” What the hell do you mean by Gavin made a deal with the devil?” Gil nearly choked on his wine when Gabriel told him about Ethan’s dream and his thoughts on it.
Gabriel pushed a glass of water to him. ” Not the actual devil. Antonio’s brother.”
Gil drank the water too quickly and looked at Gabriel with wide eyes. ” No shit, you mean Alejandro?”
Gabriel shifted on his chair. He’d come to a club that played hip-hop songs cranked to the loudest so no one would be able to monitor his conversation properly.
” You know him?”
” Yes, eyebrows pierced. Tattoos. Scars. Silver teeth. He looked like he’d been through a fire. ”
Gabriel looked around the club to see if anyone was watching him.
He leaned forward and asked, ” How did you know him and why haven’t you shared this information with me before? ” Gabriel gasped. ” Don’t tell me you struck a deal with him. ”
” Oh, for the love of Mary, do I look that stupid to do such a thing? ”
” I can’t be too certain you don’t. “Gabriel rolled his eyes. ” Tell me how you know him. ”
” He’d visited Ariana’s house before. Frequently in fact. He seemed to be a good friend of her father. A couple of times, I overheard them talking about taking over the most powerful countries in the world. Putting one of their people in every sector of the world so they could bring news to them more efficiently and other messed up shit.”
” Alejandro caught me eavesdropping and beat the shit out of me. Remember when I came back with so many bruises, you asked me what happened and I used wild s! x to cover it up. ” Gil laughed.
” I never believed you but I wonder why I didn’t pester you to tell me. ” Gabriel took a sip of his Pepsi.
” That’s because you are naturally an indifferent a**hole who only gives a damn about women he’s interested in. ”
” Don’t change the topic. ” Gabriel warned, frowning.
” I’m done talking. That’s all I know about Alejandro except he’s in the Mafia and makes deadly deals.”
Gabriel leaned into the chair again and sighed. He wondered what the Mafias were up to. He rubbed his neck stressfully. His knees bumped the table as he moved his legs, nearly making his Pepsi can fall.
” Gavin must have been in a very tight spot to accept his deal.” Gil worded. ” But, are you certain he did?”
” No, I’m not sure.”
” I’m surprised you look worried. Aren’t you supposed to be jubilating? Your rival will be murdered soon.”
” Must you make a joke out of everything?” Gabriel glared at him.
” Do I look like I’m joking? I’m as serious as f**k or wait, are you both friends now?” Gabriel laughed heartily.
” Can fire and water be companions?” Gabriel handed the waiter the empty wine glasses on the table. ” Gavin matters to Sydney and her kids so it concerns me.”
Gil smiled at him. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
” You made the right choice. Torture isn’t always the best answer.”
Gabriel grew uncomfortable at where the conversation was heading and changed the topic.
” I’m surprised you aren’t with Sofia, you spend literally every minute with her now.”
Red tinted Gil’s cheek. He looked away and cupped his cheek so Gabriel wouldn’t see him blushing and tease him about it.
” I don’t spend every minute with her, plus, is it unholy that I decided to spend time with you.”
” No, you didn’t, I called you here.” Gabriel deadpanned. ” I’m sure she’s spending New Year with her parents.”
Gil couldn’t stop a groan from leaving his lips. ” She’s been gone since boxing day. I feel like crap; she said she isn’t returning till the fifth.”
” Give her some break, you are too clingy.”
” No, I’m not. I spend five hours a day without her since we’ve been dating.”
Gabriel’s jaw dropped to the ground. After a brief moment, he burst into laughter. Gil was so clueless but Sofia didn’t look like she minded being around him 24/7.
” You are almost forty, Gilbert; since you are in a mutual relationship, I think you should take her to the alter already,” Gabriel suggested, corking a teasing brow.
Gil scratched the nap of his neck. He seemed to be considering it.
” I think it’s too early for that, don’t you think?”
Gabriel shrugged. ” It’s a suggestion, go with what your heart and mind tells you.” A troublesome smile tugged the corners of his lips. ” At least marry her before she gets pregnant, it’d happen eventually if you don’t learn to control your d**k.”
Gil grinned. ” It’d be my happiness getting her pregnant. You’ll stop calling me Gil but instead, Daddy Gilbert.”

” Baby, there’s good news!” Aaron shouted, holding his ringing phone as he ran to Avery’s room.
Avery had no other choice but to go back to Aaron. He didn’t hesitate to accept her back. When she narrated what Gabriel had done to her to him, he promised to help her. She asked him to find a lonely place where they could stay, a gun, and any information he could gather about Gabriel.
Avery got up from the bed quickly, startled. She’d almost thought it was one of Gabriel’s men running to capture her.
” Wha… Have you found anything?”
” Yes, I couldn’t find anything exactly solid about him. Most of his data has been wiped out from the internet, but I found out he had a wife once. She was cheating on him with a guy who apparently was Gavin’s driver.”
A proud grin spread across Aaron’s face. After giving her the news, he had his hopes high that she’d accept him back.
” He’s been trying to reach out to the house telephone in Gavin’s house. I was able to link the telephone number to my phone and he’s calling right now.” Aaron handed her the phone.
Avery’s eyes widened on instinct and she quickly took the phone from him. She cupped his cheek, pressed her lips hard on his, and laughed.
” It’s Logan calling?”
Aaron was a mess of red, ” Yes, baby now answer the call.”
