“The consequences will be yours to bear if you decline,” remarked the man, his voice filled with chilling menace. “Don Giovanni is not someone to be taken lightly.”
Sofia felt her heart racing as she grasped the gravity of the situation. If she declined, she would be targeted for assassination. However, if she complied with the Don’s requests, she would be betraying Marco and potentially facing his anger too.
“I require some time for reflection,” she whispered with her voice barely heard.
The man gave a nod, keeping his gaze on her face.
Sofia’s mind flooded with fear and uncertainty as the man made to depart. She was unsure of whom to have faith in, and she was clueless on how to get out of the snare that was laid out for her.
After shutting the door on the man, she fell to the ground, tears flowing from her eyes.
Whispering, her voice filled with fear, she expressed her inability to do it. I am unable to.
All of a sudden, a knock could be heard at the door, causing her heart to race as she anxiously pondered the identity of the visitor.
She stared at the person in the doorway, with her gaze fixed on them.
Sofia heard a whispered voice, causing her breath to pause when she recognized it as familiar.
“Her voice shaking, she spoke, ‘Marco.'”
Marco walked in, keeping his gaze locked on her.
“I know about the situation,” he stated, his voice quiet and threatening. “I am present to assist you.”
Sofia felt her heart pounding as she recognized that Marco was the sole person on her side in this risky situation.
“What options do we have?” Sofia inquired, her voice trembling with terror. “The Don will continue until he retrieves the diamond.”
Marco gave a nod, with his face displaying a tough and inscrutable expression.
He said we need to come up with a plan to escape this situation, speaking in a low and menacing tone. “We must leave this place soon.”
Sofia was overwhelmed with thoughts as she attempted to come up with a resolution.
“Perhaps we should consider getting out of the city,” she suggested quietly. “We have the option to begin anew in a different location.”
Marco shook his head, his eyes shining brightly in the dark.
“His influence stretches far beyond this town,” he commented with a menacing tone. “We need to come up with a plan to outwit him.”
Sofia’s heart raced as she understood the grimness of their predicament.
She inquired, her voice shaking, “What if we simply handed him the diamond?” Perhaps he would allow us to leave.
Marco once again shook his head, his eyes showing a firm and unreadable expression.
“He will not,” he stated, his voice icy and menacing.
Sofia’s thoughts raced as she attempted to find a solution to this challenging dilemma. She was aware that they couldn’t escape the Don by running and that they couldn’t negotiate with him.
Out of nowhere, a thought entered her mind.
“Should we consider striking a bargain with him?” she inquired, her voice shaking in fear. “We offer him the diamond, and he allows us to leave.”
Marco smiled, his eyes shining brightly in the dim light.
“He may be sufficiently desperate to agree,” he whispered, his voice quiet and menacing.
While Sofia and Marco talked about their plan, they understood the need to act fast. They were unable to spare any additional time.
“We will arrange a meeting with Don Giovanni,” Marco said in a low and menacing tone. “We will hand over the diamond to him, and after that we will vanish.”
Sofia agreed with a fast beating heart as she weighed the dangers of their plan.
“Are you certain this is going to be successful?” she inquired, her voice quivering with anxiety.
Marco grinned, his eyes shining in the dim light.
Sofia was intrigued by the mysterious secrets hidden behind Marco’s smile.
“Believe me,” he whispered, his voice hushed and threatening. “I have some sneaky plans ready.”
Sofia nodded, her doubts causing her heart to beat faster.
She inquired, her voice shaking, “What happens if he doesn’t honor his promise?”
Marco’s grin disappeared, his gaze turning cold as he looked at her.
“We will then need to vanish completely,” he stated, his voice filled with iciness and menace.
Having a plan in place, they realized the importance of acting promptly. They were unable to spare any extra time and could not take the chance of being found out.
“We’ll arrange the meeting for this evening,” Marco said in a menacing tone. “The Don will anticipate your arrival, and we will be prepared to vanish.”
Sofia nodded, feeling her heart racing as she anticipated what was going to occur next.
“What if he figures out our plan?” she inquired with a quivering voice.
Marco grinned, his eyes shining in the dimness.
As darkness descended upon the city, Marco escorted Sofia to a remote park, away from the watchful gaze of the Mafia.
“Here is the place where we will encounter the Don,” he conveyed in a hushed and threatening tone. “Remain close to me, and refrain from speaking unless instructed by me.”
Sofia’s heart raced as she nodded and followed him through the darkness.
Upon arriving at the agreed meeting spot, Sofia noticed a figure standing in the shadows, his silhouette easily recognizable.
“Marco spoke in a low and dangerous voice, “Don Giovanni.”
Don Giovanni entered the light, focusing his gaze on Sofia as he observed her.
“Is the diamond in your possession?” he inquired, his tone icy and threatening.
Sofia gave a slight nod, feeling her hands trembling as she took out the tiny, sparkling gem from her pocket.
Don Giovanni grinned, his eyes flashing with avarice.
“Give it to me,” he whispered, his voice filled with menace.
Sofia’s heart raced with fear and uncertainty as she presented the diamond.
Don Giovanni grinned while he accepted the diamond from Sofia’s trembling hand, his eyes shining with triumph.
“You have made a smart choice,” he spoke in a low and menacing tone. “Now, as I said before, you are released.”
Sofia felt her heart racing when she understood that they had achieved their goal.
“Grateful,” she murmured, her voice shaking with relief.
When she was about to go, a loud, piercing noise caught her attention, and suddenly everything turned dark.
Sofia suddenly woke up, feeling a throbbing headache and her sight unclear. She attempted to shift position, only to realize her hands and feet were tied.
“Did you really believe it would be so simple?” a voice asked, its demeanor icy and threatening.
Sofia’s heart quickened when she discovered that Don Giovanni had deceived them.
“Tell me, what did you do?” she inquired, her voice trembled with fear.
Don Giovanni stated firmly, with a menacing tone, “I always keep my promises.” I did not say you would survive and leave this place.
