POV: Victoria
“Get in here and move them to the van before the guys get here!” she told someone on the phone, smiling proudly as she did. She got up and walked away from my side, walking towards Claire. She stopped in front of Claire and put her hand on her chin, raising her face so she could look into her eyes.
“Why don’t we take our little reunion to the road. You don’t want your boyfriend to come back home and meet you like this do you?” she asked us, smiling at us as if everything was okay.
“I called you, mom!
We both called you mom!
I did everything to make you happy and comfortable. I worked my ass off to give everything you ever asked for, and this is how you pay me back?
By drugging and trying me up like a fucking criminal?
I guess this is why your husband left you for your sister. He saw the signs that you were going crazy. And now I have confirmed that you are indeed crazy!
You need help, Eloise, you need help!” I told her angrily, earning a slap on my already stiff neck.
“You don’t get to call me crazy, Victoria, you have no right to call me mean names. Do you know why?
It’s because I’m the one who sacrificed my life for two integrates who are planning to leave me for some strangers they just met. You are the crazy one for falling for a man that is way out of your league, you are the crazy one for choosing to listen to a stranger and not your mother.” She told me furiously, her face turning red in rage.
“You will pay for this, Eloise. When I find my own parents, I will make sure they prosecute you for all your crimes!” Claire told her, her eyes filled with tears. Mom burst out laughing so hard as she said that. We turned our eyes to her seeing as we weren’t able to turn our heads.
“You stupid, Stupid girl!
What family are you talking about, have you gone mad?
You must think that you are so special, don’t you?
You think because Victoria has a billionaire brother searching and waiting for her, that means you also have a family out there waiting for you in a pretty mansion and luxurious cars, huh?
Well, sorry to burst your bubble, my dear daughter. You have no one out there, I mean not even one person is out there searching for you. Your meddling family got what they deserve, they are just as stubborn and meddlesome as you are and I gave them exactly what they deserve.
You ar nothing but an ungrateful child!
I should have left you for your poor family to raise you. Maybe that would teach you to be grateful!” she let out fiercely.
“But I am not that evil, I saw you and I knew you deserve the best. That’s why took you away from the slum, where you truly belong. I gave you everything and I took care of you. You should be grateful.” She lets out excitedly, smiling proudly.
“What are you talking about, what happened to my family, how did I get to be a member of your ridiculous family?” Claire sobbed regretfully.
“Oh shut up already and stop stalling me with silly questions. I said we are taking our little family reunion to the road. If you think your boyfriends would save you from me, then you need to think again, Missy!” she yelled at Claire, making her cry hard. We were distracted by a knock on the door. For a brief second thought, someone is here to save us.
I smiled to myself as I turned towards Mom, seeing her startled face. She thought the same thing too, I could see it in her eyes. She had a mixture of fear and anger in those eyes, I knew she was not expecting someone to knock so rudely on her door.
“Who is out there?
Help us!
Help us!
We are not able to move our bodies, we have been drugged by our mother. Save us please, she is going to kill us!” I cried out to the intruder.
“Please help us!
She is a murderer and a lunatic, she hurt my family.” Claire added sadly, her tears flowing down her cheeks.
“Shut the fuck up, you idiots!
Shut it, right now!” Mom yelled at us furiously as she ran to her already packed luggage and flipped it open in a rush. She rummaged through her bag and pulled out a gun. I gasped in shock when I saw the woman I had called mommy all my life loading a gun as if she were a gangster or an armed robber.
“Who is out there?!
You better identify yourself right now. I have a gun and I’m not afraid to use it. Leave here and never come back, or else I’ll hurt the girls. I swear I’m going to hurt them if you don’t leave here right now!” she warned the intruder sternly.
“She is telling the truth, she has a gun and she would hurt us!” I cried out in horror, staring at Mom as if she had just magically grown two horns. If anyone had told me that my mom had a gun, I would never have believed it, let alone believe that she was not afraid to use her gun and hurt us.
I guess she must have used it before now and that is why she kept pointing her phone at Claire and I as if it were a gun. She actually thought she was holding her gun and she meant to point her gun at our faces to threaten us. Would she really hurt us, would she pull the trigger on the girls she claims to love, the girls she calls daughters?
“Save us, please!
Don’t listen to her, she is obsessed with us, she can’t hurt us because she wants us to be her daughter. Don’t listen to her!” Claire called out in anger, trying to move from the couch that she had been sitting on all this while. Mom walked up to her and rammed the gun into her head, hitting her so hard that she yelled in pain and fell over to the floor, crying nonstop.
“I asked you to shut it!” Mom yelled at her, kicking her in the ribs repeatedly, not minding if she was in pain or not. Luckily she wasn’t feeling the hits and kicks because our body is still stiff from the drug she gave us earlier.
“This is the police and we are here to get you arrested and save the girls!” someone said from the other side of the door. I smiled in relief, and Claire actually stopped crying for a minute as we focused on the intruder who had come to save us. You could see the relief on our faces as we looked toward the door, hoping it would work out pretty well.
“Who sent you, why are you here, what do you want?!
Is it money?
How much do you want, just name it and I’ll give it to you?!” Mom screamed at the door, her hands shaking as she held the gun and pointed towards the door in fear.
“Yes, Eloise Kendall, we want money.” The intruder responded, dashing my hopes to the wind.
“No! No! No! No!” we both cried out in frustration, our eyes fixed on the door as we begged the intruder to save us from my mom. The door to her room was pushed open from the other side and we saw a few guys dressed in black standing outside the door, looking so mean and ruthless.
“We want our money, Eloise, or we are getting you arrested for kidnapping and murder in the first degree.” The first guy lets out fiercely. He looked like the leader of the group and he looked tougher than the others too.
“Please help us!
My boyfriend and my family are billionaires, they will reward you if you save us, please. Whatever you want from her, they will double it, I promise. Please save us,” I begged pathetically, earning a soft smile from him.
“Did you hear that, Eloise?
I can get double the amount you promised me if I save this pretty damsel in distress. What do you have to say about that, what is your offer?” he asked her, glaring daggers at her.
“Please don’t hurt me, don’t listen to them, I can pay you very well, I promise. I will give you anything you want, ” Mom begged, sounding scared. I noticed that she had put the gun away, and so I was wondering why she trusted them enough to put her gun away.
I got the answer to the question in my head when Mom and the guys burst into a fit of laughter. It was at that moment that I realized that these people were not here to save us. They are with Mom, they are the guys she has been waiting for all along, the guys she asked to get in here and move Claire and I to the van.
