CHAPTER One Hundred and Eighteen.
Noah’s POV.
The early morning light filtered through the curtains, painting the room in soft hues of gold. I lay on my side, watching her sleep, Mirabelle. My wife. The woman who had somehow managed to drive me to the brink of madness and still make me fall head over heels for her every single day.
Her dark lashes fanned against her cheeks, her breathing soft and even. There was a slight flush to her skin, her lips parted enough for me to see that faintest smile tugging at the corners. She looked so peaceful, so beautiful. My chest tightened as I took her in, my heart swelling with emotions that I still couldn’t quite put into words.
I couldn’t help but smile, it has been a year since everythingsince the chaos that Natasha had unleashed on our lives. A year since we’d nearly lost everything. But now? Now, our life was a calm that I never thought I would really experience. Filled with laughter, love and the promise of new beginnings.
My gaze drifted lower, to the curve of her belly beneath the sheets, my sonor daughter rested there, safe and warm. I still couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that we were having another baby. Our fourth kid. It felt so surreal.
She stirred, her brows furrowing slightly as she blinked awake. Her dark eyes met mine, still hazy with sleep, and she gave me the most softest smile.
“Good morning, Love.” She murmured, her voice husky and sweet.
“Good morning, beautiful.” I replied, unable to hide the grin that spread across my face.
Her cheeks flushed a deep pink and she turned her head slightly, trying to hide it. “Why are you staring at me like that?” she asked, her voice laced with shyness.
I reached out, brushing a stray strand from her face. “Because I have a beautiful wife and I can’t help it.” I said simply.
Her blush deepened, and she bit her lip, glancing away. It was a habit she had when she was embarrassed and damn, it always drove me crazy. I leaned in, my lips brushing against her hair as I whispered. “I love how you blush for me, Mira.”
Her breath hitched, and she turned back to face me, her eyes locking into mine. There was a spark therea fire that had never truly gone out.
“Noah…” she began, but I silenced her with a kiss.
It started slow, tender, but it wasn’t long before it deepened. My hands cupped her cheek, tilting her face towards mine as her lips parted, allowing me to explore the taste of her. She sighed against me, her hands sliding up my chest and curling onto my chest, pulling me closer.
I shifted, my body pressing against hers, careful not to put any weight on her belly. Her fingers tangled in my hair and I groaned softly, the sound muffled by her lips.
When we finally broke apart, we were both breathless, her lips swollen and her cheeks flushed. She looked up at me, her eyes shinning with a mix of love and desire.
“You know,” she said softly, her voice teasing. “We might actually make it downstairs on time one of these days if you actually stop distracting me.”
I chuckled, pressing a kiss to her forehead before trailing down to her belly, I rested my cheeks against the curve, my hands gently cradling her sides. “I can’t help it.” I murmured. “How can I resist, when I’ve got my two loves right here?”
She laughed, a light musical sound that filled the room. “Two huh? What about the three waiting for us downstairs?”
“Five,” I corrected, my lips brushing against her belly. “This little one counts too.”
She smiled, her hand resting on top of mine. “You’re impossible.”
“And you love me for it.”i teased, kissing her belly one last time before sitting up. “Come on, let’s get you out of bed.”
“Noah, I can…”
“You’re not lifting a finger,” I interrupted, giving her a look. “Especially now that you’re this far along.”
She rolled her eyes, but let me help her out of bed. I scooped her up in my arms before she could protest, carrying her into the bathroom. “Noah!” She yelped, swatting at my chest. “I’m pregnant, not invalid.”
“And I’m your husband, so let me take care of you.” I said, placing a kiss on her nose before setting her down gently.
She sighed, but I caught the small smile she tried to hide. I helped her undress, my hands lingering on her soft skin as I guided her into the warm water. She leaned back against me as I washed her, her head resting on my chest.
“I love you.” she whispered, her voice soft and full with emotion.
I kissed her temple, my arms wrapping around her. “I love you too, Mira. More than anything.”
Once she was clean and dressed, I led her downstairs, my arms securely around her waist. She laughed at how cautious I was, but I didn’t care. I wasn’t taking any chances.
As soon as we stepped into the living room, we were ambushed.
“Mummy, daddy!”
Our three children came running, their laughter filling the air. Mika, the boldest and loudest of the bunch, threw herself into Mira’s arms, her small hands resting on her belly.
“Is my baby sister coming today?” She asked, her wide eyes full of curiosity.
Mira laughed, ruffling Mika’s hair. “Not yet sweetie, she still needs a little more time.”
Mika frowned, her nose scrunching up. “But when will you push her out?”
I chuckled, scooping her up into my arms. “Soon Mika.” I said kissing her cheeks. “Mummy needs to be ready first.”
As the kids chartered happily, Mira and I exchanged a glance. Her eyes bright with love, her smile soft and radiant. I reached out, taking her hands in mine as I watched our familythe family we had fought so hard to protect.
I still remember the dread that pooled in my stomach one year ago, when the doctor told me that she might not wake up because the bullet hit some arteries, I remember the fear I felt. It was at that moment that I knew, she was mine and there was no separating in our dictionary.
She and our children are my whole world, in this moment, I knew one thing with absolute certainty.
I would never trade this for anything.
This was my forever.
And I would love them, every single one of themuntil my last breath
THE END.
