POV: Victoria
It’s the audacity for me, like, is she trying to infuriate me to death?
“You know, I thought I could pretend as if you do not exist and just move on with Mom and Claire. But it seems you have suddenly gone insane. If you think for one minute that I would ever kneel before you ever again, then you are even more delusional than I thought.” I yelled at her, hearing furiously at her. She smiled back at me, then turned to gaze at my mom,
“Are you going to make her don’t, or not?” She asked Mom in a rude tone that made my blood boil. My mom looked so confused. It’s as if she doesn’t want to make me do it, but she couldn’t say anything to Cindy either. She just kept mute and started on the floor sobbing hysterically.
“I’ll do it if that’s what it would take to get back my daughter, I’ll do anything you want. Just leave my daughter out of it.” Mom sobbed. She was already kneeling on the floor and she reached out to hold her feet and kiss it. But I pulled her back immediately and held her back from making a fool of herself and embarrassing me here. I turned to Carl who had been standing aside all this while, but he looked away and let me handle it myself, just like I wanted.
“Stop it, Mom!
I won’t let you do it. I won’t let you humiliate yourself before this brat and her mother, I won’t allow it!
I can’t stand this humiliation, I won’t let you do it, I won’t take it!” I scolded mom.
“Then leave this place Victoria!
Leave and let me handle this myself and do everything they demand. I didn’t ask you to come, did I?
If I wanted you here I would have picked up your call when you called me and told you I was coming here. I don’t need you here, just leave already. Go home and let me handle it!” she responded furiously, her eyes glaring daggers at me.
“Mom, why are you doing this, why are you even here?
What do you want with these people, why do you keep letting them intimidate and bully you, why Mom?
You always taught us to stand up to our bullies and fight for what we want. So why are you backing down now, why are you willing to do what they want?” I asked her. But she refused to listen to me. She remained in that position, kneeling in front of Cindy while glaring at me and trying to force me to leave.
“Go home daughter, I’ll be back home with your sister soon. I will handle your father’s family and do anything they want as long as it gets your sister back home safely.” She confessed sadly, her tears flowing more freely down her cheeks. I gazed at her curiously and I reverted my eyes back to Auntie Vera and her daughter, Cindy. They had this knowing look on their faces that told me that they weren’t going to let me find out that they lied to my mom. They didn’t even expect Mom to mention it to me in their presence.
“Mom, why do you think they can help you get back Claire from the Mafia Lord, Dominic. What makes you the they can succeed where Ralph had failed?” I asked her curiously. She turned to me angrily and glared dangerously at me,
“Stop talking already!
We can’t afford to infuriate him, you can’t say such rude and nasty things about him. Just go home and I’ll be back in a few hours.” She told me once more, sounding hurt. I could tell that she had been pretending to be strong just to get whatever it was that she had been promised. I looked back at Auntie Vera and Cindy and they had smirks on their faces as if they weren’t expecting anything less from her.
They know she will not leave because they have made her to believe that they have what she wants the most, her daughter Claire. They look so proud and excited, you can tell how excited they are by their actions and threats to Mom. I was getting emotional already, I was close to tears and I don’t know why. I leaned in front of Mom, looking deeply into her eyes,
“I’m disappointed mom!
I’m very disappointed with your actions. I saw you on camera, Mom!
How could you steal from Raphael and I and bring it to these people, do you think they will help you get Claire faster than Ralph?” I asked her angrily.
“They don’t need to get Claire from anywhere, he took her to punish me for letting you go against him. He is furious because you got Raphael and you got the diamonds too. He will kill your sister and sell off everything if I don’t bring the diamonds to him. I had no choice, I had to bring the jewelry I could find so I could save my daughter and my inheritance. I know exactly what I’m doing Victoria, trust mother and leave now!” she ordered me sternly. The ladies laughed at her words, making her look so stupid.
“Dad is a pathological liar, mom!
He is not worthy to mention the name Dominic, let alone stand in front of him. Claire is currently with the Mafia Lord, Dominic. Dad is not holding Claire hostage, she is still with Dominic and there is no way he can get her released from his house. He lied to you mom, you stole from us and came here to humiliate yourself for nothing!” I told her. She shook her head, trying not to believe my words.
“Come out here you bastard!” Mom yelled angrily, struggling to get on her feet. I didn’t even realize that Dad had been there all along until she called him out. I turned in the direction she was pointing to and I saw my father sitting on his recliner seat and sipping from a glass of wine that was placed in front of him. He had four guards with him and they looked ready for a fight if things escalated to that. I guess that is why Mom refused to lift a finger. He has been here all along and he is in support of Auntie Vera and Cindy’s actions.
“You mean you have been there all along and you let this happen to mom?
What kind of a husband are you, what kind of a father are you?” I asked furiously as I glared at him in anger.
“I’m neither a husband to your mother or a father to you, my dear. I’ve sat here and listened to you ranting and threatening my family like a freaking lunatic. How the hell did you get into my house, do you know I can get you arrested for trespassing?” he asked me in a sarcastic tone, reminding me of the time he got arrested for causing us trouble at the hospital.
“You wouldn’t dare call the police on me Dad,
“I am not your father, how many times do you want me to say it before you understand?” he growls at me furiously.
