“See, Priyank, I’m literally begging you, please just stay away from my daughter. She’s too innocent for the crap you’re trying to pull,” Mary resorted to politeness, knowing nothing was working in her favour if she kept behaving like this.
“I don’t see you begging, though. I don’t know how sitting counts as begging, but you do sound sincere,” Priyank said, one eyebrow raised. “But I’m not in the mood to accept sincerity.”
Mary looked at him with surprise shooting from her eyes. Never in her life had she met someone so heartless and cocky. It didn’t matter that he didn’t even seem to understand any emotions. All he cared about was what he wanted.
“Keep looking like that, maybe my heart will melt, and I’ll take my Angel with me now. You won’t mind, right?” Priyank’s lips spread into a mocking smirk.
“Take your money back. I don’t want to sell anything, at least not to you,” Mary pushed back the suitcase of money, feeling disgusted to even touch it now.
“Quite a drama, but don’t worry. Even if you want to give the money back, the house is signed in my name. I doubt I’ll sell my property for pennies, like you did,” Priyank said, looking at the money and then at Mary.
“You literally have no shame, do you?” Mary said, all agitated, an inch away from wanting to smash Priyank’s head with the suitcase.
“I do have shame. That’s why I’m sitting in this house after I bought it. What about you? Shameless and selfish in all,” Priyank retorted.
“This is my own house. You literally scammed me.”
“Not when I bought it. How is that a scam? When I bought it, I don’t think I did anything unethical. I’m not the one who put the house up for sale, so it’s not on me,” Priyank nonchalantly replied.
Mary’s frustration boiled over, her face flushed with anger. “You’re heartless! You’ve torn apart our lives without a shred of remorse!”
Priyank remained unmoved, his expression cold and calculating. “I did nothing. Your sentimental attachment to this house means nothing to me. It’s you who sold it”
Tears welled up in Mary’s eyes as she realised the depth of Priyank’s betrayal. “How could you do this?”
But Priyank merely shrugged indifferently. “You dare to think you can take my future wife away!”
With a heavy heart, Mary realised that there was no reasoning with Priyank. He had made up his mind, and nothing she said or did would change that.
“Now let me meet my Angel, or else I’m throwing everyone out and taking her with me. That will happen the day after tomorrow. Don’t make me resort to violence because you don’t seem like you can handle it,” Priyank demanded, his words laced with a threatening tone.
Mary’s eyes welled up with tears, but she fought to hold them back.
She knew she couldn’t escape this situation.
Now, even their home had slipped away from them, and Priyank knew about their escape plan, they had nowhere to run. It wasn’t going to happen now. What was she going to do? Everything felt shattered.
“What are you thinking, woman? How many thoughts do you need to dwell on? Can’t you see the position you’re in? I can crush all of you, and nobody will even know where your grave will be. Moreover, it’s just Priya I’m asking for. Who knows, if you deny, maybe I’ll see how I can sell all the kids from the orphanage after killing you,” Priyank’s patience was wearing thin.
He had had enough of her expressions, her begging, her fake replies, trying to show that she wasn’t scared when she looked like she was about to wet herself.
He wouldn’t actually sell anyone; it was just a threat. But he wouldn’t mind showing it, so she realised that she was willing to sacrifice others for Priya, which wouldn’t help her case.
Mary’s heart pounded with fear and desperation as she faced Priyank’s menacing threats. She felt a surge of helplessness, knowing she was trapped in a nightmare with no escape.
With trembling hands and a quivering voice, Mary asked, “You’re going to sell the little kids?”
“I won’t, if you give me what I want. If you agree, I’ll return the house and the offer still stands. I’ll ensure the orphanage gets all the help it needs, so the kids can have a better life,” Priyank seized his opportunity, seeing that she was considering his offer now.
Before, she had vehemently denied it, but now she seemed to be slowly grasping the reality that hiding wouldn’t work, so it was better to take the option that would surely benefit her and the kids.
And it wasn’t like he was taking Priya by any unethical means this time; he wanted to marry her, which was ethical and respectful enough.
“That’s like selling my daughter,” Mary mumbled.
“No, it’s not. Because I’ll never leave anyone alive who thinks they can sell my Angel. It’s just a small gift you’ll get from your son-in-law,” Priyank’s tone turned serious. “If you still have doubts, then be prepared to sacrifice everyone, and I’ll still take Priya with me.”
“What if you hurt her like you did before?” Mary asked, her voice barely audible even to herself.
She had done everything in her power to protect Priya, but when the devil sets his sights on you, no one can save you. And that’s exactly what Priyank was a relentless pursuer fixated on Priya, unwilling to stop until he had her.
If Mary stood in his way, she feared she would lose not just Priya, but all the children under her care. She couldn’t shake the belief that he was capable of selling them too.
Though she could see in Priyank’s eyes that he wouldn’t sell Priya, his obsession with her made her realise Priya was safer with him than with Mary or the other children, should they incur his wrath.
Feeling utterly powerless, Mary watched helplessly as her world crumbled around her.
The moment Priyank hinted at selling the other children, Mary knew she couldn’t be selfish enough to risk their safety for her love for Priya.
Everything had shattered, leaving her with no choice but to surrender to the grim reality of their situation.
“I won’t. But this is between us. I truly care for my Angel, more than my own life,” Priyank affirmed.
“I’m bringing her.”
