Helen pov
It’s a new day and to say that I am excited would be a severe understatement. I’m surprised I woke up early even after staying late at night indulging in my wine. Maybe it’s the excitement if spending the day with Jason in what he called a date. When Jason suggested becoming my personal Gigolo after the confession I made, my mind screamed at me to say yes. However, I held myself back, not wanting to look too excited.
He is a handsome species so why not? Besides, anything to make things easier in my Gigolo searching activity. I mean, I don’t know where I would have started looking for one even with my mountain long determination. Now, I’ve got the opportunity handed to me on a silver platter.
I can’t let this chance go. I don’t want to end up regretting it and become the pathetic lonely single woman who has only her dog and plants to talk to. I don’t look forward to anything special at the end of the day but choosing a good sperm donor is among my options.
After my morning skincare routine, I dress up, ready to head downstairs for breakfast when my door bell rings.
Who is it at this early hour? I don’t think room service calls in at this time nor did I order anything. However, I head to the door to get the answer to my mental questions.
I open the door and find Jason standing there with a big smile. He is dressed casually, a white t-shirt and blue jeans. His hair is in its usual unkempt state, falling around his forehead.
“Good morning.” He says with his husky voice . His blue orbs glinting at me.
“Oh… hi!” I reply, slightly startled. I didn’t expect him at this early hour. I thought we would meet after breakfast probably. I don’t dwell on how he knew my hotel room even when deep down, I am curious about it.
” Did I catch you at the wrong time? ” Jason asks, maybe after reading my facials.
“No! No. I was just about to come down for breakfast.” I reply, schooling my reactions.
“You want to have breakfast together? I figured out you’d enjoy my company than being all alone. ” Jason sends me a playful smile.
I find myself returning his smile, not being able to resist the charm of his handsome face. “Okay. Just give me a minute.”
“Alright.” Jason nods.
I head back inside, leaving the door open, and walk to my vanity. I check my face one last time , grab my phone and handbag before making my way out.
“Ready to go?” Jason asks.
“Yes.”
We both make our way down and head to the restaurant. The breakfast is not as awkward as I thought it would be. We talk, mostly about our interests, hobbies, and stuff. I find myself opening up more than usual. I am a closed book when it comes to the people around me.
“I do love travelling but mostly travel for business. ” I reply when Jason asks if I am a fan of adventure.
” You are giving off the vibe of a Corporate baddie. ” Jason comments and I can’t help but giggle.
” More like a boring business woman.”
“No. There is no way a woman as beautiful as you can be a boring person. You are definitely interesting.” Jason remarks, making me blush. Deep down, I know that he is just trying to be nice or probably got the wrong picture about me. I am nothing but interesting. The only friend I have always reminds me of how serious I am ever. She doesn’t hesitate to throw it on my face that I am as boring as shit.
I don’t comment on that though.
” Tell me about yourself, Jason. What brings you to Paris.” I ask and the smile on his face drops.
” Let’s just say, I am a jack of all trades. ” He starts after a moment of an awkward silence.
” I am a nobody who is always moving around. I don’t have a career and neither do I have a fixed home. The world is my home. ” He pauses and takes a sip from his coffee.
” As such, I am always travelling. Sometimes, I don’t have a destination in mind, sometimes I do. This time, Paris is my destination. ”
” That’s a sad way to live. ” I comment and Jason chuckles.
” Yeah. It can be sad but then, it can also be exciting. It’s all in the way you see it. I prefer to look at it as a freedom and adventure. ”
I find myself nodding. The man is not wrong. It is a form of freedom. Take for example my life. After working hard and getting to the top pyramid of life, I am a miserable single soul with no family and a stable relationship.
Sometimes I can’t help but wonder, what would have become of me if I didn’t fixate myself on my career and decided to find a better life companion. Maybe a husband and kids.
I shake my head, banishing the thoughts from my head.
“You have a point. So, you don’t have a home anywhere?”
“Nope. Just a few belongings that I always carry around. ” He replies. I nod, adding a plus ten to his points. A man like him, with such a lifestyle os perfect for being a sperm donor. He looks like someone who doesn’t get attached but then, what about the conversation we had last night? Why did it sound like he was running away from a possible heartbreak?
” What about your family? Do they support this life? ” I can’t help but probe further. The last thing I want is finding out he is some sort of a runway billionaire being chased by family to provide an heir. I don’t plan on getting my baby entangled in some family drama.
” I don’t have a family. ” He replies and I swear I saw something flash in his eyes as he said that.
” Well, that’s too sad. ” I Sympanthise with him.
” It’s okay. I am used to being a loner.” Jason replies, flashing me a smile.
” What about you Helen? Do you have a family? What’s your story? ” Jason probes and I find myself sighing heavily..
” I have a friend if she can be considered family. I was raised by my grandmother and she passed away early. ” I reveal and for the first time, I feel free sharing my life.
” My story is nothing interesting. Just found out that not everyone matches your energy.”
” Your boyfriend? ” Jason asks and I shake my head.
” My fiance. Apparently after five years of dating and being engaged, he still hasn’t made up his mind on when he is going to marry me.”
” He is an idiot then. Any man would be lucky to have you. ” Jason replies, his eyes locked with mine. I feel something tug at my heart.
“I used to think the same. That no man wouldn’t want a woman like me until it happened. I guess you can’t be everyone’s favorite.”
We are silent for a moment and the tension is too much.
“So, are you ready to start our date?” Jason finally speaks up, breaking the tense silence between us.
