‘Does he think I have no work?’ Priya questioned herself, feeling hurt by his words.
She did have work she was a student and needed to study. But with him invading her life and not knowing when she would be able to return to her studies, more than a week had already passed.
First, he took her with him and she went into a coma. Then, after she recovered, she couldn’t leave the orphanage because Mary was selling the orphanage and they had to move out. And now, here she was again with him.
He is parading her from his place to office, as if it’s her who asked it.
She wasn’t free she was literally forced into this situation. She didn’t have her books or anything else to keep her busy. So, of course, she would appear idle.
But what did he mean by saying she was “looking at people”? She had eyes, they were meant for observing. It was absurd for him to blame her for that. He couldn’t make her feel any more annoyed than he already did.
“I have work too, Priyank,” she replied, her voice tinged with annoyance. “I’m a student, remember? I need to study, but you’ve disrupted my life so much that I haven’t been able to focus on anything else.”
She couldn’t believe he was blaming her for looking idle when he was the one who had upended her life and left her with nothing to do.
“Is that so?”
“It’s not like I’m sitting here by choice. You’ve essentially kept me hostage, with no books or anything else to occupy my time. So don’t act like I’m just lounging around for fun,” Priya retorted, her frustration evident in her tone.
“So that means you’ll stare at guys if you don’t have anything to keep yourself busy? That’s such an immature and slutty habit, don’t you think?” Priyank felt agitated as he uttered his last words.
What she meant was that she would look at everyone because she didn’t have anything to entertain herself with.
In whatever zone she said this, it only hit the bottom line. Literally, her words didn’t even affect him, and he took it all in a cool manner, teasing her.
But one thing’s for sure, whether she knew it or not, she could push buttons more than necessary.
“What do you mean by slutty?” Priya’s voice quivered with confusion.
“Oh, I forgot that with your low IQ, you won’t be able to understand it,” Priyank sneered, his words cutting deep.
Priya couldn’t believe what she was hearing.
His words hit her like a slap in the face, leaving her speechless with anger.
“My IQ may be low, but at least I don’t say things like that to anyone when they don’t understand what you mean by them,” Priya commented, her voice tinged with frustration at his insult.
It didn’t sound good to hear, especially coming from Priyank.
“It’s not my fault that you have a low IQ, but I don’t mind explaining. Slutty means behaving like a prostitute,” Priyank explained, his words lacking any remorse or empathy.
Priya’s anger flared at Priyank’s disgusting explanation. She couldn’t believe he would use such derogatory language to describe her actions.
Even if she didn’t understand many things, Priya knew exactly what prostitutes were.
“You think it’s okay to talk to me like that?” Priya shot back, her voice trembling with indignation. “Using such disrespectful words is not only offensive but also completely uncalled for.”
She felt a mix of frustration and disbelief that Priyank could be so insensitive and cruel. It was clear that he had no regard for her feelings and was willing to stoop to any level to assert his dominance.
‘Prostitute?’ Priya’s voice wavered with shock and disbelief. What could he possibly mean by calling her that?
She had never engaged in any kind of sexual activity for money or done anything to deserve such a derogatory label.
The casualness with which he used such a vile term left her feeling sick to her stomach.
How could he utter such words without any remorse or hesitation? It made her skin crawl just thinking about it.
Feeling a surge of anger and disgust, she confronted him with trembling hands and a voice choked with emotion. “How dare you speak to me like that?” she demanded, her eyes burning with indignation. “Do you use these kinds of words for every woman?”
She couldn’t believe that anyone can stoop to such lows. It was clear that he had no respect for her dignity or her feelings.
Which, of course, he never does, as it’s his agenda to keep hurting her. But that should have some limit, yet he seems to have no idea when to stop running his dirty mouth.
“I don’t know, maybe I speak to every woman like this if they behave exactly like you,” Priyank paused, fixing her with a sharp look. “Isn’t that what you said? That you didn’t have anything to keep your attention? That’s why you found it so appropriate to look at another man in front of your soon-to-be husband.”
“That’s not what I meant and you know it,” Priya retorted, her voice trembling with emotion. “I was simply looking at that guy because he was bleeding”
“It’s the same, and you even noticed that he was bleeding. That’s impressive,” Priyank’s jealousy and anger peaked as Priya mentioned the bleeding part.
His reaction clearly stemmed from feeling overshadowed by Priya’s attention to his employee, a stark contrast to the lack of attention she gave him.
“I have eyes, and last time I checked, I’m not blind. And unlike you, I have a heart that feels pity because that guy was bleeding,” her tone firm and resolute.
Priya’s response was a firm assertion of her values and empathy, a direct contrast to Priyank’s jealousy and possessiveness. She refused to be guilt-tripped for showing basic human compassion, especially towards someone in distress.
Priya couldn’t understand why Priyank was reacting so negatively, a question that continued to elude her understanding.
Yet, she realised that trying to reason with someone who acted irrationally, like a crackhead, was futile.
She sighed, acknowledging the futility of trying to make sense of his behaviour.
It’s as if she’s attempting to piece things together, fully aware that they won’t ultimately add up.
