice firm but edged with fear.
No response.
Daisy’s grip tightened on the map as her heart pounded. She took a step back, her eyes fixed on the trees. Suddenly, a figure emerged-a man dressed entirely in black, his face hidden beneath a mask.
“Run!” Daisy yelled, grabbing Ryan’s arm and pulling him forward.
They sprinted through the forest, adrenaline coursing through their veins. The sound of heavy footsteps followed them, growing louder with each passing second.
“Here!” Ryan shouted, pointing to a narrow path.
They veered onto it, only to find themselves face-to-face with another masked figure. Trapped.
“Stay behind me,” Ryan said, his voice low and determined.
Daisy’s mind raced as the two figures advanced. She tried to steady her breathing, her instincts from her past life urging her to think clearly.
Then, just as one of the men lunged toward them, a deafening crack echoed through the forest, and the figure crumpled to the ground.
Daisy and Ryan turned in shock to see a third figure stepping out of the shadows. He wore a tailored black coat, his face partially obscured by a mask, but his piercing eyes locked onto Daisy’s.
Ezekiel.
“Go back to the others,” Ezekiel commanded, his voice calm but cold. “Now.”
Daisy hesitated, her eyes wide with confusion and recognition.
“Daisy, move!” Ryan urged, pulling her along as Ezekiel turned to face the remaining assailant.
As they ran, Daisy couldn’t shake the feeling that her past and present were colliding in ways she could no longer ignore.
As she ran, she couldn’t help but look back, catching a final glimpse of Ezekiel in the distance, his figure shrouded in mystery and danger.
