~ISSA
“I have moved on, Issa, I swear,” Yulia said and I believed her.
But it did nothing to help the rage that filled my chest.
“Apparently, Pete has a hard a time believing that,” I replied into the phone in a hard angry voice. “I am going to kill him.”
“Come on Issa, that is too drastic, even for you,” Yulia replied.
I was in a board meeting with Iris and a few company executives when Leia sent me a video. I had initially ignored it but something just kept bugging me to check it. It was probably due to the fact that Leia was a mischievous teenage werewolf and she was Yulia’s age.
So I suspected that what she had sent had something to do with my secret Mate. I had seethed with pure unadulterated rage as I watched Pete roughly grab Yulia by the arm.
What pissed me off the most was seeing Jamal stepping in and coming to her rescue. That should have been me! Pete or whatever the fuck his name is was going to pay… with his damn life.
‘I can not wait to rip out his heart and watch it beat in my hand before he dies…’ Iran growled gleefully as I felt him salivate with a hunger for blood.
“Issa,” Yulia called. “I promise you, I have it under control,” She pleaded. “Do not spill anyone’s blood because of me again.”
“Where are you?” I demanded. “I am coming to pick you.”
“Come on, I am just about to go for my second class, please do not ruin my first day at school.” She pleaded again.
I was confused and angry and possessive.
“Fine,” I replied. “Promise me you will have a drama less day for the rest of today or so help me god, Yulia.”
“I promise, Issa. I have to get to class.” Yulia replied hastily and clicked off.
I knew that this was far from over. I would have to see little old Pete one on one.
‘Then we rip his head off!’ Iran said, reading my mind.
I went back into the large conference room where I had abruptly excused myself.
“Glad you could join us again,” Iris said coldly. “Everything okay on your end or should we wait?” She asked and I could hear the hint of sarcasm in her voice.
“No, I am good, let’s move on,” I said.
The real reason for this meeting was that there had been numerous attempts by hackers to get secret and important company information in the past few days.
Luckily, Calion Holdings had me to prevent any of that. I had successfully warded off the hackers and filled up their systems with my own custom designed malware and virus.
“We need to get to the bottom of these numerous attempts and why we are being specifically targeted,” Iris said as we all got down to business.
“I wonder why it has increased over the years,” One of the executives said as he shook his head in disapproval.
“Maybe our top back end developer is not as good as he says he is,” Another one replied.
It was Mark, assistant Vice President. I knew that he was referring to me.
“Do not be a coward, Mark,” I said as I looked at him deep in his bespectacled eyes. “If you have something to say to me, feel free. I have no respect for cowards who hide behind indirect confrontations.”
I could see the twinkle in the eyes of Iris. She lived for the office drama. A nervous murmur filled the conference room.
Mark had been trying to get me fired ever since he got promoted to assistant VP. He believed that since he was in a higher position, he could influence the board to vote me out of the company. He was wrong.
He fully turned to me and adjusted his glasses before opening a file. “All I am saying is that the hacking attempts have only increased from what I have read and it’s only getting worse.”
“And which of the hackers have been successful?” I asked.
“That’s not the point,” He replied testily.
“Please, enlighten us, oh great Vice President, what is this point of your bitching?” I asked impatiently. I had something important to do and somewhere else to go.
“If you are as good as you say you are,” Mark replied. “Then there should be no attempts on our company at all.”
I scoffed. This idiot did not even know the first thing about coding or how hacking worked. He was just grasping at anything to discredit me.
I pulled my phone out of my pocket and opened the hacking app that I developed. It was still a prototype but it worked well enough.
“Check your bank account,” I told him. He frowned.
“Why?” He asked. His phone buzzed continuously and he fished it out of his inner jacket. His eyes widened in shock and disbelief. “What did you do?”
“I wiped out your account,” I said with a shrug. “Oh, and no matter what you do, it can not be traced back to me.” I added coldly.
The other members shifted uncomfortably on their seats.
“Where did all my money go?!” Mark demanded in alarm.
“I kept it in an account on the dark web,” I replied. I stood up and adjusted my suit before looking at the executives one by one.
“I just demonstrated how good I am to assistant Vice President Mark,” I said in a cool tone. “If anyone is doubting my ability to protect the information and accounts of this company, please indicate with a raise of a hand,” I said and waited.
No one moved. “Very well,” I said. “I think we’re done here.” I headed for the door.
“Wait! You can’t just leave with my money!” Mark demanded as beads of nervous sweat formed on his face.
“Don’t worry, Mark, you will get it back in a few days,” I replied without looking back. “Until then, I want you to understand that you are not as safe from me as you think you are.”
I exited the conference room and headed for the elevator. Now it was time to have a nice bloody chat with the ex of my Mate.
