“Miss Ann, you are a celebrity. You should pay more attention to how you go out and who you meet, try to eat and rest well. You look skinny and pale” Rex paused to look at Elvira’s flushed face. “Also, the weather these days is getting colder and colder. You also have to pay attention to your body. Elvira smiled. “Rex, you’re so kind and considerate.”
“Miss Ann, if you continue to shower me with praise like this, each time we meet I will be out of reply in no time”

“How could that be? You are a sweet and gentle soul, loved by your fans and, from what I can see, it looks like Damien Ford is interested in you. When you get married, I’ll definitely come and wish you well.”
Elvira sighed, she wanted to open Rex’s brain to see what he had there, and she had already told the man she was only a friend with Damien.
“You should be very busy working on your new film this time since your debut, right?”
“That’s right, but there are too many things that need my attention at the company. I was thinking of calling my manager to cancel my work for the time being. My sister’s request to be involved in the management of the company has so many shareholders causing trouble that father couldn’t sleep all night” at the mention of the current situation in the Ann family, Elvira felt her head aching.

“The position does not suit her, she’s just sitting there” Elvira said without hiding the hatred in her eyes.

“I’m telling the truth, she doesn’t deserve the seat”
“I understand you, but just look at it. If others were to hear this, they would feel the sweet and kind-hearted girl that they see on TV is vicious in real life. I don’t want others to misjudge you by thinking you are a bad person” Rex smiled at her. “You’re a sweet soul. I hope you can always be this sweet and cute.”
Elvira lowered her gaze and stared at her belly. I love you, Rex, and I will not allow anything to stand between us.
“Rex, is it not obvious that you and I are destined to be together? We are fated together”
“You’re a good and innocent girl. I’m not good for you.”
“It’s up to me to decide whether you are good for me or not”. With that, she pulled his hand. “Rex, I want to be your girlfriend, you might be angry over what I just said, but I didn’t just want to be your girlfriend, let’s get married. This has been my heartfelt wish since the day we had lunch at Anderson’s villa. I want to be your wife even if I have to take care of you for the rest of my life”. Rex was obviously taken aback by her sudden confession. He was speechless for a few moments as he quickly withdrew his hand and said with all seriousness “I will pretend I didn’t hear a word you had just said.” Elvira felt her heart had been ripped out of her chest.
All she wanted was to get Rex all for herself. She loved him. He’s the man of her dreams.
She wouldn’t let a good man like him go, she must get the man for herself by all means.

“A few more documents for me to look at, and then I will have time to rest.”
Just as she was about to relax for the day, the office phone rang.
“Vice president Ann, you have a visitor.”
Ariel frowned, but she still asked “who?”
“Your father, he said he had something urgent he wanted to see you for”
“Timothy Ann came to see me”
“Yes”
“Let him in.”
“Alright”
Not long after the call, Timothy Ann walked in and walked round her office. “Being the vice president must feel good, life is now different from before.”
Ariel’s face darkened as she said coldly “President Ann, why are you here instead of sitting with the shareholders to talk about the cooperation between the Anderson’s and Ann?”
“Of course I’m here to see you” Timothy Ann laughed, “you are my flesh and blood after all. I might not have treated you well before, I’m trying to make it up to you now!” Ariel sneered at her father’s hypocrisy.
“What did you want from me?” Ariel had no interest in exchanging pleasantries with him, and she wasn’t going to pretend she didn’t understand his visit. If it wasn’t for her mother’s hard work she wouldn’t even spare anyone in the Ann family a glance.
“Relax; as you know, your sister is pregnant, and her engagement is in two days’ time” Ariel raised her eyebrow “So what does it have to do with me?”
“I want you to put in a good word for your sister in front of the old man from the Ford, so he can hasten their marriage.”
Ariel stared at her father in disbelief, put in good words for her stepsister who stole her childhood sweetheart?
Her father was standing in front of her, demanding she put in a good word for Elvira. Ariel couldn’t believe her ears.
“Elvira stole my boyfriend; I can’t believe you’re asking me to defend her”
“The company still needs more money” Timothy Ann said shamelessly.
“You really can do anything for money! Even Elvira, the daughter you love wholeheartedly, you want to use her as a bargaining chip with the Ford’s”
“Don’t make it sound like a bad thing; I just want what is good for my daughter. You should be grateful if I hadn’t asked you to marry Rex in place of your sister. How would you be sitting here as the vice president?”
“I should be thankful. Was that the reason why you said it must have felt god to be the vice president? Let’s assume I wasn’t able to become the vice president or turned my back against you immediately when I married Rex. Don’t you think you have lost father? Why am I still calling you father when you don’t deserve it”
Timothy Ann was stunned.
“What do you mean I don’t deserve it?”
“What do I mean that you don’t deserve to be called a father? Why would a responsible father marry his daughter to wheelchair bound with half of his face burnt?
Timothy Ann swallowed hard on his saliva.
“Could it be said that marrying your daughter to such a man is for her own good? Wow Timothy Ann, the way you do things has really broadened my knowledge.”
