Marco’s p. o. v
“Come in.”
The door cracked open, I didn’t bother to look up.
“Don.” Matthew called, waiting for permission to speak, I nod for him to continue. “Someone is here to see you.” He informed.
“Not interested.” I simply dismissed. I don’t have the time for any of those greedy businessmen, who are only interested in doing business with me just to rip me off.
“You might want to see him, Don.” Matthew insisted.
Oh? Then this must be an interesting person, I leaned into my swivel chair and adjusted myself and took a deep breath.
Getting tired of Matthew’s anticipating stare as he awaits my response, I took a calm exhale. “Who?”
“Michael Bruce.”
Michael Bruce?
Why is he here? Michael is a forty-four years old, who’s recently awarded three star general for his braveness and service to the country.
He was stationed here years ago, and has been popular for his strict transformation in the military. I got an invitation for his ceremonial award, but I didn’t go for the event.
“Let him in.” Matthew smirked, he knew I would be interested after hearing who the visitor is.
I stood up and walk to the glass that separates me from the world, pleased the glass was tinted. Not that anyone can see me from up here.
The door open and two pair of footsteps came in.
“Boss.” Matthew called for my attention.
I turned around to see the reverence and loved general, he was dress formally in a suit. I was expecting him to be in his uniform, but that’s the least of my concern.
“Mr Alfonso.” We shook hands, I point for him to have a seat while took mine.
“To whom do I own this pleasure.” I’m not interested in the military business,
Michael stared between me and Matthew, silently tell me to send him out. I stare blankly at him, I’m not sending my right-hand man out on your request.
“Can he give us privacy? This is confidential.” He finally spoke out.
“No.” I reply simply.
“Alright then.” He nods after much-needed contemplation with himself, not comfortable with Matthew’s presence.
He has to deal with it or leave, this is my territory and I call the shots here.
“We have a mission.”
“Oh?” I leaned back on my chair swiveling around a bit. “And I’m informed because?”
“We need your help with this case.” Finally out with it, took you long enough, though. I scoffed.
How ridiculous this is, the legal armed forces needed my help. How then do they provide security to the country?
“With?” I raise an eyebrow for him to continue.
“There have been cases of abduction and trafficking of young girls going on lately, we have information on their location but not enough to go for a smooth operation.” He paused to see if I’m listening, and continued when I nod again.
“We know you have resources and manpower for these kinds of operations and….”
“And you don’t?” I interrupted him.
He glares at me, not pleased that I cut him short. Get used to it, if you want to walk with me.
I return his glare, a silent challenge starting.
“I’m aware this is your field, you can easily acquire such information in a short span.” He broke ended the challenge, knowing what be wants and for that, he has to follow my lead.
“Here is the little information we managed to scoop.” He pushed the file to me, “And attach to it, is a blank cheque, you can…” My stare cuts him off, he chuckled at my stare.
“Everyone do business for the profit, and as a businessman yourself, you wouldn’t go into something that won’t benefit you.”
“Wrong.” I mumbled, this is where I put a fucking bullet in his head, if he was not a government body.
“I don’t need your fucking money, and also I don’t remember agreeing to work with you?” A smirk tugged the corner of my lip, I pushed forward, leaning with my arms on the desk.
The fuck he’s awarded three star general, bullshit. They find to do the fucking dirty and dangerous tasks, and collect the reward and bravery for it. When they didn’t fucking lift a finger.
His watchful eyes study me.
“This is a serious and urgent mission, many lives of young innocent girls are at stake here.” He readdresses, trying to make me see reasons.
“That’s your job.” I remind him, is the uniform a work of art that is meant to be showcased?
“If my team and I embark on this mission, it will alert the criminals.”
“Ever heard of the word ‘undercover’?”
