“This is not right! I won’t take it! I earned that spot fair and square!” Tara threw a fit in Georgina’s office.
“Was this your plan? Did you plan to sabotage me?!” She yelled at Georgina, looking berserk.
“You need to fix this! I should be Luna! She can’t take my position! If you don’t do something I will-”
“That’s where I’m going to stop you, Tara.” Georgina snapped, having had enough of her senseless display of anger.
“You will not threaten me in my office.” She said in a stern voice. “I don’t care how angry you are, but if you won’t respect me then I’ll be forced to ask you out of my office.”
Tara didn’t let up. “I know you poisoned him.” She said, “Was it the same poison you gave me to get Augusta removed from the equation?”
“Yes. And you foolishly used it to kill Candice.” Georgina finished with a smirk. “You act so smart and yet you can’t see how much of a fool you have been.”
“Do you think Zeus hasn’t figured out that the same poison used to kill him was the one found in Zoey’s food?” She tsked. “Even a baby would have that figured by now.”
Tara froze. She hadn’t thought of that aspect of things just yet. Georgina smiled at her reaction. It was exactly what she hoped for.
“Any stupid mistake and you will be dead before you can speak a word.” Georgina said, further paralysing Tara.
“You can’t expect me to sit still and watch her take my spot.” Tara said in a sober tone. “You wanted her dead, I made a mistake -”
“That you did. Unfortunately, we can’t take her out now.” Georgina remarked. “If you hadn’t been so self centered, you would have seen that she was the threat and not the other girls.”
“I suspected they had something going on, something they were hiding. No wonder they got along so well. She was his mate.” Georgina gritted.
Tara’s heart clenched painfully. “Please, tell me what to do. I promise never to disrespect you. Just… help me get rid of her.”
“I’m afraid there will be no getting rid of anyone.” Georgina announced with a huff. “We can’t cry over spilt milk.”
“You want me to accept this?” Tara’s lips quivered. “How can I accept that my years of hard work has gone down the drain?”
“Of course not.” Georgina stared her in the eye. “There is another way to go about this. But it’s not for the faint hearted.”
“I will do it. Just tell me and I will do it.”
Georgina stared at the young woman before her with discerning eyes. Although she has insulted and lost her favour, she couldn’t pass up an opportunity to use her as a pawn.
Tara was controlled by her obsession with Zeus and the position of Luna. She could wield it as a weapon for now and get rid of her later.
“There is a way to become Luna regardless of his mate.” Georgina said and Tara paid rapt attention.
“Until the Luna rites are performed, there is an opportunity for any willing female to challenge the Alpha’s mate for the position as Luna.”
Tara faltered. “Challenge her? Alpha would kill me…”
“Of course not.” Georgina took a seat. “It’s a tradition the Alpha knows of. It’s been passed down by the moon goddess herself to prove the future Luna’s ability.”
“The Alpha’s mate stands the chance of losing her position if she is defeated at the Luna games.”
“Unless you are not interested-”
“I’m interested!” Tara piped. “What do I have to do? What is the Luna games?”
A smile danced in Georgina’s eyes. “Before I tell you anything, you have to prove to me that you are serious minded and willing to take this path.”
Tara blinked in confusion. “How do I do that?”
“By challenging the Alpha’s mate.”
Later that evening, June woke up for the nth time, since Augusta’s wolf found out that Zeus was her true mate, both animals held control as they marked and mated over and over again.
The entire room reeked of the residual of their intense intercourse for the past eight to ten hours. June was in her birthday suit and tried to sneak out of Zeus’ bed until an arm snaked around her waist.
She stiffened when she realized she was caught. “Um… my wolf’s gone!” She announced, hoping that would prevent Zeus’ ravenous wolf from another rigorous round of sex.
She didn’t think she could handle it in the way Augusta’s wolf did while in control of the body.
Throughout the night, Her body was bent in unbelievable angles, and sore. She needed some time alone to check the nature of the damage down there.
“I know…” A voice said and she felt goosebumps grace her skin. “It isn’t Zeus either.”
June took in a sharp inhale and her body froze. Her words were suddenly stuck in her throat, unable to believe it, unable to turn around.
“Look at me June…” the voice begged, “Please…”
June remained in her position, shaking and blinking back tears. Zeus’ arm around her tightened and he planted a kiss behind her ears.
“Rafe…?” she breathed, shaking, “Is that you?”
He placed a kiss between her neck. “I begged.” She felt his tears drop on her neck. She wanted to kiss him so bad. “I begged them for an hour with you.”
“I need you to look at me, wifey.” He begged. “Just this once, let me see you.”
June turned around slowly, and met the striking brown orbs she knew so well. The love and pain that it held reminded her of one man.
Rafael Ambrose.
June watched him lean closer and her heart was close to combustion. Their lips met and he kissed slowly, exploring her mouth like it was the sweetest thing.
If she didn’t believe it was him before, she was convinced now. Zeus wasn’t this gentle. He wasn’t this affectionate.
This was her Rafael. Maybe not in the flesh, but definitely in the soul. Rafael kissed her whole, taking his time as he apologized in ways words couldn’t cover.
“Why?” June cried when he plunged into her. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
Rafael held her down missionary style on the bed. “I was selfish.” He thrusted into her like his life depended on it.
Every single thrust sent her to the brink of oblivion. “I didn’t want you to see me in my weakest state. I was so stupid, June. I will spend the rest of my life paying for that mistake.”
More cries of ecstasy were heard.
“Would you ever forgive me? Would you ever return to me, baby?” June’s heart was full with Rafael.
Memories of their marriage, Luis and everything she bottled up came bursting through. “I love you, baby.” He whispered into her ears. “I never stopped.”
“I can’t stop…” He sent her over the edge with a powerful thrust. “I don’t want to…”
“Please… please give me the privilege to be yours.” More kisses, “give me permission to love you.”
“Be mine again…”
June knew when Rafael rescinded into Zeus’ body. Tears poured out of her eyes and she let her heart whisper the words she wasn’t able to say to him.
“I love you, Rafe.”
