We drove down the familiar road of the estate, the gate to our home came into view as we grew close.
I remembered waking up this morning to an empty bed. Nothing but quietness
surrounding me and the empty mattress on his side. I quickly got out of bed and started searching everywhere.
Everywhere he could go, anywhere that was within a walking distance from our
room. I went out and stood in the middle of the empty living room. I looked around and not a single person could be
spotted.
“Donna?” Turning around to see Matthew entering the house.
“Where’s Marco.” Travis’s face then changed to slight discomfort at my question.
“Don had left.” When those three words left his mouth, my eyes widened. But before I could utter a word, he continued, “And we will be on our way too.” He quickly added, avoiding my explosive response.
“Don had something important to
attend-”
I had cut him off, I’m not interested in whatever cover up he has for Marco’s action. I am upset, pissed even. This is repeating itself for the second time now, and I’m not about to let it continue.
Marco had promised not to keep anything away from me, he gave me his words that he would be honest and truthful with me. Then what is this? Why the sudden secrecy?
I’m aware that there are some information he wouldn’t want to share with me, and I’m not bothered about it. The least he could have done was to tell me if he’s going out, a heads-up would be appreciated.
Oh! I’m so going to give him a piece of my mind when I see him. The car pulled up in front of the house, I quickly alighted and made my way inside.
“Zoey?” Camila chirped, slightly surprised.
She was carrying Adriano in her arms, and was busy with her phone until I came in. She wanted to speak, but went mute.
She froze as her gaze locks on the man who came in after me, Matthew. Yes him, it wasn’t that difficult to guess, right. He is the only colorful hunk as she had described him, among Marco’s men.
Matthew, on the other hand, didn’t even spare the poor girl a glance. His Stoic expression, like that of his boss, made him more frightening to approach. He simply walked upstairs with my bags, ignoring her existence.
Camila blink sadly, tearing her attention back to me, and flash me a bright smile.
“You’re back, how was the vacation.” She chirped excitedly, interested to hear all about my trip to the Bahamas.
I saw as Matthew steps faltered at the sound of her voice, he was a bit disorganized but immediately composed himself and left. Of course, Camila didn’t get to see that as her attention is solely on me now.
It was obvious the amount of effect she has on him, his feelings towards her was on display. Just neither of them could see it, Matthew is in self-denial, or should I say on self-restraint. While Camila is too oblivious to Matthew feelings, she only knew that she’s in him.
“It was a lovely” I stood the seat beside her.
“Mama.” Adriano called, stretching out his arms for me to take him. “My boy.” I gush, placing kisses all over his face causing him to release a bundle of childish giggle.
“Hope he wasn’t too much of a burden.” I directed to Camila, who was grinning at Adriano and I.
“Of course not.” She rushed out. “He was an angel, a bundle of joy.” She tinkled his stomach softly, staring at him with affection.
This family definitely knows how to shower love on those they love, they are passionate about each other, something I found surprising for a family as big as theirs.
“Of course.” I scoffed sarcastically.
Camila and I burst at laughing out that, both of us knew Adriano is a handful to handle. But here she is saying the complete opposite.
“He wasn’t too much trouble, truthfully. He had me occupied to think too much.” She was referring to the emotional struggle between herself and Matthew.
“How are you holding up.” I struggle to release Adriano grip on my hair, he definitely does have a firm grip. I hissed as I successfully removed his fist painfully.
“Trying too much not to think about it.” She smiles sadly.
At that moment, Matthew came back down, his presence successfully put Camila back into mute mode. She avoided staring his way as he came standing before us.
“Donna, I’m heading out, Don needs my attention.” He informed to which I gave a simple nod.
His stare lingered on Camila, who was too busy avoiding him to notice it, before he turned and left quietly. I heave a sigh, I sincerely wish both of them would work things out between them, instead of this pain they are going through.
“I’m going up to freshen up.” I returned Adriano to her, and pat her on the shoulder.
“Mama.” Adriano begins to crack up, I kiss him. “Mama is coming back okay.” He nods still holding my dress. I chuckled releasing his grip once again, this little guy here is strong.
