Chapter 60
I could not contain my anger, I could feel the fumes burning within me abruptly, I never expected this betrayal from someone I loved and showed nothing but compassion.
I should never have put my hopes up, to Alpha Federico I will just be one of his brides and he’ll shove me to the side.
I’ve been restless for the past few days and all he did was to please himself with another.
“That bitch, Lucy” she has always wanted this, to rub it to my face.
I wouldn’t blame her, I blame myself for thinking that after being announced as Luna I will be treated as his only true bride.
I wasn’t even gone for too long yet he found a replacement for me in a few hours. His urges come before me and my feelings, now I know better.
I walked down the hallway then suddenly bumped into Thomas who was heading for the dining room.
“Hey watch it,” he said as he bent to dust his shoes.
I just stood there in silence, I didn’t say a word.
He noticed my unusual quietness and got up from dusting his shoes.
“You’re not going to say anything, are you? He asked.
“I am not in the mood, Thomas,” I said as a tear ran down my cheek.
I turned to leave but then he blocked me on the right…I turned to the left and he did the same.
“Whoa whoa Missy, you know I can’t let you leave looking so distraught,” he said and used his hands to wipe off my tears.
“What’s going on?” he asked with a gentle voice.
I looked up to meet his gaze and as soon as my eyes met his, shivers ran down my spine at how cute he looked but I Shook it off so he didn’t notice how lost I was in his eyes.
I couldn’t tell Thomas about anything that just happened.
“What if he mocked me?” I thought.
“Thanks for your concern, Thomas,” I said, trying to convince him.
His gaze didn’t move from my face. I couldn’t hold the eye contact that was happening so I eventually gave in.
“It’s a whole lot but… here goes nothing,” I said, his eyes still on mine as I took a deep breath.
“I’m being objectified Thomas, like some piece of trash, and as much as I try to shake it off and act as if everything is okay, it still comes up, right in my face to taunt me,” I said and quickly looked away ashamed of how it made me feel.
“Objectified? by who?” Thomas asked, his voice soft.
“Alpha Federico” I whispered my voice trembling as I paused and awaited his laughter or judgement but it never came.
“How dare he?” Thomas said, his eyes filled with anger.
“No one treats a woman like that in my presence, especially if that woman is you, Azalea. You’re a woman filled with strength and courage, you light up each room you walk into, you don’t deserve to be treated as a pawn” his words made my heart melt and I smiled at him “Thank you” I said, gratitude filled my heart.
“There’s nothing to thank me about, it’s just facts, anyone with an eye could see what you portray,” he said with a smile on his face.
“Come let’s go to the garden, the Palace tension can’t get to you there, nature helps me clear my head sometimes” Thomas suggested.
The idea of getting away from the palace was so tempting so I joined him and we walked to the garden.
As we walked hand in hand into the garden I could feel the gentle breeze, it was surreal.
The way the sun shone on the trees made the entire garden aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
“Do you want to hear a story?” Thomas said, smiling at me.
“Yes sure, give me your best shot!” I replied excitedly.
He started telling me about his childhood and how the palace was so peaceful when it was just him, his mom, and alpha Federico together.
When he got to the part of his mom he paused and looked to the sky.
I squeezed his hands reassuringly and he continued, he talked about the immense bond they shared until his mom died.
He talked about how he had to be alone most of the time because he never felt his father’s love.
I felt sorry for him because I related so well to everything he said.
He got to meet his parents but I on the other hand never stayed long enough with them to know their characters or even their likes and dislikes.
We sat on the bench talking about every slightest thing.
I enjoyed his sense of humour, I laughed so hard, and he cracked me up so much.
We talked about the dining table incidents and how every fight is always traced to the dining.
“Remember the time we were having dinner and Alpha Federico talked to me rudely and I left with anger?” He asked with a smile.
“Oh yes I remember,” I said.
“I was so hungry that day I had to act manly at the dining table but I still went back to the kitchen later to get something to eat,” he said and we both laughed together.
“Never skip a meal because of anger, my mom always says this,” he said and smiled for a moment then his face turned sad quickly.
I understood him so well, his mother’s death caught up to him badly.
I held his hand and just then a jolt of electricity shot through me and I gasped.
I quickly removed my hands and looked up at Thomas.
“What was that?” I questioned.
“You felt it too?” He said.
“Yes,” I replied.
My eyes met with his and it dawned on me that something out of the ordinary just occurred.
I felt his skin on my fingertips.
We both stood up from the bench in unison staring at our hands.
“Do you feel it?” Thomas asked still staring at his hands, amazed.
