POV: Raphael
She got into the car reluctantly, banging the door in anger. I feel like reaching out to her and strangling her. I’ve really been with strange guys in the past, I’ve dealt with my cousins, my uncles, and some of the meanest guys in this city. But none come close to Victoria, she is so tough to deal with.
She drives me crazy with her actions, she makes me want to yell and thrash everything around me in anger. You won’t believe that she made me tell before she got into the fucking car. And when she finally got in, she started whining about my lack of empathy, giving me a silly attitude.
She lost a bit of the attitude when we spotted the white SUV on our way out of there. I called my buddy at the prescient and asked him to keep the red light on that lane for twenty minutes. They are Dominic’s boys and I know they will not turn back without getting her.
He is such a crazy bastard, his boys would rather die trying than go back to him with excuses. When I saw them going in after her when she was confronting a security guard, I knew they were not going to back down easily. I don’t think it’s her they want though. If they wanted her, she would have been captured already. I’m guessing that she has something they need badly, that’s why they decided to let her go and follow her instead.
They couldn’t find her after she escaped, we passed them as they were driving past us, searching for her. Victoria spotted them first and I noticed her shivering in fear as she ducked and hid herself under the dashboard. I hate seeing her this scared and sad, but I’m just too pissed to cuddle and pamper her.
“Now you know how to be smart and evade your pursuers, huh?” I scolded her, reminding her that I’d asked her to pretend to be going to a nearby shop so they wouldn’t know that she was trying to get away from them. She ignored my warning and made them chase her around town. Now they are looking everywhere for her, and this time, they will shoot on sight.
“Look out for the white SUV, they are heading your way.” I told my guard that drove her to me. Carl called to inform me that the guys split in three days and they went in different directions to try and find her. So whatever we are going to talk it has to be way out of town or in a more secure location. She has not even apologized for putting me through much trouble, she hasn’t even said one word to me since she got in.
“Why won’t you ever listen to me and do as you are told, why are messing up my life?!” I yelled at her, punching the steering in annoyance. I don’t want her to speak to me right now because I’m angry at her, but a part of me hoped she would at least make an attempt to explain herself and tell me why she went to town without telling me and why the hell is she being chased around town by thugs.
But she wouldn’t say a word to me and that made me so fucking pissed off at her. She must think that I’m a heartless bastard for not reaching out to help even when I spotted her in town before she called me. I had no idea she was coming to tow and came here for a business meeting with a client, I did not expect to meet her in this part of town that is overrun with Cartels and thugs.
I got a call from Carlos Gonzalez after she left my office. He gave me some contacts to reach out to if I wanted a seat at the table. The contacts he gave me were the shareholders of the newly established nightclub that was the talk of the city. If I can bully one of his partners and buy him off, that would give me a sit at the table. If I wanted more shares to my name, I would have to get rid of two or three partners and fill in their spots.
I was with Kyle and a few of my boys meeting with two of the partners at a private restaurant across the building they visited. This part of town is controlled by Carlos, there are a few hotels and clubs on the block, so he has his boys on the streets selling his drugs for him. I was just getting started with the first meeting when Carl pointed out to me that my fiancee was being harassed on the other side of the road.
I have been so distracted since I saw her being harassed over there. I couldn’t focus on my business meeting and I was forced to cancel both meetings to find out why she was here. I sent Carl out there to find out what was going on while I sent one of my guards to go over there and listen to their conversation. It didn’t take long before I found out about the thug her sister brought to my house and the trouble he brought with him.
“Why didn’t you tell me a visitor was coming over to my house, do you know the precautions I take to keep my house hidden from my enemies?
What if his phone is tracked, what if the stolen car’s GPS is hacked and they follow him straight to my house. Do you know the kind of trouble that would bring upon us?
This house is supposed to be a safe house, my safe house. Nobody knows about it and that is why it is called a safe house. When you bring drug dealers and thieves to my safe house, then it’s no longer a safe house, Victoria!
A lot could have gone wrong while that thug stayed in my house, I have too much at stake to be acting so careless. There are many people looking for a way to end me, but none of them ever get the chance to follow me to that house because it is a secret, Victoria, my secret!
I was so confident to bring your family there because I know it is safe. Now I regret bringing you there because you are nothing but trouble!” I told her furiously.
“You know, I am beginning to think that bringing you into my life was a huge mistake. I should have just made you work for my money, I should never have let you in my bed. We should have kept this damn relationship professional. You are not worth dying for, Victoria. I won’t get into another power tussle with Dominic Morell because of you.” I told her furiously.
“You know that guy?” she asked in shock, finally speaking to me. I heaved a sigh of relief after she spoke to me. The trust is that I don’t really mean these cruel words I’m yelling at her. I just want to get a reaction out of her. She has been awfully quiet and it’s beginning to get to me.
A part of me wanted her to start talking, but I didn’t want to be gentle with her yet. She screwed up again, that’s why I attacked her with my words, trying so hard to infuriate her and get her to tell me how she was feeling. She still hasn’t said much, but at least she is looking at me again and that is a good sign. It means that she has given up on me, yet.
“Keep searching until you find the car and keep tracing that damn phone until it’s found. Do you understand?” I told Carl. He assured me he would get to the source of this whole mess pretty soon. Now it’s left for me to make sure I get Victoria to trust me with the truth.
“I asked you a question, Raphael. Who is this Dominic that everyone is so scared of?
And how do you know him, are we getting attacked because of you?” She asked in shock, her eyes fixed on me.
“Dominic is the mafia lord that was betrayed and usurped six months ago. He was my friend too, but I chose to support his biggest enemy, Carlos. And since he lost his title and power because of me, he hates me so much and he considers me his number one enemy.” I told her truthfully. She gasped in shock, her eyes getting teary.
“Don’t give me that look, Victoria!
I know I have my issues with the guy, but that has nothing to do with you and your sister. So start talking right now!
Tell me exactly what is going on. Why are they after you, and where is Claire?” I asked her, making her sob sadly.
“Claire and her boyfriend are missing and it’s all his fault. He stole from Diminic!” she told me sadly. When she told me that he stole from Dominic, my eyes widened in shock and I could say is,
“Holy shit!
They are both screwed!”
