Skylar’s Pov.
My plans had been running smoothly for months now. The Cresent pack believed it was their Alpha that was still in control but deep down it was Mighty. Every order I gave was from Mighty. I gradually replaced Aiden’s most trusted executives with like the Gamma, the Delta, and the stupid head Omega with Mighty’s Loyal warriors. I needed to know everything going on in the pack so Mighty’s attack on the packcouldn come smoothly. But something wasn’t right.
The first problem was when I tried to connect to Smoke but I couldn’t reach him. I started to panic because his connection was weak and unstable. If something had happened to Aiden, I would have known but it felt like Aiden was okay and his wolf was not.
I was extremely shocked when Aiden finally made it known that he had been poisoning his wolf just to be in control of his body. I never thought he could go that far.
I’ve been dizzy all day and by the time the afternoon sun began to dip, I noticed a subtle and undeniable change in my scent.
My heart skipped a bit because I knew exactly what it meant, but I needed to confirm. The thought of it scared me because I hadn’t worked so hard just to have complications in the long run. Before I jump to a conclusion, I decided to get some answers. I made my way to the pack hospital to see a doctor.
I pushed open the door of the infirmary and found Dr. Ayat, finishing up some paperwork on her desk.
She immediately dropped the paper she was holding and rose to her feet to greet me as she noticed my presence.
“Luna, what brings you here?” her voice was calm but I could see the flicker of curiosity in her eyes.
I was wondering how best to place my words so I hesitated for a moment. She gestured for me to sit on the examination table. I ignored the nervous fluster in my stomach and walked over.
I haven’t been feeling good all day, mostly dizzy, and most importantly, I noticed a little change in my scent.” My hand touched my arm, where I could still faintly smell a change in my scent.
“A change in scent, right?” Dr. Ayat walked over to me with a serious expression and I nodded in response to her question. She grabbed a few instruments from a nearby shelf and began the examination. I watched her in silence with my mind racing with a thousand thoughts.
“I’ll need to take a quick blood test to be certain,” she said after a few moments. The sharp pinch of the needle barely registered as I focused on her every move. Dr. Ayat didn’t seem to notice the way I gripped the edge of the table.
She examined something on the machine and turned to me. The result is here. This is it.
“Luna,” she said with a little softer voice, “You’re pregnant.”
The words washed over me like I was being poured a bucket of water. I honestly didn’t know how to feel about the news. The thought of it sent a jolt of fear and excitement through my veins.
“How far along?” I asked, my voice steadier than I expected.
“About six weeks, I’d estimate,” Dr. Ayat replied, her tone gentle, as if she could sense the storm of emotions brewing just beneath the surface.
Six weeks. My mind raced to piece together the implications. Six weeks meant that this… this pup wasn’t Aiden’s. The realization solidified in my mind, and I could almost feel the ground shift beneath me. It was Mighty’s pup.
“Is everything… normal?” I asked, needing to focus on something concrete, something I could control.
“As far as I can tell, everything seems fine,” Dr. Ayat replied, her voice comforting. “The pup appears healthy, and there’s no immediate cause for concern. But you should take care of yourself, Luna. The early stages of pregnancy can be delicate.”
I nodded, barely hearing his words. My mind was already spinning, racing ahead to what this meant for my plans. I just needed some alone time to think and strategize.
“If you need anything, Luna, please don’t hesitate to call me.” I forced a smile before standing up and leaving the infirmary. I walked back to the pack house with the weight of this situation pressed down on my shoulders.
When I reached Aiden’s quarters, I could sense Smoke from afar, both nervousness and relief washed through me.
I pushed the door open to meet Aiden but I didn’t see him. I heard the sound of the shower so hewass there. I tried to maintain my composure so he wouldn’t see or sense the fear through me.
I sensed him come closer so forcedce a smile on my face.
“Smoke, my love?” I let my wolf, Venom, connect with Smoke through the mind-link. I felt the strong energy that came from Smoke and for a moment I was happy he was still under my spell.
I decided to drop the bomb on him.
“You’re going to be a father!” my voice filled with joy even though I was going through turbuleninwardard
“What?” His body froze and he locked his eyes with mine. Cold ran through my body in fear of him finding out the pup wasn’t his but I masked it with a wide smile.
“Yes, we’re going to be parents, Aiden. Isn’t that wonderful?”
For a brief moment, I could see the conflicts in his emotions-shocked and confused. ed
“Of course, I’m sure! I went to see Dr. Ayat at the infirmly, and she confirmed it. This is our pup, Aiden. We should be celebrating.” I feigned hurt
“That’s… good news,” he said through gritted teeth and forced a smile. “But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. We need to make sure everything goes smoothly with the pregnancy.”
I nodded eagerly, hiding my relief that he didn’t press further.
“Of course. I’ll take care of myself and make sure nothing goes wrong.”
As I leaned in for a reassuring embrace, Aiden stiffened, and I was sure as hell he didn’t buy what I just told him, he just wanted me to have my way.
I don’t care what I have to do, Aiden must never find out. This pup would be his, at least in his name and I was ready to make sure of it.
I had plans to make, and there was no time to waste.
