POV: Raphael
“No… No… No… No!
I can’t do this mom, I can’t deal with you today, not now, Mom, not today.” I told her with a frustrated sigh as I sat up in my seat and looked up at the two people I never planned to deal with today. The last thing I want is to have another fight with my mom.
Yeah, I know it’s inevitable because Mom can be so overwhelming and annoying. But give me a break, at least not today. I’ve been through so much today already that I can’t deal with her. Especially now that she has that glow in her eyes that tells me that she is up to no good, she has some mischief up her sleeves.
“Not today, Mom!
Not today!
What the hell are you doing here, what do you want from me?” I asked her in a tired tone, my hand going through my hair in frustration.
“Oh, come off it son. You can’t deny me the chance to rub it in your face and float about your failed relationship after you two humiliated me and made me look like a fool in front of your grandfather. You thought I would let that go easily, didn’t you?” she asked me angrily, scoffing at the end.
“Well, I didn’t forget about it, dear son. I did not forget about the way your pretty little girlfriend caused me so much trouble with your grandfather after humiliating me. I’ve been waiting patiently for the opportunity to pay her back for causing me so much pain and trying to destroy my family.” She added fiercely, her gaze shifting from me to Miguel and then right back to me.
“To think that my son sided with that bitch to bring shame and humiliation to his mother. No, who is facing the worst humiliation?” she asked me in that same angry tone, throwing her bag to the couch and walking over to my bar to pour herself a drink.
“I told you she wasn’t good for you, didn’t I?
Now look what she cause you!
She made you defy your grandfather’s warning about the Myers. I’m sure she was sent over here by her family to gain your trust and then destroy what is left of your grandfather’s legacy.” Vinnie lets out angrily, coming to sit beside me and putting her hand on my thighs, caressing me softly.
“Get your filthy hands off me!” I warned her as I pushed her hand off roughly and glared dangerously at her. It seems they know something about the Myers that I don’t know about. My mom never put herself out like this if she doesn’t have something up her sleeves.
If she is here to gloat and pay Victoria back for what we did to her at Gramps mansion last time, that means she has some dirt or something scandalous about Victoria and I want to know what it is. Miguel is as curious as I was because he was sitting up on his seat, looking curiously at them too.
“Mom, what the hell is she talking about?
I did not defy Gramps, he approved my relationship with Victoria and he gave us his blessings, remember?” I asked her.
“Yes, he did, son. But that was when he thought she was the daughter of Austin Kendall. What do you think he would do when he finds out she is the daughter of the Myers that they hid from us for the past twenty four years. What do you think he would do when he finds out she is Marisol Myers and not Victoria Kendall?” she asked me, her face beaming with a bright smile.
“Were you the family my sister was supposed to marry into?” Miguel asks in disbelief, his eyes looking from Mom to Vinnie and back to me.
“And who the hell are you?” Mom retorted angrily, glaring at him.
“I am Miguel Myers and it’s my sister you are talking about. Why the hell would you accuse my family of hiding her from you? What would be our gain if we ruin our relationship with the Hawkins?” He ask mom, ignoring her fierce gaze.
“Besides, we have until our twenty-fifth birthday to prove that we had no hand in the disappearance of my sister. You have no right to say rude things about my sister unless it’s past our twenty-fifth Birthday!” Miguel told her, sounding offended by her accusations.
“Again, I ask you all, what the hell are you all talking about?” I yelled in anger, looking at my mom with so much hatred and anger. She sipped from her glass and giggles excitedly, taunting me on purpose. I got tired of staring at her and I turned to Miguel because I realize that she would never tell me what I need to know. She only wants to spite me, that’s all she cares about.
“What is going on, Miguel, what is this business with my grandfather that she is talking about?” I asked him in a stern tone. He looked at my mom and Vinnie before turning to me with a serious look on his face as if he has offended me,
“Look man, I had no idea it was the Hawkins that we offended before leaving town twenty four years ago. If I did, I would have said something. I did not even tell Marisol about it because I don’t want her to be scared.” He let out sadly, his eyes fixed on my, reading my reaction.
“My sister was betrothed at birth and that is one of the reasons why I had to find her before our twenty fifth birthday when she will be introduced to her future husband. I knew that she was promised to someone, but I had no idea it was someone in your family and I never brought it up because there was no time. Besides, I don’t want to be the one to destroy your perfect relationship.
I was hoping our mom would do the honors and tell her about it when she gets home. I’m sorry, Raphael, it was never my intention to hurt you or your family.” He apologized sadly.
“Are you telling me that Victoria would be forced to marry someone else in this family after she returns home to your family?
Who could she be promised to, who in this family would dare to steal my girl?” I yelled at mom, earning her laughter as she danced around excitedly with her drink in her hand.
“I have no idea who it is, I never bothered to look it up because my sister was missing all these years. Besides, I’m not sure my family would be keeping to that promise because we were accused of hiding her away and we face criticism from the community because of it.
I wasn’t there, but mom talks about it always. She said nobody belied that she was kidnapped and they never helped in finding her too. They claimed that our family was playing games with them and mom had no choice but to ask for a few years to find her daughter and introduce her to the family.
I don’t know what the final outcome would be and I don’t really care. I just want to find my sister and deliver her home safely.” He told me sadly, looking away from me. I turned back to mom and I walked up to her and stood in front of her, glaring daggers at her.
“Who is I, t mom?
Who was she promised to?” I asked again in a firm and fierce tone.
