Carl Saved Us

Book:The CEO Contracted Wife Published:2025-2-8

POV: Miguel
“I don’t care what you say to Raphael, but I will find you, Eloise, and I will make sure you pay for everything you have done to my sister. You will never get away with this, that is a promise!” I told her furiously, ignoring Raphael’s gestures and signals.
He is warning me to stay calm and I don’t know why. If he truly cares about her like he claims, then he should be furious with me. He is supposed to be telling and screaming at this woman and not trying to be smart and diplomatic with a fucking lunatic.
“You see what I was telling you, Victoria. Can you see what he is doing to you?
He doesn’t care if I hurt you or not, he is still talking even after I told him to keep his fucking mouth shut. He knows I will hurt you if he keeps talking, but that doesn’t stop him from talking because he wants me to hurt you; he wants to see you in pain. Is that the brother you want to leave me for?
Is that the family you want to live with?” she asked my sister, pointing the camera at her and yelling in her face, making her shut her eyes firmly to tune off the noise. She couldn’t even move her head sideways, I wonder what Eloise used in drugging them that made them look so weak and stiff.
“Marisol, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to put you in more trouble; I just want to find you and bring you back home safely. Don’t listen to anything she is saying, she is just being crazy. We love you unconditionally, Marisol, and we will find you, I promise,” I assured her firmly.
“Just stop talking, Miguel, you are getting her more furious,” Marisol told me, her voice breaking at the end. I couldn’t stop the tears that filled my eyes from spilling down my cheeks. I can’t believe that I’m causing her more pain by talking to this lunatic; I can’t believe that we are going to let her win again. We have no choice but to keep mute and just watch her rant like a lunatic.
“I told you that they don’t love you, didn’t I?
I’m your mother; it’s only me that you should care about. I saved you from them; I got you away from them before they killed you. Did your cute brother fail to mention that you were sick and dying when I saved you, did he fail to tell you that your parents preferred a male child to you?” she asked her angrily.
“That’s a lie; it was only a skin irritation. They love us equally, and you are lying to her. Stop lying to my sister!” I yelled at her. But that only brought more punishment to my sister. The guards hurt her every time I speak. Do I have to force myself to keep mute and just watch as the drama unfolds?
“They took better care of him and he was fine and healthy. But you…
They didn’t care about you, they let you fall sick and you would have died if I didn’t show up on time to save you!
You should be grateful to me for saving your life and taking care of you. You should be happy that I took you away from them!” she told her fiercely, glaring daggers at her. I’m sure if she had control of her body, she would have shivered in fear as Eloise glared dangerously at her because she looked like a fucking monster; she looked so scary, so fucking scary.
“I own you two; you are my daughter, and I will fight for you; I will do everything possible to keep you safe.” She told them, caressing their cheeks and smiling as if they were her pets. She turned to us the next minute and her smile was replaced by a venomous glare,
“This call is a warning to you two idiots. Back away without a fight and I will spare their lives. Fight me or even try to find us and you will never see them again for the rest of your lives. I will take their lives and take mine as well, I would rather die than let you find us. Do not test my patience!” she warned us, sounding so serious for a brief second and then bursting into a fit of laughter.
We glanced at each other and then back at her; I guess we both had the same question on our mind, and it was, “What the hell is wrong with this crazy woman?”
“I was kidding, boys; I won’t give you a chance to find us; I won’t even let you leave there alive. With you two gone, I can speak with my contacts and have all investigations dropped without the next few days. So this call is your last chance to say farewell to my daughter. Farewell guys, good riddance!” she let out with an evil smile on her face as she stared at us fixedly.
“Make them disappear!” she instructed her boys before ending the call. She is truly insane; I’m not sure she has ever been diagnosed with mental health issues or treated for it. She is like a ticking time bomb, waiting to explode. She needs to be put in an asylum for a very long time.
“Now that you have asked all the questions you wanted to ask her, can you let us do our jobs and torture you to death?” the guy that led us here asked us in a sarcastic tone, causing the others to laugh at his joke.
“You don’t have to do this, man; whatever she is paying you, I’ll fucking double it. Just let us go, please,” Raphael asks him, trying to appeal to his good heart. But he just laughed at us and pulled out his gun, aiming for Raphael’s head.
“Yes, we have to. It’s our job, and we have to do it diligently. Besides, we are loyalists, we cannot betray our boss for money.” He told us firmly; Raphael scoffed as he laughed at him as if he was not looking dangerous and scary.
“Too bad, asshole!
You should have taken the money!” Raphael told him sternly, his voice sounding mean. The guy got pissed by his words and raised the gun to his head. I heard the sound of the gun go off, and I shut my eyes because it was followed by a series of gunshots, and I actually thought that we were going to die.
I ducked and shut my eyes, waiting for him to shoot me or something. But the shooting stopped and I saw this as an opportunity to check if Raphael was okay and fight our way out of here. I was surprised to see him standing and staring at me like an idiot. I looked around and the bad guys were dead. Turns out that we have been saved by Carl and the others and by the look on Raphael’s face, I think he knew they were here all along.
“Need some help to get your ass off the damn floor?” he asked me in a sarcastic tone, making me look stupid.
