“Due to the arrival of the CEO, we are currently cutting down on our workforce and rebranding the business. Your services are no longer required in this company, Mia.
You are fired!”
I kept reading his message over and over again, trying to figure out what is going on. We have cameras all over the building, I’m sure that they would have watched the recording and seen that it wasn’t my fault. She came at me, she fucking pushed, all I did is evade her attacks, I never laid a finger on her, I never even wanted to stand there and exchange words with that stupid bitch, then why the hell am I being fired?
I tried calling Mr. Dawson a couple of times, but he wasn’t taking my calls. I called Janelle, and all she could say is that there is nothing she can do about it tonight because she is still on duty and the manager had refused to see her or speak with her. I couldn’t possibly go back there tonight, I’m too exhausted to do anything tonight. I just have to wait until tomorrow, then I’m going to find out exactly why I was fired. I’m going to get her for this, I won’t let her walk over me, simply because she is betrothed to that arrogant bastard. I can’t believe that he is supposed to be the true Alpha king. If all werewolves are like him, I would have skipped this town already. I guess this is how the Huntingtons behave, that is why the moon goddess cursed them all. I’m glad she cursed them, I mean, I’m not glad they are cursed, but as long as Alpha Maverick and his stupid girlfriend are cursed as well, then I love it.

I slept off with anger in my heart, cursing the Alpha and his girlfriend. I have never felt the urge to take revenge on anyone before, even when Charlotte and Newton treated me like trash, I never felt the need to hurt them back, all I wanted to do was to escape and save myself from more abuses. But, with Cameron, I have this impulse to hurt her and pay her back for hurting me and the girls at the club. I believe that she doesn’t deserve to be the Luna. I may not be a member of this pack, but I have friends who are, and I know they don’t deserve to be treated poorly by that brother fucking whore.
I woke up to the ruckus around the house, I am still frantic from last, and I want to get back my job. But I need to sleep a little bit more, and the noise around the building is just too much.
“What the hell is going on here?” I screamed in frustration. I threw the sheets off me and got out of bed angrily. I walked out of my room and stormed out to yell at my noisy neighbors. I was so shocked to find some demolition laborers and an excavator in front of our building. I saw my neighbors moving their properties out in a hurry, and I could see some occupants from other buildings close to ours moving their things out of the house as well.
“W… W… What the hell is going on here?
Who are these people?
Why are you moving out of your house?

Everyone was too busy trying to get their valuables out of the house, I couldn’t get anyone to speak to me. I ran to the guys dressed in overall, the demolition laborers, at least that is who I think they are, and that is how they are dressed. They took one look at the worried expression on my face, and they handed me a piece of paper that has a bunch of signatures and a seal…
“This building and the other three buildings next to it have been sold to my boss. He wants to begin working on his properties immediately, so I’m afraid you have to move out today, ma’am.”
That was all he said to me before turning to join the rest of the guys as they prepared to pull down the buildings.
“This is not right!
We had no prior notice!

I sat on the floor sobbing and yelling in anger, cursing the new owners of these buildings for putting us in this situation. I was left to cry in peace, no one bothered to help me up, and everyone was busy trying to get their properties out before the demolition begins.

They kept yelling into their microphones, warning everyone to pick up their valuables and leave immediately. I have no fucking choice, I ran back inside and packed the few things I owned in that room. I have only two boxes, I couldn’t spend my money on stupid things like clothes and shoes because I have a lot of bills to take care of. I had tears in my eyes as I pulled my two big boxes out of the building. Memories of the day I ran away from home came back to me, and I couldn’t stop my tears anymore as I thought of everything I’d been forced to endure in life. I wish I have my own family, I wish I knew my parents. I’m pretty sure that life would have been more easier if I have them.
“Oh My!
I’m sorry you have to go through all these horrible things, you poor child!
If only you had listened to me when I told you not to get a house, but you insisted on living on your own. You could have shared a room with Janelle, It would have saved you all these terrible disappointments,” Janelle’s mom scolded me softly, pulling me into her arms as I sobbed sadly
“You are always welcome in this house, Valerie, you can stay for as long as you desire. You are like a daughter to us, and we love you.” Her dad added kindly.
They are the closest thing to a family that I have, that is why I went back to their house to stay until I get my own place. I felt better with them around me, Janelle took me to her room and helped me arrange my things.
“That Alpha is a bad omen, he is a bringer of bad luck. I wish I never met him!” I let out with a deep sigh as I flopped onto the bed like a sack of potatoes. Janelle laughed out loud, she knows that I blame him for everything happening to me. Since our first encounter, I’ve been having different erotic fantasies about him, I see him whenever I close my eyes, sometimes even catch a glimpse of him when my eyes are wide open, but before I could confirm his presence, he would disappear into thin air, making me look like a fucking lunatic. As if that is not enough, I got fired because of his crazy girlfriend, and now I just lost my house as well. Are these not enough reasons to call him bad luck?
“He is our Alpha, and we love him. You only hate him because you two had a bad first meeting. If you get to know him, I’m sure you will come to love him as we all do.” She explained with a smile.
“Did I hear you say that if I get to know him more better, I would like him?” I scoffed.
“He is the true definition of bad luck, I pray I never meet him again!” I added angrily. This time she giggled like a baby, then she got up and picked up a brown envelope from her vanity table. With the way she is proudly holding it to her chest, I knew she was up to no good. She made a sad puppy face, holding the envelope in front of my face,
“Too bad you hate him so much. I got you a VIP pass to his welcome party tonight,” she let out sadly, flaunting the tickets in my face.
“You must be joking!
What makes you think I would be interested in going to welcome that arrogant bastard?
If I had the power, I would send him back to wherever he is coming from and I’ll make sure he doesn’t find his way back home ever again.” I admitted.

Who would have ever thought that you have such evil plots in you? Too bad you’ll be missing out on the opportunity to work in his office as his personal assistant, secretary, or even his coffee maker. No matter what position you get, the Alpha has promised to take care of those who apply to work for him tonight, they would have been given accommodation, a car, and some allowances that would help you upgrade your wardrobe. But since you are not interested, I’ll just trash this right here…” I snatched it from her before she could grow it in the mini trash basket in her room.
“Come on, Jane, stop playing around!
You know how desperate I am, you know what I’m going through presently, so don’t play stupid pranks on me and tell me what you are talking about.” I let out sternly, looking at her curiously as she told me that the Alpha fired a bunch of lazy workers from his company. He created a lot of vacant offices, and he wishes to employ people to replace them. He wants to give the jobs to people in his pack, so the first stage of the interview will be conducted at the party tonight.
“If you ever wish to work with the Alpha, if you want to get a job and accommodation very soon, then you must attend the Alpha welcome part. “she explained excitedly. It seems like a big joke, I don’t know if I should get excited or even more furious. Why on earth did he decide to conduct the first stage of the interview at his welcome party, is he trying to force everyone to attend his party, what kind of a leader would turn a welcome party into a job interview, is Alpha Maverick an insane Alpha?
“I’m not a member of your pack, and you saw what happened between Cameron and I at the club last night. What makes you think will be allowed to attend the Alphas welcome party?
And even if I’m allowed to attend the party, what makes you think would get a job in the Alphas company?
Have you forgotten about my first encounter with him, do you think that he will not recognize me and kick me out of that party?
He hates me, Jane, and sad to say, the feeling is quite mutual. I hate everything about him, why would I want to work with such an arrogant bastard?
