Maya suggested that Priya didn’t want to have the other healthy food, and she didn’t want to make her eat something she didn’t want.
“I think it’s great, what do you think Priya?” Levi questioned.
“I’m good with the cucumber sandwich, I don’t hate it,” Priya smiled, glad that they weren’t forcing her to eat something she didn’t want.
She already wasn’t feeling well, the nauseating feeling was just too high, and there was no way she could swallow anything. She detested it with her whole life.
“Great, I am going to bring it quickly, just wait for some time,” Levi walked away.
“Maya, I wanted to ask you something,” Priya’s face grew serious as the words left her mouth.
“Ask.”
“Can I reject my mate, Priyank?” The bile rose in her throat. “I know my mother wanted to reject my father too, and she accepted him, but he was in love with her, which is why she accepted him. Priyank, on the other hand, is toxic for my life.”
Maya scrutinized Priya. “Mates can reject, but that depends on your wolf too. The curse needs to be broken, so she can come in command. Maybe then you can talk about it. But I doubt if she will even agree. Rejection is so much painful for wolves, they never do it, until the situation is fatal of course.”
Priya’s lips dewed up as she heard Maya’s words. Now, if she clearly remembered, she had lost her consciousness twice and didn’t remember a lot of things. He always looked like he had seen a ghost.
So, she believed it was her wolf thing, which was trying to break the curse for her mate. At least in her head, this was the only logic that made sense in this situation.
Hearing these things and recalling the stories she had read before, which she had only thought were fantasy, now they were reality. She for sure believed the wolf in her wouldn’t reject Priyank no matter what.
As far as her knowledge went, wolves were always truly obsessively in love with their mates. From the day she woke in this hospital after hearing her wolf voice in her unconscious, somehow her understanding of things started becoming clearer than before.
She was book smart, but somehow now she felt smart enough to take this whole stuff – which she wouldn’t have been before.
Maybe it was all because of her wolf, or what other reason could there be for her feeling like accepting this whole story so easily?
Denial was what she would be doing if she didn’t have any wolf in her, because the human part that was now dominating her was still in denial.
The little wolf part, which was caged inside her due to the curse, was what made her agreeable to all this.
“You don’t have to think too hard, Priya. Give it time. I think he does love you, even though the way he treated you before was somehow trash. But when you were unconscious, the guilt-dripping eyes and panic were all written on his face,” Maya’s voice directed the words, the same way she felt when she saw Priyank.
No doubt he looked dangerous – not just in appearance, but in reality he was dangerous. But she couldn’t deny the feelings she had seen in him; they were something she didn’t even have words for.
“He is obsessed, Maya. He doesn’t love me. How can love make someone hurt you? I don’t feel that it is love,” Priya’s voice was filled with panic.
“I won’t deny it, because you’ve been with him and I’ve only seen him today. But I can sense people, Priya. My hair has turned white from living and understanding people, and I can tell he is dangerous for sure. But he is purely in love with you, maybe not the love definition everyone has. Critically.”
Maya’s words sank in slowly for Priya, stirring a conflict within her. She wanted to believe Maya, who seemed to understand people deeply, but her own experiences with Priyank were so tumultuous.
“I know you can read people more than I ever could, Maya,” Priya said, her voice tinged with uncertainty. “But what if his love is not what I need? What if it’s suffocating me?”
Maya nodded, her expression serious. “That’s a valid concern, Priya. Love should uplift and support you, not bring you down. But sometimes, love can be complicated.”
Priya frowned, trying to make sense of it all. “He is not a wolf. And what if rejecting him is the right thing for me?”
Maya smiled. “You have to listen to your heart and your wolf, Priya. If rejecting him is what you feel is right, then that’s what you should do. Your happiness and well-being matter the most.”
“Then what about the curse? Is there another way it can be broken?”
“No. Lima is a skilled witch, and if she says the only way to break it is,” Maya paused, feeling a bit uncomfortable, “to have sex with him, then that’s the only way. And I don’t think that after your wolf has had a taste of him, she will let him go. Rejection seems impossible in your situation, even though I do want you to do what you want.”
Priya huffed. “I have no choice, right? I have to accept it, no matter how much it hurts me?”
“It might change, Priya. People change for those they love. If you both want it and if he can change, then you may have a different relationship. It’s all about wanting it.”
Priya sighed, the weight of the situation pressing down on her. “I just wish things were simpler. It feels like my choices are being stripped away.”
Maya gave her a sympathetic look. “I know, Priya. It’s a lot to take in.”
Priya nodded, appreciating Maya’s support.
“Take all the time you need,” Maya replied gently. “We’re not in a rush. This is your life and your decision. But the curse needs to be broken for sure, so even if you don’t want to, you have to sleep with him.”
Priya felt like she might faint again. She knew what sex was; she was educated enough. But in her wildest dreams, she wouldn’t want to sleep with Priyank.
