Chapter 561: Georgia’s Pain

After leaving the concert hall, Georgia pulled Luther straight toward the parking lot.
Luther followed behind her, his gaze lingering on her flawless figure and the delicate hand holding his. His mind began to wander, imagining the moment when this woman would completely belong to him.
Georgia was truly perfect. Her elegance, beauty, and figure were unmatched. Even the top-tier celebrities couldn’t compare to her. She was too extraordinary-what man wouldn’t fall for her at first sight?
For someone as selective as Luther, the moment he first laid eyes on her, he was captivated. He liked her in a way that left no room for doubt or hesitation. If she could evoke such feelings in him, how could other men not be tempted?
Soon, this woman would be his. Soon, he could do whatever he wanted with her.
The thought of having Georgia made Luther’s heart race with excitement.
When they reached Luther’s car, Georgia let go of his hand. Her expression was heavy as she said, “Luther, open the door. I need to talk to you.”
She didn’t look at Luther as she spoke. Instead, she raised her hand to wipe away the tears welling up in her eyes.
She didn’t even know how she had managed to say such harsh words to Kayden, but the words had already been spoken.
She had always thought she could never bring herself to say such things to him in this lifetime, yet that moment had arrived so much sooner than she had anticipated.
Once inside Luther’s car, Georgia let out a soft sob. Her tears, which she had been holding back for so long, finally began to flow uncontrollably.
“Wah… wah…” Her sobs turned into outright weeping as tears streamed down her face.
Luther watched her cry, a flicker of worry crossing his heart.
In his mind, Georgia had chosen him because of his talent. Even though that other man had outshone him on stage, Luther still felt that he had won-he had won Georgia. Seeing Kayden’s defeated and disheveled appearance earlier had brought him immense satisfaction.
“Georgia, it’s okay. Don’t worry. From now on, I’ll never leave your side,” Luther said, his voice filled with reassurance. As he spoke, his hand reached out, intending to wrap around Georgia’s back for a comforting hug.
At a time like this, a woman needed a man’s embrace the most.
However, just as Luther’s hand brushed against her, Georgia’s body tensed, and she flinched away. She quickly moved out of his reach and said, “I’m sorry, Luther. I didn’t mean to cry in your car.”
Crying in someone else’s car was a big taboo-at least, that’s what she had been taught growing up.
After speaking, Georgia tried her best to calm herself down.
Luther, ever magnanimous, said, “It’s okay. I understand what’s on your mind. You’re such a kind-hearted woman. You wouldn’t even want to hurt a stray cat or dog, let alone a person. Georgia, I understand you.”
He believed he understood Georgia deeply, so he confidently drew his own conclusions.
Thinking back to the first time he met Georgia, her resilience and determination had stood out. Coupled with what had just happened on stage, Luther felt certain. The woman he wanted would only take a little effort to win over-sooner or later, she would be his.
In that moment, his confidence in himself soared once again.
He was completely unaware of Georgia’s and Kayden’s history. In his eyes, the two of them were exactly as the rumors described-completely devoid of any emotional connection. He believed that winning Georgia was solely a matter of his own charm.
Georgia took a deep breath, looked at Luther again, and said, “I’m sorry, Luther. There’s something I need to tell you, and I hope you won’t be angry after hearing it.”
Luther eagerly grabbed Georgia’s soft, delicate hand and nodded. “Go ahead, Georgia. How could I ever be angry with you?”
Georgia gently withdrew her hand, exhaled deeply, and said, “What I said on stage earlier was just to provoke Kayden. I don’t actually have feelings for you. I just wanted him to understand that I’ve given up on him completely. I know this is cruel to you, but I had no choice. It seemed like the best opportunity in that situation. I’m sorry.”
As she finished speaking, Georgia lowered her head.
Even if she could never be with Kayden again, she could never see Luther as someone she could love.
While Luther had talent, he was far too arrogant-not the type of man Georgia liked.
Besides, after experiencing someone as extraordinary as Kayden, how could she be interested in someone like Luther? No matter how impressive Luther appeared, he was, at best, a bright, colorful sparrow. And once you’ve seen a soaring eagle, no sparrow could ever compare.
Luther’s face twitched violently as he heard her words.
It caught him off guard-Georgia had used him as a pawn.
When had he ever been treated like this? He was the heir of the Falcon family, a renowned pianist. His brilliance, his talent, simply didn’t allow for such humiliation.
But soon, he regained his composure.
Swallowing hard, he asked, “Then… the engagement you mentioned earlier-it’s fake too?”
Georgia nodded slightly. “Yes, it’s fake. I only said it to provoke Kayden. I just wanted him to give up and leave Hiphia quietly, to return to where he belongs.”
After speaking, Georgia looked at Luther with deep regret. “I’m sorry, Luther. I didn’t mean to hurt you like this. I know it’s cruel to you, but I really didn’t have another choice.”
Luther forced a faint smile. “It’s okay. As long as it helps you find happiness, that’s all that matters to me. I’ll be fine. But have you thought about this? You said something like that in front of so many people. If Kayden finds out the engagement is fake, he’ll definitely come back to pester you. He won’t let you go.”
Georgia had considered this, but she couldn’t truly go through with marrying Luther. That would be too unfair to him.
She sighed and said, “I’ll take it one step at a time. For now, as long as he leaves, that’s all that matters.”
Hurting Kayden in front of so many people wasn’t something she wanted to do. But to push him away, she had no other choice.
“No!” Luther suddenly said, his expression serious. “Since I’ve already been hurt this much, a little more won’t matter. Since the news is already out, let’s hold an engagement party!”
Hearing this, Georgia frowned slightly. Even an expression of displeasure looked stunning on her beautiful face.
“Don’t worry, Georgia,” Luther said generously. “It’ll just be a fake engagement party. After it’s over, we’ll go back to how things were before. Even if you don’t love me, I’ll leave quietly afterward. I won’t disturb your life.”
