Andrew’s POV
My foot pressed hard on the gas pedal as his black Lamborghini roared down the empty Parisian streets. My heart hammered in my chest, not from the speed, but from the surge of emotions that gripped me. Rejection, frustration, and fury. The one woman I had loved all my life had just pushed me away again, and to make matters worse, Aiden, the man I despised the most, was back in her life.
My hands tightened around the steering wheel and my knuckles turned white as I recalled the conversation in the car. Emily’s eyes were soft yet distant had dismissed the promises we had made as pups. I took the promises we made seriously.
“Silly childhood promises,” she had called them. How dare she? My mind flashed back to the years I had spent waiting, and hoping she would come to realize how much I loved her. I had been patient, I gave her time to heal and understand, but the return of Aiden made me realize that time was no longer on my side. Years ago, when I left Zoey on her doorstep, I thought it would bring us closer.
I wanted her to raise my pup so I thought dropping the pup off was a perfect plan. I changed her scent to a different one which was why she couldn’t sense that I was Zoey’s father after all these years. It is clear that she didn’t love me at all after everything I had done because of her, I killed Skylar, I saved her years ago when she fell from the cliff, and a lot of business I have brought to her, Yet, she rejected me.
My jaw clenched as I recalled the meeting with Aiden earlier today. My blood boiled at the mere thought of them sitting together. Emily was beautiful as always strong and composed. Her scent was intoxicating and pure, she stood in the same room with the man who had caused her so much pain. I had been in the room with them, watching their every move, but I was invisible, None of them could see me.
I had scented Aiden the moment I entered the room, and the way they interacted had made me want to rip Aiden apart then and there but it wasn’t the right time. Now, as the lights of the Moreau estate disappeared behind me, I headed to my territory.
My territory is a hidden fortress where I ruled as Alpha. I couldn’t wait anymore. My plans needed to accelerate as soon as possible. I had to make my move before Emily fell further into Aiden’s grasp. I don’t think I would survive such a moment.
I arrived at my compound, parked, and got out of the car. My pack members are loyal and always ready. They already sensed the tension I was coming from, so they all gathered without me commanding it. I walked toward them with extreme authority. My eyes were sharp and glowing with an intense fire.
“A war may happen soon,” I announced, “Prepare yourselves. At any moment, we could be called to action.”
The pack murmured in acknowledgment, their eyes focused on me. I nodded with satisfaction and dismissed them. As they dispersed, I made my way to my private quarters. I stepped inside my office, and shed my shirt, to reveal the toned muscles of my torso, and the scars from past battles marking my skin. I didn’t care for comfort at this moment, all I could think about was Emily and the rejection that burned in my chest.
I walked to the wall in my office where I had plastered countless pictures of Emily. My fingers brushed over the photos, lingering on one where she was smiling-a moment captured in time, filled with a joy she no longer showed me. My eyes fell on another picture, one where her eyes sparkled with happiness. She was everything I ever wanted, but she had chosen Aiden.
“How could you,” I muttered under my breath with bubbling fury. I grabbed a lighter from the desk and pointed it at one of the photos, the one where Emily stood confidently, her beauty was undeniable, yet distant.
“How dare you reject me.” my voice cracked, I flicked the lighter and watched as the flame caught the edge of the picture. The photo crackled and curled at the edges as the fire consumed it. My eyes never left the flames. The once beautiful image of Emily turned to ash, but it did nothing to quench the fury inside me.
I turned away from the burning photo and walked to another picture of her. This one is softer and more intimate. Emily was smiling under the golden sunlight, her hair flowing freely in the wind. I traced the outline of her face with my thumb before leaning in and pressing my lips against the glass.
“I love you,” I whispered I was no longer feeling the rage from earlier. I stepped back to survey the wall filled with her pictures. She was everywhere. Every corner of the small office was a shrine to the woman I had loved and obsessed over for years.
“I want you,” I said quietly, my voice barely above a whisper. “And I will get you. If I can’t have you, no one else will. Not even Aiden.”
I returned to the desk with my mind whirling with plans for the future. I had waited long enough. The time had come to make my moves, to ensure Aiden’s pack and Emily would be mine-whether by choice or by force. As I sat down, my phone buzzed on the table. It was a message from one of my spies: “Mighty, Aiden is planning something big with Alpha Ethan.” I smirked. “Let them try.”
