The following day,
After arriving at the company, it was just as she thought. As she walked forward, there would be people talking about her. Even when Pius led her through the office, several female employees were still whispering to each other.
Pius put all the documents neatly on the table. He purposely marked out the important ones to make it easier for Ariel.
“Thank you Pius.” Ariel thanked Pius from the depths of her heart. If Pius had not helped her out with the documents, she would be in a terrible spot right now.
“Young madam, you don’t have to thank me. I’m only carrying out the young master’s instructions. If you think it’s necessary to say thanks, you can just call the young master to thank him.”
Ariel looked at Pius and shook her head in response.
“Alright young madam, I will see myself out if you need me. I’m a call away.” Pius bowed and saw himself out and Ariel buried her head in the document.
Knock!
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
Ariel raised her head and saw an employee holding a document standing by her table; she smiled at Ariel and said, “Vice president Ann, the manager wants to see you.”
Ariel was stunned for a moment, knowing who the manager was. “Andrea Anderson?”
“Yes ma’am, he said he would be waiting for you at his office. I hope you’ll be there as soon as possible.”
Ariel took a glance at her. “You are?”
“His secretary Maria,” Oh! It seems like everyone in the company is entitled to a secretary or an assistant.
Ariel mumbled, but the secretary could still hear her. “I can’t go with you right now. Tell him I will come see him once I’m done reading these documents.”
“Vice president, the manager said he needed to talk to you about the company ASAP.”
“Oh, okay, I will go with you right away then”. Ariel looked towards Pius, “I’m going out for a while. Be right back. I think you should go and help Rex out, since there’s nothing else for you to do around here.”
Young madam, you have nothing to worry about, the young master can take care of himself. Carry on with your work. I’ll wait for you here.
“Fine”
After getting up she tidied up her clothes and headed to Andrea’s office, following closely behind Maria.
Maria knocked on the door and politely smiled. “Manager Ann, vice president Ann is here.”
“Okay”, Andrea Ann waved his hand, signalling the secretary to leave.
The moment the door closed, only Ariel and Andrea were left in the office.
The atmosphere was a bit weird. Andrea opened her mouth. “Sit there’s no need for courtesy.”
“Pleasant, as your superior, I should be the one inviting you to my office, not the other way round. If you have anything to say, just say it.” Ariel’s perception was already bad about him and she did not intend to exchange pleasantries with him”
Andrea Anderson glanced at her and smiled sweetly “You seem to be on guard against me.”
“I don’t have to be on guard against you, I’m your superior, so respect me.”
“Sure, can you sit down now. The manager wanted to talk to the vice president. Is that not even allowed, or is that against the rules?”
Ariel pursed her lips, holding onto her skirt as she sat down.
Andrea Anderson stood up to pour a glass of water for Ariel.
“It’s your second time coming to work. Are you used to it? Andrea sat in front of her and smiled.
“To be honest, I feel your ability is not up to the position of the vice president, if not cousin that was supporting you and my father being okay with it, I would never agree to it, but what can I do. He’s the largest shareholder in the company”. Ariel Ann looked at Andrea and wondered what the latter was up to.
“Mr. Andrea Anderson, you are being unprofessional here. Is this what you brought me here to listen to? I will use my time to prove my ability.”
“Alright, I will look forward to it” Andrea Anderson took a sip of the water, and carefully examined her peaceful face. Suddenly, his lips curled up, “I heard that your father wants Anderson’s company to help finance your company after collecting huge money when you marry my cousin.”
Areiel Ann paused for a moment before nodding “Yes”
“Your family making such a request within twenty-four hours when you have just resumed work, don’t you think it will have a lot of negative effect on you?”
“I don’t think this will have any negative effects! And I think manager Anderson should know that better. You don’t have to worry I have sent the documents to you. Investing a little capital in the Ann’s company will have no effect on Anderson’s family members’ extravagant lives.”
“…”
Andrea blanked out. He didn’t expect Ariel would read his mind.
“Manager Andrea, get back to me when you go through the document. I’m off to my office” Andrea didn’t stop her and. allowed her to leave.
Ariel pushed the door open and the first thing she saw was Rex sitting in a wheelchair looking through the documents on the table with his thick eyebrows slightly knitted.
“Where have you been?
Ariel twitched her lips; “Andrea has something to tell me at his office so I went there.” Rex’s black eyes flashed the moment he heard Andrea’s name. “What did he want with you?”
“He invited me to lunch to discuss some company issues. He said since I just arrived at the company and not familiar with anything, he has to tell me things to pay attention to.”
“Fidelis Anderson and his children are not as simple as you think, you have to be careful.”
“I would say you know them so well.”
“How could I not understand my enemies?” Rex put down the document in his hand, “if you have any questions, ask me or Pius.”
Ariel nodded. “I understand”
Remember I won’t be coming to the Anderson Company casually. I will only be present here once in a while. I don’t want Fidelis and his children to be weary of me. I want to lower my existence in the company. So prepare your mind because many things will have to be dealt with by you. I can only tell you from afar, but can’t do it for you.
“You have nothing to worry about. I will do as you say, since you are my husband, even if it’s in name I will do my job well.”
Rex was about to leave after saying what he had to say.
Ariel raised her head in puzzlement. “Devil Anderson, is that all you came here to talk to me about?
“Is there something else you want to hear?”
“No, nothing…”
“Alright then, do a great job” when Rex left, Ariel stared at his back in confusion.
Did he come all the way here to lecture her?
She sighs in disappointment. What was she expecting the man to do?
After a long day at work, Ariel’s body mechanism started entering sleeping mode uncontrollably the moment she entered the Anderson mansion.
Kicking away the uncomfortable six-inch shoes from her feet, she would have loved to just throw her things around in the living room if that happened to be her personal house. She held her shoes and purse in one hand as she changed into house slippers.
However, Ariel was not aware that her actions were being observed by a shadow in the dark.
With her eyes half closed, she bumps into a soft wall. “Stupid wall”
Frowning Rex wore a displeased look and seized her wrist. He then exerted some force on it and retorted.
“Watch your step, woman.”
Immediately, Ariel sobered up a little as she lifted her gaze to meet Rex’s eyes. Why is he still up this late?
Rex dragged Ariel into the shower before laying her down on the bed.
The morning sun shone through the window and formed patches on the floor.
When the rays of sunlight shined on Rex, they covered his cold face with a layer of golden light which made him look slightly gentle.
Ariel was stunned to see herself wrapped in the arms of the man.
Rex was so dazzling that Ariel couldn’t shift her gaze away from him, her heart fluttered.
“Are you not supposed to be at the office by this time? Yesterday you slept in late and the same today. I wonder what the share holders will say when they hear that the new vice president always resumes work late.
“Rex Anderson, you’re really a devil. Did you not see me working diligently? I’ve been working overtime, but instead of you appreciating me, you criticize me. Try to say some good words. It won’t kill you.”
“You mean I don’t appreciate you, I was the one who bathed you and tucked you into bed last night” realization down on Ariel as she looked down on herself, she was really sleepy last night and this morning all her attention was on Rex.
“You didn’t do anything else, right?”
“My leg is still uncomfortable”
Ariel sighed in relief, but her mind jumped immediately. She remembered Rex mentioning using his finger the last time.
“Did you use your finger?”
As the two were talking, Ariel’s cell phone rang sharply and seeing the familiar number on the screen, she froze.
