“Mom, are you joking? We said nothing in front of her, but that doesn’t mean you can just do this. He’s a billionaire; he’s going to kill us all,” Levi grumbled, dashing into Maya’s room with Rish following behind, his face solemn.
“She’s right, Mom. She’s dangerous. Didn’t we tell you how he can flip and kill us for a ring that day? And now we have his runaway bride with us, who he’s probably going to find,” Rish completed his words, looking at his mother who sat in a chair, gazing out the window.
“Should we be scared? How will he find us here? Don’t be scared; we’re deep in the forest. Nobody can find us,” Maya replied nonchalantly, glancing at Levi and Rish as she spoke.
“That doesn’t mean we’re safe, Mom. If he even gets a clue, he’s going to dig our graves,” Levi panicked.
“Remember the story I told you long ago?”
“Mom, is this the time for a story? Did you even hear what Levi just said?”
“She’s the exact girl, the exact person we all need. We can’t send her away. She’s royal blood. I can smell it in her. I can’t sense her wolf, but she’s our Queen,” Maya stood up, sweating, her eyes glowing dark.
Levi and Rish’s jaws dropped at their mom’s words.
“Are you sure, Mom? Didn’t you say all royal blood died 18 years ago? How can she be of royal blood?” Levi questioned.
“I can’t be wrong. I served my whole life to royal people as a doctor. You think I’m joking? I can smell it. I don’t know why I can’t sense her wolf, but her royal blood was screaming, due to her bleeding,” Maya exclaimed, clenching her fists.
“Now? What are we going to do, Mom? It’s not safe,” Rish stuttered.
“Don’t know, but we can’t send her away. She’s our Queen. That means we have to protect her till our last breath. She’s the heir of our pack. We have to send the signal to the pack as soon as possible.”
“How? You already left that pack after everyone died,” Levi whispered, trying to keep her composure.
As they grappled with the realization that they had finally found the one and only heir, for whom they worked in the human world and for whom their mother left the pack, they were on the verge of going crazy. They decided to live here, away from the pack, in their house.
They were kids when their mother decided to leave the pack, and they still weren’t that powerful to sense wolves. Because their mother left the pack and cut ties, they couldn’t connect with their own wolf. Even their mother couldn’t feel her wolf.
But Levi knew her mother never judged things wrong, and this was just like a death note.
As the tension of their situation sank in, Levi and Rish exchanged worried glances.
“We have to think of a plan, Mom. We can’t just sit around,” Levi urged, her voice dripping with anxiety.
Maya nodded, her mind racing. “You’re right. We need to act fast. First, we need to send a signal to the pack, to let them know the heir has been found.”
“How do we do that? We’ve been out of contact for so long,” Rish pointed out, his brow furrowed with concern.
Maya’s eyes gleamed with determination. “We’ll find a way. There must be someone from the pack who can help us.”
Levi’s mind raced as she tried to think of anyone from their past who could assist them. “We all know nobody will help us, and it’s so dangerous if someone finds out that royal blood is still alive in someone. I don’t think that girl even knows anything about this. She looks so innocent and human.”
“I don’t know, Levi, but no matter what, we have to keep her safe. She’s our only hope. I can even feel some curse on her. Maybe that’s why I can’t sense her wolf,” Maya expressed her worries with a concerned face.
“I’m sorry for shouting at you, Mom. I never thought this is the reason why you even thought about helping her. I was blinded by anger that day. I regret everything now,” Rish apologized as the realization sunk in.
He didn’t know how to put it into words, but they had to protect Priya, even if it was from someone as dangerous as Priyank. She didn’t even belong to the human world; she was from a world beyond everything -That is werewolf.
“Me too, Mom. I’m really sorry,” Levi joined in with Rish’s words.
“There’s nothing wrong with your behavior. Anyone would behave the same way. It’s not anyone’s mistake,” Maya reassured them.
With a heavy silence settling over them, they knew they had to focus on the task at hand: keeping Priya safe.
Maya took a deep breath, her eyes reflecting determination. “For now, the most questionable thing is why she still doesn’t have a wolf. What type of curse is stopping her, and why the hell did she run away from her marriage? She looks so scared.”
“You didn’t see that Priyank, the so-called billionaire. He’s scary, literally crazy. For a ring, he can behave so mad. Who knows what he did with our Queen? If only I had my wolf powers, I would show him who’s powerful,” Levi, all agitated, punctuated her words.
She couldn’t let it slip away, how he behaved that day. Even after that, he made sure his people contacted their boss and got them a bigger lecture. They also had their yearly bonus cut off,
and then they had to pay the real price for the ring from their own salary.
He was human, and of course, she and Rish both grew up in the woods. But as they were on the task of finding the last royal blood, and they had to earn too so they could feed themselves and their mother, still, they had never met someone worse than Priyank.
“That’s not the case. No matter what curse, or even if she hasn’t gotten her wolf yet, I’m sure she’s 18 now for sure. As I remember the death time of our last king and queen. She still can’t just be close to a man for marriage. She’s royal blood; even a curse can’t change that.”
“So is he…”
