Shot Herself In The Foot

Book:The CEO Contracted Wife Published:2025-2-8

POV: Raphael
“It’s simply, you just have to convince Victoria to sign over the company to Cindy. That’s all you need to do. With that company in her name, my daughter can be accepted by your grandfather. All she needs is the company and Nathan will be hers,” she explained.
“Or you can still choose to pair me with this guy right here. Is he wealthy like you, Does he have estates and companies in his name too?” She inquired excitedly.
“I won’t settle for you if you were the last woman on planet Earth. Back off, loser!” Dominic warned again, this time he pushed her hand off roughly, glaring daggers at her.
“Enough already!
Are you in or out?
Make up your minds quickly so you can get the fuck out of my house before my husband returns and finds you here!” she warned. She is trying to be smart, she wants to take away the one thing the girls have after they all connived and ruined their lives. I decided to play word games with her until she revealed something that might be helpful to me.
“Why are you scared of losing the company?
I thought you claimed that the girls are bastards, do you think Austin will let them take the company?” I asked.
“Well, he won’t have a choice, will he?
At the end of the day, the company still belongs to my sister and she has decided to give it to them just to spite her husband and I. If I could just reach out and strangle that witch to death. She would rather let strangers run the company than me, her only sister.” She complained.
“They aren’t strangers if she adopted them, you know. The adoption papers will be presented to the court if you try to push them away from the family.” I told her. She laughed at my words, shaking her head pitifully.
“What if there are no adoption papers, what if all they have is a price of paper and a lawyer that was paid to ensure that the girls get everything after her death. You know, now that I think about it, I could just kill her and challenge the will in court. Without the adoption papers, the girls can’t fight me in court. Austin will help me get
“Why do you think there are no adoption papers, were the babies abandoned in an orphanage?” I asked in concern. But she frowned and glared at me, looking at me as if she was going to attack me.
“You smart bastard!
I know what you are doing and I won’t fall for your tricks anymore. It’s either you want this deal or you don’t. I won’t say one more word to you unless you agree to give me exactly what I want.” She told me sternly.
“And if I say no to your request, what will you do, keep the truth to yourself forever?
Do you actually think that I can’t find their families without you?” I asked her.
“If you could, you wouldn’t be here asking me, would you?” she smirked, looking pleased. I knew she was right, but I just couldn’t let her get away with this level of mockery and insult that she just dished out to me. If I didn’t know better, I’d say that she tricked us into coming here just to get us to accept her deal and hand off the company to Cindy on a platter of gold.
“Tick Tock!
Tick Tock!
We don’t have all day, sweetheart, why don’t you hurry the fuck up and sign the damn agreement.” Cindy chirped in, sounding excited. I turned to look at Dominic, wondering what his decision would be. I’m thinking of giving them the damn company if that’s what it would take to get her to talk. But Dominic gave me a look that I understood too well. We have this special look that we give to each other when we have a trick up our sleeves.
It’s been so long since we had a business deal that involved us being in the same room with potential business investors and shareholders. But I understand that looks too well, it has saved us money on many occasions. That look has helped us outsmart our business partners and rip off a few idiots who try to play a fast game with us. I smiled when he did that and I just picked up my phone to chat with Carl, ignoring both mother and daughter and leaving them to Dominic to finish off the deal.
“Are you aware that Victoria’s twin brother is in town searching for her?” he asked out of the blue, making Vera so shocked that she couldn’t hide her surprise. I have no idea what he is talking about, this is the first time he is mentioning her brother to my hearing, I didn’t even know that anyone is looking for my wife in this city. I would have been pissed off at him for keeping me in the dark all this while.
But I held back my anger when I realized that he knew exactly what he was doing. That look on her face says it all, it means his plan is working already. I chuckled at the look on Vera’s face, it’s obvious she didn’t see this coming. Even her daughter seems taken aback by this revelation. It’s obvious that she doesn’t know what is going on either. I’m glad that I’m not the only one curious about this new revelation.
“H… H… How did you know, I mean, what the hell are you talking about?
Whose brother are you referring to, did I ever mention to you that Victoria has a twin brother, when did I say that?
Well, If I did, then I was either delusional or even crazy. I never said anything like that, don’t put words in my mouth and stop playing mind games with me. I’ve told you earlier that I won’t say anything until you sign the agreement to get me that company. Just sign the stupid contract and get the hell out of here!” she lets out nervously, pushing the contract to my face. I looked at her with a silly smile on my face because she just shot herself in the foot without knowing it.
“No, Vera. You didn’t make any mistakes before, but you just made a huge one right now.” Dominic told her with a satisfied grin on his face. She squinted her eyes in surprise, looking at us curiously. She doesn’t even realize what she has done with her big loud mouth.
“He never said she had a twin brother, Vera. He only said, brother. You just told us he’s her twin brother, you just let the cat out of the bag, ma’am Vera,” I mocked, laughing at her expense. Dominic smiled too and we both teased her about it, thanking her for telling us exactly what we wanted to hear without having to sign any contracts with her.
“You bastards!
You tricked me!
You used me, you fools!
I won’t let this slide, I promise you. I’ll make you pay for daring to deceive me, I’ll fucking make you pay!” she yelled furiously, glaring daggers at us.
“Get the fuck out of my house this minute!
Leave my sight!
Get out!” she yelled continuously, sounding so pissed.
“Grab what you can and leave now because the next time we are coming here, we will be coming with a court order and thugs to kick you out to the streets!” I told her sternly.
“And as for you?
I’ll advise you to stop dreaming of being a Hawkins wife. You are never coming to my family, my brother is just toying with you to piss me off because you are related to my girlfriend. The moment he finds out that you are not related to Victoria and that I don’t give a damn about you, he will move on to the next girl that he finds attractive and you will be dumped like the trash that you are.” I told her firmly before standing up to leave. Dominic had already signaled me and asked that we leave at once.
I just had to get that out of the way before I left. As u walked towards the door I heard someone’s footsteps as her heels clinked and clicked on the tiles. I turned around to see Cindy running after me while her mom called her back relentlessly. She ignored her mom and kept calling out to me,
“Wait,
Please don’t leave!
I need Nathan, I can’t leave without him. Just sign the contract and help me get him. I promise to be nice to Victoria even if I hate her guts. I can let her take back the company after I’m married to Nathan, I will compensate her for all the times I was mean to her. Just help me get Nathan!” Cindy begged pathetically.
“You are more pitiful than I even imagined. You need serious help, talk to someone before it’s too late!” I told her before shutting the door in her face.
