Chapter 548: Kayden Was A Thief!

Book:Back To Thrones Published:2025-2-13

Nick was important to her. They had relied on each other through thick and thin, and she wouldn’t let pride stop her from saving him. Turning to Kayden, Christina said, “I’m sorry, I was wrong earlier! Please, help him! He’s helped so many people before-I’m begging you!”
Her voice cracked as tears welled up in her eyes.
Kayden glanced at Christina without a word and then turned back into the house.
Normally, Kayden wouldn’t entertain such arrogant requests. But the man in question had decent medical ethics. Even though he had secretly learned Kayden’s “Dual-Sided Mystic Needle” technique, he hadn’t used it for harm. On the contrary, his clumsy attempts had accidentally saved a few lives.
That, at least, was doing some good in the world. And it was one of the reasons Kayden decided to help.
Inside the house, Kayden approached Nick without hesitation. A burly man was pinning Nick down, but upon seeing Kayden, he called out, “Brother, help us out here!”
Kayden gave him a slight nod, saying nothing.
He crouched down, picked up the two silver needles Nick had dropped, and swiftly jabbed them into two key acupoints. His movements were quick and decisive-completely unlike Nick’s hesitant and trembling approach.
It was strange. The moment the needles were placed, Nick’s body, which had been trembling and writhing, suddenly stilled. He lay quietly on the ground, as if he had simply fallen asleep.
“Amazing!” the burly man exclaimed. Though he wasn’t an expert, he could clearly see the difference.
Nick would take ages to insert a needle, carefully fumbling and overthinking. But Kayden had done it in the blink of an eye. This skill reminded the man of the legendary acupuncturist, Dr. Diomidis Stevens. Kayden must be a highly skilled doctor, he thought.
“You’re definitely a disciple of Dr. Stevens!” the man praised, giving Kayden a thumbs up with admiration.
To him, Kayden must have mastered all of Dr. Stevens’ techniques to be this good.
Kayden didn’t respond. He simply stared at Nick and muttered softly, “I won’t let your soul scatter, but this isn’t a place for you to act recklessly. Leave. Go back to where you came from.”
Then, in a colder tone, he added, “Don’t try to negotiate with me-you’re in no position to make demands. Letting you leave is already a favor. If you don’t go, I won’t hesitate to make you disappear completely.”
His words were eerie, leaving both the burly man and Christina bewildered.
After a moment of silence, Christina swallowed hard and murmured under her breath, “What kind of nonsense is this?”
Suddenly, Nick, who had been lying still, began coughing violently.
“Nick!” Christina rushed to his side, helping him up with a look of deep concern. “Are you okay?”
Nick coughed a few more times, then slowly opened his eyes, looking confused. “What just happened?” he asked.
His question echoed the one the burly man’s wife had asked earlier. It was clear neither of them had any idea what had occurred.
“Nick, you passed out earlier-just like that woman did,” Christina explained, gesturing toward the other patient.
Nick let out a startled “Ah!” and pushed himself up from the ground, dusting off his clothes.
“How did this happen?” he asked, baffled.
No one had an answer. Everyone else was just as curious.
“And then what?” Nick’s eyes landed on Kayden.
“Wait a minute,” he said, his tone sharp. “What are you doing here? I told you to get out!”
“Nick!” Christina hissed, lowering her voice. “He just saved you. If it weren’t for him, who knows if you would’ve lasted until Master came back.”
“What?” Nick asked in disbelief. “He helped me? That’s impossible!”
“It’s true,” Christina insisted. “He used your ‘Dual-Sided Mystic Needle.’ Not only that, he seemed very skilled with it-quick and precise! In just minutes, you were back to normal.”
Nick’s eyes widened in shock. “You’re saying he used the ‘Dual-Sided Mystic Needle’-my technique-and performed it that quickly?”
Christina nodded firmly. “Yes, I saw it with my own eyes.”
Nick was furious. “You! You, you, you-tell me! How did you steal our family’s ‘Dual-Sided Mystic Needle?’ Who are you? Why would you do this?”
Kayden stared at Nick, bewildered. “What are you talking about? Your ‘Dual-Sided Mystic Needle’?”
Nick let out a cold snort. “That’s right! This is a unique acupuncture technique developed by my family, passed down to me by my grandfather. And you-you dared to steal it! Who are you?”
Pointing at Kayden, Nick’s face darkened with rage, his voice dripping with venom. He looked as if he wanted to tear Kayden apart.
Christina chimed in, her tone sharp. “I thought you were some kind of expert. Turns out you’re just a thief who stole his family’s technique. What a schemer! Tell me, did you use this stolen skill to trick my master into teaching you more?”
“Do I even need to ask?” Nick scoffed. “Christina, this guy is clearly a fraud.”
Instead of being grateful for Kayden’s help, Nick lashed out, accusing him without hesitation.
Kayden frowned, his patience wearing thin. “Your family’s technique? It seems the thief here is actually your grandfather.”
Nick froze, his indignation replaced with confusion. “What did you say?”
“Who’s your grandfather?” Kayden asked, his tone calm but sharp.
Nick straightened up, his voice rising with pride. “My grandfather? He’s Greg Versoonder! A man as renowned as Maverick Quinn and Cael Gabor!”
Greg Versoonder.
The name struck a chord. Kayden remembered him-a stubborn old man he had encountered while saving the son of the John family.
So, this arrogant young man was Greg Versoonder’s grandson. It all made sense now-the overconfidence, the entitlement. Like grandfather, like grandson.
Seeing Kayden’s stunned expression, Christina smirked. “What’s the matter? Scared now that you’ve heard Greg Versoonder’s name? Come clean-how did you steal the technique? If you don’t, we’ll press charges.”
“I thought your skills were respectable,” she continued angrily. “But stealing his family’s invention? Shameless! I’ll make sure the medical community knows what kind of fraud you are-you’ll never work again!”
Nick sneered. “You still have a chance to confess now. Soon, you won’t.”
Kayden shook his head, exasperated by their ignorance. “The thief here is your grandfather.”
