Still Valerie’s POV
“Should I be worried about you, Malia?” I asked her angrily.
“And what exactly do you mean by that?” She retorts teasingly. From the excitement in her voice, you can tell that she is having such a great time as she keeps teasing me.
“Never, mind. It’s no use talking to you when I’m sure you will go back and do exactly what you want, besides I don’t have time to banter words with you. I think I’ll have to learn to keep my thoughts to myself and shut you out completely.” I threatened furiously. She wasn’t the least bit worried about my threats because she knows that I am only messing with her. Maverick already knows what I’m thinking, and he knows that there is no need to hide his identity anymore because the truth is out already. Merely looking at the damage in the parking, you can tell that it wasn’t done by ordinary humans because such damage cannot be achieved by humans. In just a few minutes, they have brought down some pillars in this building, and all the cars around them are already damaged beyond repair. As if that was not enough, the security guards in the building that came to separate them earlier are lying on the floor, critically injured.
Some managed to escape, but Devon beat up the rest of them because they gave Maverick the chance to hurt her. I sighted Charlotte and Liam by the corner. They are here to help Devon, but they can’t come any closer because they could get hit in the crossfire. They just stood by the sides watching us closely, and waiting for a perfect opportunity to strike. Seeing their tenacity makes me conclude that I was right after all. They are not doing all this with their senses. Devon must have can’t a spell on them to make them hate me even more. I don’t know how she managed to find them, but I’m pretty sure that they didn’t hate me this much before I left the city. Even if Charlotte and Nolan hated me so much, I know that Liam does not hate me that much as well. He could be furious at me for breaking his heart, but he wouldn’t hate me this much, would he?
Even Cameron and Beverly we’re not here to witness such madness. We all know how obsessed and crazy they can be, we are aware of their feelings for Maverick and their deep hatred for me. But they weren’t here, they would never risk their precious life for a stupid vendetta. I’m sure they just have heard the crash and howls coming from their fight. Beverly is a Lycan princess and she has some powerful Lycan guards with her. Not to mention the Lycan spies that have been watching Maverick for a while now. These Lycans have their powers, so I’m pretty sure that they must have felt the aura of an Alpha and a white witch. Yet they stayed back and let the security personnel handle it because it’s dangerous to come into this Underground parking space. For all we know, the damage to the pillars may cause the building to collapse and crush it all to kingdom come. That is why they stayed back and waited there, despite their love and obsession.
I’m sure the Lycan spies must have called to inform King Gerald about the emergence of an Alpha king. They must have felt his aura strongly, and they would immediately know that it is the aura of the Alpha king. There is no wolf on earth that could possibly steal his aura, so they know it is him. And the white is already on their radar for some time now. This is not the first time that she is attempting to double her powers to get enough power to face King Gerald and destroy him. She has engaged them before and failed, she has attempted to eliminate him a couple of times, and yet she keeps getting it wrong always. They have seen her before and faced her in battle as well and now they know her aura. So when they felt both auras, they know that the two arch-enemies of the Lycan king are down there together. They could have risked their lives and come after us immediately after they discovered our location, but they didn’t show up down here.
They only informed the king about it and they waited for his arrival before making a risky, life-threatening decision that may or may not cost them their lives. But Charlotte and her team are way too stupid to see the dangers of coming in here or maybe they can see the dangers, but they just don’t care about their lives. I won’t say their lives are worthless, I mean, come on, Liam is a multi-billionaire, and Charlotte and Nolan and rich kids as well. But they don’t act with their senses anymore because Devon is now in control of their minds, and their actions. I could say it is because the Lycans did not sense my aura, they do not know yet that I am the last healer and Malia is doing a great job at hiding my aura.
Yeah, you could say that if you wanted to make up an excuse for the behavior of Charlotte and her team of idiots. You could say, maybe they wanted him to think they aren’t watching. Then when he finally finds me, they will show up in their numbers and attack us vigorously. That could be true, you know. That would have been the case if only Malia was truly hiding my aura from such powerful lycans. But that is not the case, Malia is so weak and fragile. She just had a revelation that revealed the identity of our enemies and the possible solution to our problems. Reliving the past always takes a toll on her, and the fact that she healed Maverick before the spell was cast on me made it a lot harder for her. Now she has to cast a powerful spell to stop a white witch from destroying our plans, or even killing us. So there is no way in hell that she would be able to hide my aura, especially when there are some powerful lycans in the vicinity.
So, there is no excuse for the stupidity that is being displayed by Charlotte, Liam, and Nolan. The only explanation for their behavior is that they are under Devon’s spell. Their hatred for me made them easy prey for such a powerful witch. Now they have no control over their actions and thoughts. She even made them her minions while they were still working with King Gerald. I wonder if it was her idea to trick the king, or theirs. Whatever the case, they just need to leave here before they get hurt. While Maverick and Devon were engaged in a fierce fight, I spotted a Range Rover speeding towards the entrance and when I turned in that direction, I saw that it was Nolan.
He was holding an orb, the same orb that Charlotte wanted to use to steal my powers the other day when they attacked us. I knew Liam was lying when he said that Devin had killed Nolan. I knew this the moment I sensed her aura, if she had killed an innocent human, her aura would have been more senile and evil. But she still possessed the aura of a white witch, so I knew he had to be telling lies. Just that, I wasn’t expecting him to be waiting around with an orb that could hurt me. I thought he would be nursing his injuries from our last encounter, but it turns out it was part of their plans all along. I turned in their direction, and Charlotte’s eyes met with mine, then she smiled evilly at me. That same mischievous smile she always gives me when she’s about to be mischievous.
“Focus, my love. We need to get away from here. Come back to me, focus on the mission.” Maverick let out calmly. His voice in my head was like an electric jolt that jerked me back to reality. I was so far gone in my thought, I was seeing so many things that is making my mind stray from our mission. I turned to Devon and she was smiling evilly, just like Charlotte. I realized immediately that Devon was distracting me on purpose. She wanted to get me distracted until Nolan arrived with the orb. I tipped my head to the side, and I reciprocated with a smirk of my own,
“Now, my love. Show her who you really are, bring the bitch to her knees!” I instructed Maverick as I called out to her and said the rest of the spell. Immediately after I finish the spell, there was a loud thunderous sound in the sky that took out a part of the wall, letting in a bright light that shone on Maverick alone. I thought the spell would hide the moon and take away the powers of the white witch, I even wondered how that was going to happen when the moon was not even out yet. It’s still daytime and the moon is not out. But that wasn’t the case, the moon was not going to hide because of one witch, instead, the moon was summoned for Maverick and it came down to answer to the Alpha king.
Her powers were not taken away, but they were useless to her because she can’t do anything to Maverick, not when the moon goddess is backing him up. He let out a loud throaty groan shifting to his beast Hunter, ripping his clothes in the process. He threw himself in the air and landed with a loud thud as Hunter let out a very loud, ear-piercing howl that shook the entire building that stood around us. Hunter is a very massive beast that weighs at least 240 pounds, With length spans ranging from 6 to 7 feet. His fur is pitch black, just like the night sky. And his eyes are as white as the moon, the same as Devon’s eyes. This is the first time he is shifting into his wolf, I saw Hunter for the very first time and Malia was so excited that she let out a joyful howl and wagged her tail excitedly. There are many werewolves in the building, and as he howled to the moon, they let out a painful outcry to the moon, beseeching the moon goddess. I don’t know if this is part of the spell, but when they responded to the Alpha King’s howl, Devon fell to her knees in submission to her king.
“I warned you not to call me a little boy, didn’t I?” Maverick asked, sounding cocky and a bit mean.
“Stop it Mav, she has been through a lot already, and the idea is not to force her to submit, it’s to convince her to come back to our side because we need her. We can’t complete this mission without her. So try to put away your nasty attitude and play nice with our new friend.” I instructed him. But, he wouldn’t listen to me, he wasn’t ready to play nice with her. I think she hurt his ego when she dared to challenge him and even engage him. He took a few steps in her direction, giving off dangerous vibes, and letting her feel his dominating and domineering attitude. He stood in front of her, intimidating her with his powerful presence.
“The only reason you are still breathing is because of the bond we share. Unlike you, I still try to play by the rules. I know it’s a crime if I take the life of another shapeshifter or human. So I’m going to say this only once, and I hope you don’t let me repeat myself. Let my words sink into that thick skull of yours. It’s either you join our team or you fuck off, stick with me or stay the fuck out of my way.”
