Chapter 66
I felt so restless and uneasy, I didn’t know why my heart was suddenly beating so fast.
I decided to take a stroll around the palace. I’ve been to the garden before so I went to the back of the palace that I’d never been to before.
It was so quiet and peaceful, then I heard a loud sound coming from a building that looked like the gym.
I wanted to go towards where the sound was coming from but I was skeptical about the whole thing so I turned and was about to move towards the palace when I heard a striking male sound.
“HELP!” The male voice shouted. I was so scared when I heard the sound, at first I thought I was dreaming so I used my palm to wipe my eyes but I wasn’t in dreamland.
The voice came again and I had no other option but to walk towards the gym, when the voice shouted for the third time it sounded so familiar.
I entered the building and there he was, Thomas, lying on the ground close to the press machine crying and wailing in pain.
I rushed to his rescue and ran to call the guards and together we took him to the hospital.
I made sure he was admitted properly and I sat close to him on his hospital bed, he was unconscious due to the injections given to him by the nurses.
His legs were swollen and he had minor bruises too.
I looked at him and I wanted to cry so badly that’s all I have done these past few days.
I ran out and cried bitterly, Thomas, the only one who wanted the best for me, was on the hospital bed.
“Why do good people suffer so much?” I thought.
Liberty is far from me and my wolf with the way life is treating me.
Two guards took me home that evening, all through the night I couldn’t help but think about what next life has in store for me, life always manages to surprise me every passing day.
The night was really fast and morning came by fast.
I went into the washroom, had my bath and brushed my teeth.
.
I didn’t have the stamina to look good or do my makeup because who is there to look good for? Federico? Never.
I just picked the random dress on the edge of my wardrobe and put it on, it was a yellow flowery looking dress.
Maybe wearing a colorful dress will make my day a little bit colorful so I hastefully put it on.
“My Luna… My Luna” I heard a female voice say as my door sprang open.
I turned and it was one of the maids.
“What is it?” I asked with a worried look on my face.
“Alpha Federico called for an urgent meeting,” she said.
“Get out! Is that the reason you barged into my room?” I asked with an uninterested look.
She immediately apologized and ran off into the hallway.
I didn’t want to go to the meeting, I didn’t want to see his face but I had to.
I had to go to avoid any more problems for myself…so I went.
We all stood in front of the palace, his bags packed and his guards ready.
I watched as Lady Rosa stared at me in disgust.
Alpha Federico spoke about the palace and asked us to maintain peace in his absence.
We didn’t object to it, we nodded in acceptance of his rules.
He stared at me for a while but I tried as much as possible to avoid his gaze.
He got into the vehicle and zoomed off, dust brewing in the air.
Lady Rosa pulled me to the side and asked why I looked like a widow whose husband had just died two days back.
I turned to her “What’s the difference?” I asked and left her, I had so much anger building in me.
The evening drew fast, the day was boring and quite quiet.
With Alpha Federico away and Thomas in the hospital, it has been peaceful in the house, there was less drama.
Except for constant fights between Lucy and Susan.
I sneaked out of the palace accompanied by my maid to go check on Thomas at the hospital because part of the rule Alpha Federico gave was that I should not be seen anywhere near Thomas.
He was still asleep in his hospital bed, and his swollen leg went back to its normal state.
I bent down close to him and placed my head on his head then pecked his cheek.
He quickly squeezed my arms tightly, and in his unconscious state he said “Don’t leave me”. Those words broke me completely so I ran off to the palace crying.
In the morning I took food to him in the hospital but I didn’t go to his room.
I sent a nurse to give it to him, I would break down completely if I let him see me in this state, I looked so miserable.
I went back to the palace, later that evening Thomas was discharged and was brought back to the palace.
Everyone went to welcome him but I just couldn’t, I only watched from my room window with a smile.
At night, I snuck into Thomas’s room to check up on him because I couldn’t stop thinking about him.
I gently closed the door behind me and tip-toed towards his bed.
I got close to his bed and sat down as tears rolled down my face.
“I am sorry I didn’t come to meet you when you came back from the hospital Thomas, I care so much about you, there is no passing day that I didn’t think about you,” I said between sobs.
I bent down beside his bed and touched what seemed to be Thomas.
But it was so soft like a pillow, it was dark so I couldn’t see.
I heard the bulb switch click and Thomas was standing right beside it, his face filled with emotions and unspoken words.
I turned to the pillow I’d been pouring my feelings to and I felt so stupid.
“I’d love it if you could say all this while staring straight into my face, Azalea,” Thomas said and walked close to where I stood.
