Chapter 71
The morning was a really cold one, I was no fan of the cold environment, it gave me chills, I’ve always been fond of the warmth that comes with the sun.
I got up from my bed and prepared for the day ahead, with things in the pack going haywire. I didn’t know what to do and I wasn’t convinced that Isabelle was in safe hands either but wherever she was at the time, I hoped it made more sense than this joke of a pack.
Since Azalea left, it felt as if she had taken the unity we had, the peace we managed to establish within the pack, and even with the neighbouring packs.
I thought our alliance with the great well-known Alpha Federico would save us from the debts and fear we feel each time we shut our eyes to sleep.
But the reasons for our complicated relationship are obvious and I do not blame Azalea one bit, she needed peace.
I sat on my chair at the side of my bed and crossed my legs as I sipped on the coffee placed on my table.
My phone started ringing so I took it up to check who was calling but it was an unknown number.
I picked up the call and didn’t say a word, I needed to be certain of the voice before responding because of the amount of debt the pack was in.
“You filth bag, you’ve caused me nothing but pain and anguish and this is what I will bear for the rest of my life?” The masculine voice shot at me. I didn’t say a word in my defence, I just listened.
“You don’t know who is on the other end so I suggest you say something Rozan” The masculine voice shot at me, yet I remained quiet trying to comprehend who has the seemingly deep voice.
“I am Alpha Federico I ___
Before Alpha Federico could finish his statement I cut in “Oh great Alpha what do I owe this great visit this morning, I have anticipated your call and visits all this while”.
I was so delighted, thinking that finally the moon goddess had answered my silent prayers and heard the plea of my pack mates but the way he started the call didn’t sound like someone who made peace an intention.
But instead, he started shouting through the phone, accusing me of the wrong method of fatherhood used on Azalea.
I felt a slap on my face on hearing those words from him.
He forgot that I was also an Alpha like himself but status and wealth have changed the way things run in this part of the world.
I grew angry but I dared not say a word because with his help I could save this pack from losing its value and status.
I quietly listened, just then my door sprang open and it was the long lost Isabelle.
She was about to say something but I signalled to her that I was on a call, she saw how freely my fangs went in and out so she kept shut.
She understood immediately that the call wasn’t going well so she kept mute watching me.
I tried to reason with Alpha Federico but he just went on and on about Azalea being the worst of his brides because of her stubbornness before I could respond he cut the call on me.
“Who was that?” Isabelle asked with a concerned look.
“Alpha Federico” I responded and sat tiredly on the couch.
“He was going on and on about Azalea being the worst wife he got,” I said and threw the phone on the bed.
“The Azalea I knew and raised like mine won’t get into trouble with a clean head, I am sure something is undeniably wrong somewhere,” I said.
“And you, you finally retraced your steps back home didn’t you, where have you been?” I asked.
“I’ve got news for you Dad,” Isabelle said.
“Where have you been?” I snapped angrily.
She explained everything about the party and how she was invited personally by Alpha Federico.
“The stories we hear about alpha Federico are all true, he is the most ruthless of all alphas,” Isabelle said.
She narrated how she saw enough evil to last her a lifetime being displayed freely in Alpha Federico’s palace and how he maltreated Azalea and beat her without thinking twice.
“Alpha Federico will never say this part out to the public, I lived there I’m the only one with first-hand information,” she said with a smile hanging across her face.
The words Isabelle dropped were like fireworks and they hit my heart giving it a terrible impact, I immediately felt bitter within me.
I was so surprised, I wouldn’t believe this if I heard it from a stranger.
He was known as ruthless but maltreating his ladies is considered clownery.
“I believe you are back to stay,” I said.
“No,” she responded.
“Why do you want to remain in the camp of the enemy?” I was confused at her response.
“I had a terrible dream that signified doom, it was so self-explanatory, I had goosebumps when I woke up” she narrated.
“I saw Azalea stab me in my stomach multiple times and I was helpless,” she said with a worried look.
“It’s just a dream nothing more, it could be your imagination playing tricks with you and there is no way she’s leaving that palace,” I said reassuringly.
“Don’t think too much it’s just a dream forget it alright”
She didn’t seem too convinced by my words but she nodded slowly still deep in thought.
I got close to her, kissed her forehead and slowly patted her back.
She got up from her seat and left, seconds later I heard a scream that made me run towards my door and Azalea stood there frightened to her bones.
I rushed and hugged her “What is the matter?” I asked and shook her.
She was staring at the wall with her eyes wide open.
