Pulling up to the apartment building my mom lives in with Luke. It was now eight in the morning and I was tired from the long drive. I notice two black SUV parked in front of the building.
It can’t be the same vehicle I saw six hours earlier. I am sure its nothing.
Grabbing my phone off the phonemount. I slip my wallet and phone into Sadie daiper bag. I turn my car off and put my keys into my jacket pocket as I get out of the car.
I shut my door and open the back door. I unhook Sadie’s carrier/carseat from the mount it clicks into.
Making sure the fluffy blanket is secure, before I pull it fully out of the car. I pull the hood on the carseat up to keep the cold wind out of her face. I shut the door and take my keys out and lock it using the key fob.
I head towards the entrance of the building and make it up to Lukes and moms penthouse.
When I knock I was in complete shock when Dimitri opens the door instead of mom or Luke.
We just stare at each other in complete silence. Until my mothers voice snaps me out of my trance.
” Sweetheart, don’t just stand there come inside.” My mother says as Dimitri makes room for me to come inside.
As I walk farther into the room I see Liam and Lucia as well. My eyes swell up with happiness seeing them.
” Aw! Who’s the little one?” My mom said in a shocked tone. when she sees the baby carrier I have in my right hand.
I smile, ” This is your granddaughter Sadie.” I tell her nervously as I set the carrier down on the floor.
My mom kneels down and unbuckles Sadie who was now rubbing her eyes.
She dark blue eyes stare at my mothers face. ” Aww! She looks just you did.” She says gently pulling her out of the carrier.
” So, do I get a hug? Or are you still mad?” Liam asked me with his hands in his pockets.
I smile at him and walk over giving him a hug. He at tenses first but he relaxes as he hugs me back.
” See, I told you boys she missed you.” My mother says and I can’t help, but to start to cry in Liam arms.
I have had such a hard time the past two years. I just bawl like a baby in Liam arms. I than feel two other people giving me a bear hug.
The second I smell both their colognes. I know its Dimitri and Lucia.
I laugh through my tears, ” You guys still smell like that store in the mall.” I say causing them to laugh.
” I know you guys are having a moment, but she doesn’t seem to want me.” My mother says as sadie was struggling in her arms. She was kicking her little legs in the air and holding her arms out towards me.
When the boys let go. I reach out to get Sadie. She however thought I was taking to long and decided to make a dive.
My mother gasp, but I caught her before she hits the floor. Sadie looks right at me and giggles.
I laugh, ” Don’t do that.” I tell her softly as I kiss her forehead.
” So, who’s the dad?” Luke asked me his face full of curiosity.
” N-no one important.” I say and mentally kick myself for stuttering on the first word.
I know I can’t tell my mom and I don’t want to tell Luke. Maybe I can tell them. They were my best friends and the fact they are here, must mean they missed me.
” Can I talk to you three alone.” I asked them.
They both look at me weirdly for a few seconds.
” Sure.” Dimitri answers, and Mom lets us use her and Lukes room.
Once we are on inside I lock the bedroom door and the tv on and the volume on high before going to the bathroom.
” come on.” I tell them.
” Whats with the secret?” Lucia asked me as they all cram into the bath room.
” I don’t want my mom to hear. She is nosy and has a habitof eavesdropping. I don’t want her to be upset and disappointed. Besides what I am about to tell you guys might make even all of you disappointed in me.” I say as I sat down on the edge of the tub and let Sadie crawl around on the floor.
” We wouldn’t be disappointed you. It can’t be that bad.” Liam says as Dimitri and Lucia agree with him.
” I wouldn’t be so sure.” I tell them.
” Will you just tell us?” Lucia asked impatiently
He never was the patient type. Always wanted someone to get to the point.
” About a few years ago dad got really bad on drugs. He lost his job and started hanging out with sketchy people. He took a bunch of money from these wannabe gangsters in Wisconsin.
They demanded six million dollars in twenty-four hours.” I explain
I stop talking to make sure the were all following alone before I continued. ” If I didn’t give the exact amount. They were going to kill him. So I find this website that helped me get the money in such short amount of time. All I had to do was sell my virginity.” I tell them as silences fills the room.
The silence is broken from Sadie finding a tampon and babbles loudly as she waves it around, before handing it to me.
I smile at her, ” Thank you.” I tell her.
Sadie just giggles happily and crawls away to play with stuff she finds.
” So, that one night is the result of Sadie?” Liam asked me softly, being the first to speak out.
I nod my head, ” She is.”
” Does the man that you… um… You know.” Lucia says a little uncomfortable as he rubs the back of his head.
” No, he doesn’t know. I didn’t bother to tell him.” I tell Lucia
” I told you, that you would be disappointed.” I added
” Who was it?” Dimitri asked me in calm tone, but I couldn’t tell by looking at him. That he was beyond pissed off.
” It really doesn’t matter. He doesn’t know I had Sadie.” I tell Dimitri.
” Amara, who was it!” He asked again impatiently.
” Some guy named Mr. Black.” I tell him
” That son of a bitch!” Dimitri snaps angrily as he turns to leave.
” Dimitri!” I call out as I watch him storm out.
I hear my mom call his name. Right before the front door slams shut.
I feel my eyes water as Liam kneel down in front of me. ” He isn’t mad at you Amara.” He tells me
” Yeah, he will come back after he cools off.” Lucia says as he pulls out his phone and leaves the bathroom to make a call.
I nod my head as I sniffle. I watch as Sadie taps on Liams arm.
” Hey, little one.” Liam says as he pulls her into his lap.
Sadie smiles up at him and grabs ahold of his shirt as she wobbly stands up.
Liam puts his hands up on either side of her to make sure she doesn’t fall.
” Can she walk?” He asked me.
“No, but she crawl and climbs on amost everything.” I tell him
” She is adorable.” Liam compliments as stands up with her in his arms.
Sadie reaches her small hand up and touches the tattoo on his neck.
” I think she likes your tattoo.” I tell him with a soft smile.
” Yeah, lots of ladies do.” He says in a cheeky tone.
I let out a laugh, ” Nice to see you haven’t changed.” I told Liam as I stand up.
” Lets go see grandma!” Liam tell Sadie as she is still distracted by his tattoo.
Following Liam out the bathroom into the living room. I notice Lucia is gone as well.
I sigh softly as I seat on the couch next to my mom. I laugh watching Liam trying to hand Sadie to my mom.
Everytime my mom would reach out to take her. She would cling to Liam shirt and babble loudly.
When mom would stop. Sadie would go back to touching Liams tattoo.
My mom laughs, ” You little stinker.” she says tickling Sadie sides.
Sadie giggles and wiggles around. When she finally lets go of Liam. Mom takes that opportunity to place Sadie in her lap.
” Gotcha!” My mom says proud of herself.
Sadie just giggles and sits in my moms lap a few seconds, before climbing down and crawling around on the floor.
” Well, that wasn’t very long.” My mom says with a small laugh.
” Yeah, she is very active. She never stays still very long in one spot.”
letting out a small yawn. I realize how tired I feel. ” Sweetheart, why don’t you do lay down in the guest room. I can watch Sadie.”
Shaking my head, ” I don’t want to leave Liam hanging. Besides Dimitri and Lucia might come back.”
Liam smiles, ” Don’t worry about it. Just get some rest. I will be here when you wake up.” He reassures me.
” Okay, but if you guys need help let me know. If she gets hungry though. You will have to wake me up. I breast feed her and she doesn’t have any bottles full of breast milk at the moment.” I explain.
” Amara, She will be fine. Go get rest.” My mom says in a stern tone.
I sigh and hesitate for a few moments before heading to the to the guest bedroom.
Kicking off my tennis shoes. I climb into bed full clothed. It wasn’t until I layed down I realized how exhausted and drained I felt.
My eyes instantly become heavy as I fall into a deep sleep.

Dimitri POV ( SIX HOURS EARLIER)

I was sitting in my office with Liam, Lucia, and Luke.
” You are telling me that you think. Someone is stealing from me. How do I know its not you?” I asked Luke with a raise of my brow.
” Why would I steal from you and than come tell on myself?!” He asked baffled at my question.
” Probably to get the suspicion off yourself.” Liam adds playing with a lighter.
” Why would I do that. When you would figure out who is really stealing?” He adds.
Lucia shrugs, ” He does have a point.”
I start to ask Luke a question when his phone starts to ring. He takes his phone out of his pocket and looks at the screen.
” I think Abby can wait.” I tell him getting irritated with the interruption.
” Its not Abby. Its Amara.” Luke tells me and shows me the caller ID.
” Pick it up and put it on speaker.” I order him
Luke answers the call immediately, ” Hey, kiddo whats up?” he asked in a nervous tone.
Seriously? As much as I love scaring the shit out of him. He needs to not fuck this up. I give him a glare as the voice I haven’t hear forever speaks.
” I am coming home. Is it okay if I stay with you and mom. Its just until I get my own place?” She asked him
” Yeah, sure you can come over. You are family after all.” He says laughing nervously.
” I swear he is a fucking this up. We want her to come home not be suspicious!” Lucia snaps as Liam elbows him to shut up.
” Okay! I will see you in a few hours.” She says hanging up.
” Dude he amost blow it!” Liam snapped
” Well, maybe if you weren’t playing with a knife! I would feel more comfortable. Besides Dimitri been threatening me for months to get her to come back to Detroit.” He snaps back as Liam moves towards him.
Lucia quickly grabs Liam to hold him back.
The reason I have been riding his ass lately about getting her to come home is, because I found out she has a child.
Although no matter how much I tell my men to do some digging. They can’t figure out who the father of the child is.
I even have a few of my men in Wisconsin to keep an eye on her. They aren’t suppose to speak or bother her. Their job is to just keep an eye on her from a distance. If their is trouble. They have been told to get rid of the issue.
Since they been there the past month. They have been reporting back to me about how horrible her coworkers and the people at the nursery treat her.
I knew it was a matter of time before she came back home. Which was why I was riding Lukes ass about talking her into coming home.
Now I only have to wait a six hours. I will finally have Amara back in my grasp and this time. I am not letting her leave.

( THIRTY MINUTES BEFORE AMARA ARRIVED.)

I got word from one of my men that a person matching Amara description just entered into my city.
I took complete control of Detroit five years ago. Nothing comes through or goes down in my city without my knowledge of it. Even the cops work for me and stay out of my way. I made it the safest place for Amara.
Smiling I stand up and wake Liam and Lucia out of bed. ” Get up, we need to get to Luke’s house before Amara does. She will be there in thirty minutes!” I inform them as I go to get dressed into a pair of blue jeans and a white t-shirt.
I head out of my room and wait down the stairs to see Liam already dressed.
While Lucia comes hopping out of his room with one shoe on. As he quickly puts the other shoe on.
We managed to make it to Luke’s and Abby’s apartment building just a few seconds before Amara arrived. I get a texted from my men waiting outside. Telling me that she had just arrived.
Ten minutes later there is a knock at the door. I was already close to the door so I opened it.
My eyes make eye contact with her dark blue eyes. I can tell by looking at her that she is shocked to see me. I wanted to say something to her, but nothing would come out.
Instead I just step aside to let her in. I glance down to see the most beautiful baby girl.
I don’t care if that child is someone else’s. I will take care of her like she is my own daughter.
I am in a trance just staring at the little baby. That I completely ignore the conversation around me.
Its not until I hear Amara crying in Liams arms. That I snap out of it and walk over to where she is standing and give her a bear hug. Lucia even joins in on the hug.
I hear her laugh, ” You guys still smell like that store in the mall.” I can’t help but laugh softly at her response.
So, she did miss us after all.
” I know you guys are having a moment, but she doesn’t seem to want me.” Abby says as we let go of Amara.
I can’t help but find amusement watching the little girl throw a tantrum trying to get free.
It wasn’t until the little girl dives that I feel my heart skip a beat, but I relax when Amara catches her.
I hear the little girl giggle in Amara’s arms.
Yeah, she is going to be a little trouble maker that is for sure.
” So, who the father?” Luke just blurts out. I give Luke a glare from where I stand.
I get that he is curious. I am curious as well, but that doesn’t mean you just ask.
” N-no, one important.” I hear her stutter out.
I watch her closely and it looks like she is having a mental debate about something.
” Can I talk to you three alone?” She asked.
” Sure.” I tell her as Abby offers us to use hers and Lukes room.
Once inside I watch Amara lock the door. Turn the tv on with the volume blasting and head to the bathroom.
Following her inside I wait patiently for her to explain. I listen to Lucia ask her a question and hear her tell us how she thinks her mother and us will be disappointed in her.
I agree with Liam that we won’t be disappointed in her no matter what.
I wait patiently as she starts to explain what happened to her a year ago.
I can feel my hand twitch like it does when my blood starts to boil with anger. I listen instantly to what she has to say as I take in all the information she just gave me.
I feel nothing but pure rage and anger.
” Who was it?” I asked her as calmly as I could manage, but I knew my anger could be seen on my face.
” It really doesn’t matter. He doesn’t know I have Sadie.” She explains, but I don’t want to hear it.
” Amara, who is it!” I ask her once again impatiently.
” Some guy named Mr. Black.” She tells me and I see red.
” That son of a bitch!” I snap angrily as I turn to leave the room. I hear Amara call my name but I keep walking.
As I head towards the front door I hear Abby call my name. I don’t stop or look back as I slam the front door on my way out.
I am going to kill that fat old bastard!
If I knew he was bragging about having sex with Amara a year ago during a meeting I had with him. I would have killed him right than!
Taking the elevator down I get more pissed off by the second.
Can this elevator be any fucking slower!
When the elevator doors finally open. I storm out and head towards one of the SUV.
” Boss.” One of my men greets me.
” Get in the fucking car and set up a meeting with Joshua Black right fucking now!” I snap as I walk around to the driver side and get in.
I watch as the men nervously climbs into the car. ” Give me the fucking keys!” I snap at him.
Watching as he fumbles with getting the keys out of his pocket.
I angrily take the keys out of his hand.
Starting the car and stomping on the gas heading straight to my private jet.
He is fucking dead!!
