Camille smiled lightly and said, “Why do you care about me so much? If it weren’t for the fact that you’re pregnant, I would suspect you have some ulterior motive.”
“Don’t change the subject. Tell me honestly, have you been hiding something from me these past few days?”
Camille pursed her lips and said softly, “What could I possibly be hiding from you?”
Sienna, of course, still didn’t believe her. She looked at Camille intently and said, “Camille, is there something going on with you?”
Because they knew each other well enough, Sienna could easily sense any obvious changes in Camille’s behavior.
Although Camille denied it, Sienna could still clearly perceive that something was off with her.
Camille chuckled lightly and said, “You know, being so clever isn’t always a good thing.”
That was as good as admitting it.
Sienna’s face darkened slightly as she looked at Camille and asked with a hint of seriousness, “What is it? Can you tell me? Is it about your relationship with Ayan or some other personal matter? It can’t be work-related, right?”
If it were work-related, Yessica would have told her.
Sienna was right in front of her, questioning her like this. There was no way Camille could escape.
But it wasn’t the right time to tell her about it, so she could only say in a low voice, “Let me figure it out before I tell you. After all, you’re pregnant now. Things are complicated, so I have to wait until everything is clear before I can tell you. Is that okay?”
Sienna’s face grew pale. She looked at Camille without immediately responding, trying to determine whether these words were true or false. At the same time, curiosity welled up inside her. What exactly was the matter that needed to be clarified?
Based on their past experiences, they never needed to clarify everything before telling each other. They would just share whatever they knew.
Even though they only knew the beginning and didn’t know the process or the outcome, they couldn’t wait to share it with each other.
Sienna sighed and squinted her eyes as she said, “If you didn’t have anyone else by your side recently, honestly, I would really think that you’re cheating on Ayan. Your behavior resembles that of a cheating husband towards his wife-evasive and secretive. So Camille, don’t lie to me. If you dare to lie to me, I won’t forgive you!”
Sienna threatened fiercely, but it only made Camille laugh.
Camille said, “How could I lie to you? Don’t overthink it. I really just don’t know how to explain this matter. I need to understand it fully before I can give a complete explanation. So can you wait a little longer?”
Camille wasn’t worried that Sienna would find out. Sienna cared about her deeply, perhaps even more than Ayan did. They were close friends who had gone through many ups and downs together.
They had never had any misunderstandings since they became friends. They understood each other and trusted each other completely along the way.
In fact, in one’s lifetime, it was very rare to meet a friend who matched oneself in every aspect. Maybe one could meet their soul mates, but it was difficult to meet a friend who had no ulterior motives towards oneself.
After Camille’s sincere confession, Sienna no longer insisted on pressing her further.
Their focus shifted to the SynergyCon project.
Since only participants knew what was discussed in the meeting so far, nothing had been publicly revealed.
Ayan hadn’t come back yet. They still didn’t know anything for sure.
Sienna worriedly asked, “Camille, what exactly is going on?”
Camille shook her head and replied softly, “I’m not sure. I’ll ask Ayan when he comes back.”
Sienna murmured softly, “I just think this whole thing is a bit strange.”
“Why do you think that?”
“Think about it-the morning meeting was kept completely confidential. What could possibly be so important that it needs to be a secret?”
“you’re pregnant! What’s the point of worrying so much? The most important thing for you right now is to stay happy and relaxed. You need to be in a good mood because that’s what’s best for the baby in your belly.”
Sienna sighed, “I wish I could, but you have to understand, I’m naturally curious. If no one tells me anything, I can’t help but overthink it. I just keep wondering if it somehow relates to me.”
Camille gently patted her shoulder and smiled. “I’ll help you find out and satisfy your curiosity. For now, you should head home. If Ayan comes back and sees you here, he’ll probably figure out what you’re up to. If he’s hiding something from me, I can’t satisfy your curiosity.”
Sienna felt powerless, perhaps due to her pregnancy, which made her mind a bit slower than usual. She didn’t think too much about it and didn’t doubt Camille’s words at all.
Camille personally walked her to her doorstep before heading back home.
As soon as Camille reached the door, she saw Ayan’s car slowly approaching her.
The car stopped steadily and Ayan got out of the back seat. He walked towards Camille and held her hand as they walked in together.
He didn’t say anything. His face showed exhaustion.
Camille also felt his low mood and remained silent as she walked beside him. After entering the house together, she poured a glass of water for him without saying anything.
Ayan smiled faintly and asked teasingly, “You’re so considerate.”
“I can tell you’re tired. Did you go to the SynergyCon project team today?”
“Yes.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“It was for work. I didn’t even have time to see you.” After drinking half a glass of water and putting down the cup, Ayan raised his hand and rubbed his temple tiredly without any reduction in fatigue.
He wrapped his arms around Camille’s waist and said in a low voice, “You were busy today too? You didn’t even come over to see me.”
“I wasn’t in the project team today,” Camille responded casually.”I went to the company. There were some matters I needed to handle. Tomorrow, I have to go on a business trip.”
“A business trip? Is this sudden?”
“I have no choice. I’ll take Yessica with me. I need to hand over all those tasks that need handing over. Otherwise, when things get busy in the project team later on, I’m afraid I won’t be able to handle them all.”
Camille casually mentioned where she was going on her business trip-Flento City-then told Ayan, “I might have to stay overnight there. If you have time, go visit Callum and Timothy at the Simpson’s mansion.”
Ayan’s face turned somewhat gloomy. He furrowed his brows slightly and his voice became hoarse as he said, “Why do you suddenly need to go on a business trip to Flento City?”
“It’s for collaboration with Bluesky Properties,” Camille explained softly.
Only then did Ayan nod along silently. He didn’t say much, but his expression remained solemn.
Camille pretended not to notice as the servant called them to dinner.
Throughout the meal, Ayan seemed to have lost his appetite, his face a mask of silent indifference.
Feigning ignorance, Camille asked, “What’s wrong? Do you have something on your mind?”
