Soon after, the sound of the car stopped, obviously right in front of whatever building we are in. It doesn’t seem like a warehouse or an apartment, it seems like it was specifically designed for this suppose.
Footsteps approach and soon enough, they emerge. Their presence filling up the room instantly, Vincenzo, Dario, and Dante Alfonso walked in.
These names have wrecked havoc in the mafia world once upon a time, instilling terror in the hearts of their rivals. And even when times have changed and age taking a toll on them. They still had the spirit and terrifying aura with them.
Roman’s men fling to action, five of them holding us with at gun point, even when our movements are limited by their electrified chains.
Some shielding Roman, positioning themselves in front of him pointing their guns at their targets, while some stood beside him equally in a defense position.
The rest surrounded dad, and his brothers, and also in their defense position. This look like some sort of defense formation, a well strategized trap. I assume.
If either of them made so much as lift a finger, bullets will start flying and that too, starting with us.
Roman knew holding us is a major advantage on his side, Dad gaze at Roman’s men, each scurrying back nervously when they meet his eyes.
“Some weaklings you have there.” Uncle Dario spoke. “And you think they can stop us?”
Roman smirked, definitely not a good thing, must have a trick up his sleeve.
“They might not be able to stop you.” Roman answered, his tone wasn’t admitting defeat. “But they can stop them.” He paused, he turned around to look at us with the smirk still on his lips. “From breathing.” He completed.
He’s not just using us as a chip card, he has to kill us if he can’t get them, and that in turn is killing them indirectly.
“Stop them from breathing?” Marco spoke, his cold voice sending chilling down my spine. I craved to see him, and to hold him close to me. I don’t know when last I had seen him, I had lost count of time.
The men surrounding dad, uncle Dario and uncle Dante didn’t even know what hit them, silent bullets getting lost in their skulls. In a split second, half of them have dropped dead on the floor.
Just like the first day I saw him after six years of separation, when he made his first appearance at the company.
My eyes trailed for his feet, his expensive shoes to his trousers up to his muscular body clasped in a simple blank T-shirt under a leather jacket.
He looked as dashing as always.
He came in with his ever so imposing aura, seizing the every attention in the room to himself.
“Marco? You… You are supposed to be dead.” Roman eyes widened in shock, his confidence faltering for a moment. “I underestimated you.” He sneered, pure hatred dripping from his eyes as he glared at Marco.
Marco chooses to ignore him, his eyes roam the place taking the situation in. Until his eyes lands on me, he didn’t show any expression. He didn’t need to, as I understand every bit of him, his hidden emotions are clear to me.
“My first attempt failed, and you dare to walk into my trap?” Roman sneered, trying to gain back control. “Now I’m forced to finish what I failed to do early.”
“Your trap?” Marco scoffed, pissing him more.
“Yes, my trap. Killing the entire Alfonso family, what a great….” He trailed off.
His eyes were fixed on something, rather than someone coming behind Marco. It was an older man, he appeared calm and quiet, his head was slightly raised as if saying he’s not defeated yet.
“How is that possible?” Roman stuttered, this time he was truly shaking. He took a faltering step back, his confidence reducing to nothing.
“And now?” Marco taunts with a sly smirk playing on his lips.
Taking a wild guess, I’m assuming this is the man backing Roman in his scheme. Marco went to his root to destroy Roman, seeing the mastermind in Marco hold is a huge blow to him.
Roman seemed to snap out of his defeated state, obviously won’t be going down without a fight. He flicks two fingers, the man holding me jump to action.
He swiftly pulls me up, pressing my back against his front, but before he could fully press his gun to my head. A bullet went off in the air, I was startled as the forced from the bullet whizzing past my ear.
“I’m sorry.” Marco spoke, directing to Roman. “He was too close to her and I don’t like that.”
I felt a sudden jolt in her lower back, like a tight band snapping into place. The pain has begun as a dull ache a while ago, but quickly escalated into a sharp, piercing sensation that wrapped around my entire abdomen. It felt like my uterus was being squeezed by an invisible vise.
My breath caught in my throat as I tried to ride out the wave, but it was like trying to surf a tsunami.
“Oh, God…” I whispered, my voice trembling. Fear and excitement wrestled within me.
“What’s wrong, are you okay.” Mom panicked voice reach my ear, but I couldn’t pay attention to anyone.
I’m familiar with this pain, I’ve been there once. I’m going into labor.
“It’s happening,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. I release a piercing scream when the contraction hits me again, hitting hard.
“Fuck!” Was the last thing I heard before the men holding mom and the rest drops on the floor. “Get her out of here.” Marco growl.
