THE NEXT DAY
MORNING
Lily slowly ate her breakfast as she recalled what happened the previous day, she could remember her and Nora gisting and having fun all day. She also remembered smoking too much which made her uncomfortable.
She could also remember Axel saying mean words to her about her life and she couldn’t help but wonder how he knew about Mrs. McCall being her mother.
Thinking about everything now, she was confused by what Malia meant when she said she was supposed to be the one married to Axel.
How is that possible if his stepmother was just introducing him to them at the first ball?
“Ma’am.” A maid snapped Lily out of her thoughts, she turned to the maid and she bowed.
“Mr. Blackwell sent for you, he is in the living room.” The maid said and Lily nodded, she gulped a glass of water before heading out of the dining room.
She got to the living room and met him going through something as he stood next to the fireplace. He wasn’t dressed in his usual tuxedos, he was in casual wear which meant he wasn’t going anywhere formal.
He didn’t notice her presence since he wasn’t facing her.
“Axel.” Lily called and he turned to her, she stared at her for a few seconds before speaking up.
“I need you to drop your account details.” He said and pointed to the table, Lily stared at the table and there was a pen and a little book there.
“Why?” Lily asked, finding it confusing and weird.
“Drop your account details.” He said again and ignored her question, he turned away from her and Lily walked to the table.
She picked up the pen and little book then wrote down her details.
“Done.” She said and he nodded without turning to her. Lily wondered if he was going to apologise for the things he said to her or not.
Axel noticed she was still in the room and he turned to her.
“Do you need anything?” He asked and she shook her head in response.
“Is there anything I have to do today?”
“No, till tomorrow. We are having an interview with the news, you are free today.” He replied and she nodded again, she sighed and walked up the stairs.
Lily walked into her room and lay on her bed, she tried her best not to think of anything. Due to how bored she was, minutes passed and she slowly fell asleep.

Lily woke up from her sleep after a few hours, she felt starved and she got off her bed and headed out of her room.
She walked down the stairs and got to the living room to see a man there. He was laughing as he answered a phone call. He was strange to Lily, she hadn’t seen him before and she wondered who he was.
He didn’t notice her so she watched him as he smiled on the phone and walked around. He finally noticed her and he paused, Lily finally got to see his face clearly.
He was handsome but not compared to Axel. She had no idea why she compared them though.
He ended the call and walked towards her.
“Hey, Lily.” He called and she raised her brows. She was surprised he knew her name, she was sure she had never met him before.
“Hi.” Lily replied and he smiled at her.
“I’m… ”
“Max.” Axel called walking down the stairs, he paused seeing Lily and Max together.
“You ready?” Max asked Axel.
“Yeah.” He replied as his eyes were on Lily and hers too were on him.
“Anyway, I am Max. Axel’s best friend.” He introduced and Lily turned to him.
“Axel has a friend?” Lily asked surprised and he chuckled.
“Yes, why not?” Max chuckled.
“Come on.” Axel said, walking ahead of Max.
“Axel.” Lily suddenly called and he turned to her.
“I will be outside.” Max said and walked out of the house.
Although Lily was a little bit mad at him, she was curious about where he was going. Apart from that, she was tired of staying home alone all day.
“Where are you going?” She asked and he gave her a questioning look. Axel wasn’t expecting that question from her.
“Somewhere. Why? Do you need anything?” He asked and she shook her head in response.
“No, I am just really bored.” She replied and Axel didn’t give her a response.
“Can you tell Nora to come… ”
“No.” Axel cut her off and she sighed.
“When will you be back?” She asked further. Axel wanted to ignore her questions, they were starting to get annoying but he found himself replying.
“Midnight.” He replied and she bit her lip.
“Do you have to stay that long?” She asked more questions and Axel was about to give her a response when the door opened and Max walked in.
“I am so sorry I am interrupting but we really have to go, Axel.” Max said and Axel turned back to Lily.
“Bye.” She mouthed and walked away. Axel walked out with Max and they both entered Max’s car.
“What was that about?” Max asked as he drove out of the mansion.
“What was what about?”
“You know what I am talking about man.”
“No, I don’t.” Axel replied as he checked the map on his phone.
“Take the next right.” He ordered and Max turned the car in the direction.
“How did you say you met her again?”
“A one-night stand.” Axel replied and Max shook his head.
“She doesn’t look like a slut.”
“That is because she is not.” Axel replied and Max chuckled.
“How does it feel being married and responsible for someone?”
“Can we focus on the mission and stop questioning me?” Axel asked as he showed him his phone, Max read the map and took a left turn.
“She is pretty tho. She has a nice body.”
“And she is my wife.” Axel added and Max smiled.
“Are you supposed to care?” Max asked and Axel decided not to give him a response anymore. He found the conversation annoying.
“You are married but you still get laid at the place where you met your wife. Not very nice of you, you know.” Max said and Axel glared hard at him.
“None of your business.”
“I know, I am just saying. She is too perfect to be toyed with.”
“Do you mind shutting up?”
“Why? Am I getting on your nerves?” Max asked back and Axel fumed with a glare on his face.
Max got the message and knew it was the perfect time to shut the hell up.
