Chapter 241: Another Conflict

When Garrett mentioned the young woman’s name, Darnell suddenly realized why she hadn’t come down to cause trouble for them. It turned out to be the famous actress Yaretzi Elwes.
Before coming to the University of Whiteville, Darnell had briefly looked over Yaretzi Elwes’s profile. She was tall and exquisitely beautiful, and at eighteen, she rose to fame with a highly provocative photo shoot.
She then starred in ten adult films in quick succession, establishing her position in the entertainment industry as a hot star. After laying this foundation, Yaretzi Elwes transitioned from adult films to acting in TV dramas. Her unique appeal quickly made her a sensation.
She began venturing into other fields, and today, she was a popular actress, model, and singer. However, her reputation isn’t spotless. There were numerous posts online discussing her escapades, with many claiming she had been involved with just about every man in the showbiz.
Darnell was only interested in her title as the “Best Boobs” in Lightford and didn’t care much about whether she would appear tonight. He didn’t expect that she would be hiding here with a bearded man for some car fun instead of using a hotel room. Did they find it more thrilling this way?
Darnell shook his head, sighing, “The entertainment industry is really messy.”
“Boss, there are two things left here.”
As Darnell was about to move on, Garrett’s sharp eyes caught two small objects lying in the grass. He quickly picked them up and brought them to Darnell.
Darnell glanced at them. One was a pack of condoms, and the other was an electronic notebook.
These items undoubtedly fell out when the bearded man swerved, breaking the car window or windshield.
Seeing Garrett’s discomfort with the condoms, Darnell laughed and pocketed them before picking up the electronic notebook and turning it on.
However, Darnell couldn’t access it because it required a password.
Unfortunately, he wasn’t very interested in it. Otherwise, he could have cracked it in three minutes. He muttered something under his breath before checking the time and handing it back to Garrett.
“Keep this for now. After we complete our task, hand it over to the event organizer to return it to Yaretzi Elwes.”
Although the bearded man tried to hit them twice with his car, Darnell knew Garrett unintentionally ruined their fun by smashing their car window first, so he didn’t hold much of a grudge against the bearded man or Yaretzi Elwes and had no intention of snooping through the notebook.
“No, we’ll return it directly if we see them.”
Returning it through someone else might lead to complications.
Garrett nodded and pocketed the notebook. “Understood.”
They soon forgot about this incident and continued walking along the cobblestone path around the woods. Darnell found Jefferson and gave him some final instructions before calling Karlee to inform her that he had arrived at the performance center entrance.
Before long, Karlee came running out from a side door with her dress held up.
“Why did you take so long?”
Karlee wore light eyeshadow, perfectly applied blush, striking red lips, and a light blue dress that showcased her curves and feminine charm. She looked incredibly sexy yet subtly reserved, truly perfect.
But at this moment, her pretty face showed a hint of grievance.
Darnell gazed at Karlee’s nearly tearful eyes and scratched his head in confusion. He hadn’t done anything out of line. Why did she look like a wronged woman?
He asked with a puzzled look, “The party starts in two hours. I’m not late, am I?”
“Couldn’t you come earlier? You have nothing else to do anyway. You could have come earlier to keep me company.”
Karlee tried to sound fierce but ended up looking pitifully aggrieved as soon as she spoke.
Darnell smiled wryly and explained, “Our company is responsible for security at the performance center today, so I was busy setting things up.”
“Alright then, I’ll let you off this time. I’m hosting tonight. I need one more rehearsal.”
Karlee arrogantly laid down her demands. “You must stay in the audience, watching me without leaving. Otherwise, you’ll regret it.”
“And if I raise my left hand, you give me water. If I raise my right hand, you give me snacks.”
Darnell slightly opened his mouth in shock. “If you raise both hands, should I undress you?”
“Bastard!”
Karlee gritted her teeth. “Say one more word, and I’ll settle last night’s score with you!”
After saying that, she pulled Darnell into the performance center. At that moment, tears rolled down her cheeks as she laughed while covering her face. The grievances she had been holding onto vanished like smoke.
What remained was an indescribable sense of relief and shyness because she had eagerly awaited Darnell’s arrival today.
“What a wild girlfriend!”
Darnell mumbled softly as he let her drag him through the side door into the performance center.
The two walked hand in hand into the performance center, their expressions radiating such affection that it seemed like they were flaunting their love. Every guy and girl at the rehearsal couldn’t help but think the same thing.
Among the crowd on stage and offstage were several boys who had set their hearts on Karlee. Their faces turned extremely sour, as if their hearts were bleeding.
Karlee was their dream girl, always aloof and unattainable. Yet now, she looked like the happiest woman on earth, holding Darnell’s hand-while Darnell himself seemed completely reluctant. How could they not feel utterly disheartened by this?
They couldn’t figure out Darnell’s background for now, so everyone was more stunned than confrontational.
A dozen Brigade of Light members clicked their tongues in admiration. “Boss is boss. He really has a way with women, doesn’t he? Impressive!”
On the second-floor viewing platform, where people were hanging welcome banners stood Lisa with an exquisite face frozen in a smile. She glared fiercely at Darnell with anger and frustration.
Darnell’s intimacy with Karlee felt like knives stabbing Lisa’s heart. She took out her phone and sent a text message.
Karlee ignored everyone’s reactions as she smiled at Darnell while pointing at three large bags.
“These are all my things. One has my wallet and car keys, another has girl-specific items, and another has food and drinks.”
She pouted cutely, “You must take good care of them for me.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll watch over them.”
Darnell took something from his pocket and put it in the middle bag. “Just adding one more item of mine.”
Karlee glanced at Darnell before reaching into her handbag to take it out. “What’s this?”
Darnell whispered. “Ultra-thin condoms!”
Karlee listened as she looked down. A pack of condoms! Her face instantly turned red as she hastily stuffed it back inside before hitting Darnell while shouting, “Bastard! What kind of thing did you bring?”
Darnell laughed while dodging. “You were the one who took it out!”
“Bang!”
Before the words could fully leave his mouth, a sharp whoosh cut through the air. A basketball, arcing with incredible speed, hurtled toward Darnell, the force behind it so fierce it seemed capable of knocking him out cold.
It was clearly thrown by someone skilled at basketball. The ball whistled through the air, aimed directly at the side of Darnell’s face. If it hit, his face would surely swell up like a balloon.
“Ah!”
As Karlee and several girls screamed instinctively, they saw Darnell shift his feet, clench his fist, and extend it.
“Bang!”
The basketball exploded in mid-air, shattered by the force of his punch.
