I stood behind the bathroom door, my heart thudding loudly against its cage. I pretended to fumble with the sink and splashed cold water over my face to calm the turbulence inside of me. I could still feel the warmth of Shenaya’s body from earlier as her presence lingered in the air. As much as I wanted her and needed her, I knew I had to give her some space to process what I had said. The confession I made was raw and sounded desperate. After hesitating for a moment I twisted the knob to open the door just to find Shenaya on the other side of the door ready to leave.
Fear crept into me as I hurried across the room and grabbed her wrist, holding her back softly.
“Where do you think you are going?” I whispered trying to cover the fear building up in me.

“What?” my eyes widened in shock and I had to be sure of what I just heard, probably my ears were playing tricks on me.
