No matter how Johnny listened to her words, it sounded like an excuse.
“An answer? How can you give me an answer?”
They didn’t even exchange phone numbers! He certainly didn’t expect her to reach out to him first and give him a response.
Tilda paused for a moment, then pursed her lips. “Fine, I’ll give you my number.”
After she recited a string of numbers, she was about to leave.
But Johnny grabbed her clothes!
The next moment, Johnny’s phone rang with an emotionless electronic tone.
“Hello, the number you have dialed is not in service. Please check and dial again…”
She got busted!
Tilda didn’t expect him to call right away.
The atmosphere became extremely awkward for a while…
Johnny just looked at her without saying a word.
Tilda slapped her forehead. “I must read one of the numbers wrong. Let me read it again!”
She recited another string of numbers, and Johnny dialed again. Finally, Tilda’s phone rang.
“Are you satisfied now? Then I’ll leave.”
Tilda glanced at his still-gripping hand.
Johnny furrowed his brows and slowly let go of Tilda. “Then I’ll wait for your answer, but don’t take too long.”
“Okay, okay!”
Tilda didn’t even want to say goodbye and ran away.
Originally, Johnny thought of taking her out shopping today, then having a meal together, and buying her some gifts! But when he woke up, everything suddenly changed.
Her attitude towards him didn’t change at all!
She still refused to agree to be his girlfriend.
As for what she said about needing time to think, he knew that was just an excuse. Johnny might love playing around, but he wasn’t stupid. Did she really think he didn’t understand what was on her mind?
But he was getting tired of chasing after her. It would be good for Tilda to think about it herself, and for him to think about it too. What had he been doing these past few days? He was completely unlike himself.
Johnny turned around and lay back on the bed in his bedroom, with the scent of Tilda still lingering in the blankets…
It made him even more restless!
At this moment, his phone rang. It was Ulric calling.
“Are you awake?”
“Yeah.” Johnny took off his casual shirt with one hand and prepared to take a shower. “What’s up?”
“Are you coming back to the company today? There’s a meeting with domestic shareholders that I want you to attend.”
After all, it wasn’t appropriate to have Cedric attend the meeting. No matter how capable he was, he was a secretary, and having him there would make it seem like he didn’t take the meeting seriously.
Johnny sighed, “Alright, I’ll go back to the company later. Have Cedric send me the documents.”
“Okay,” Ulric responded and then asked in a low voice, “What’s wrong?”
“It’s all because of Rosalind’s friend!” Johnny muttered, “I’ve already lowered myself so much, but she still refuses to agree! As a sought-after man, I’ve always had women pursuing me. When have I ever pursued a girl like this?”
“She thinks you can’t be faithful.”
“Yes!” Johnny had never needed to hide anything from Ulric. “But I promised her not to fool around anymore. I said we could register our marriage first, learning from your strategy of winning over Rosalind. When everything is settled, my parents and her parents won’t have any objections! Isn’t that great?”
Ulric coughed lightly on the other end. “That wasn’t a strategy.”
“You planned it for a long time. If it wasn’t a strategy, then what was it?”
“Come on, tell me how you made Rosalind fall in love with you?” If necessary, he could learn from Ulric without feeling ashamed!
There was silence on Ulric’s end for a few seconds before he spoke again, “She didn’t fall in love with me. At most, she just liked me.”
