The Real Villain Exposed

Book:The Alpha And His Broken Mate Published:2025-2-8

King Justin Angelo
I’ve tried so hard to hide my mistakes from everyone, including my son. It’s bad enough that I let myself get tricked into committing a crime that is punishable by death, but what is worse is the fact that the real villain is still out there, posing as the king of rogues, telling everyone who would care to listen that I am the evil one.
If only I had told everyone the truth about the incident that happened twenty-two years ago, If only I had come clean about it, then all this wouldn’t be happening right now and my son would never have fallen victim to the same villain.
**Flashback, twenty-two years ago**
There is an ancient prophecy that states that a great white wolf that is blessed by the moon goddess would sit on the throne and unite our people.
At that time, there was a man named Brandon Wellington and he happens to be a powerful man. It is said that he is a strong warrior that has never been defeated. With time, everyone got to believe that he is the great white wolf because he is so strong.
Around that same time, there was a strong battle going on between us and the rogues. The rogues were infidels that refuse to live under my rule. They keep searching for things to complain about and they just would stop creating problems in our society.
The leader of the rogues is an Alpha of a very little, his name is Alpha Smith. Smith used to be an Alpha of one of the little packs that we’re lacking some essential amenities. He envied the other larger, prosperous packs because they keep thriving and prospering every day. He was too damn greedy and selfish.
He came to me with a proposal, promising me a certain percentage if only I could help his pack with the resources to be wealthy and great. He kept coming with different tactics to get me to listen to him, when I wouldn’t give in to his demands, he decided to get help from some Alphas from other packs.
All he wants is to sit at the same table with the other wealthy Alphas, if only he had put in more work with his pack, am sure he would have gotten to the same level as those other Alphas, but because of his dubious ways, he chose to seek the easy route to greatness.
Then he came up with a plan that would have worked, if only he wasn’t such a tricky, conniving bastard. He decided to rally the rogues and turn them all against me, abandoning all our ethics and principles, joining teams with the rogue leader, and filling their heads with so many lies that the truth became obscured.
His lies spread like wildfire and before he could be stopped, he had already established a strong front that made him unstoppable. He operates from the shadows, sacrificing the rogues and some of his pack warriors in an endless battle with us while he sits back and watches them all get killed.
When I realized that I was killing my people, I called off every attack on the rogues while I intensified my search for Smith. He launched a coordinated attack on other packs, gaining the wealth that he had always desired by stealing it from other Alphas.
After many failed attempts, I finally located his hideout, I found out that he was locked in a prison cell in the woods just close to my kingdom. When we managed to get him out, he told us a sob story of how he was usurped by the great white wolf, telling us that the great white wolf has finally come to defeat me and become the king of all wolves.
I refused to believe his words, he is not just a liar, he is also a traitor and he loves playing mind games with me so I sent some warriors over there to find out if his story checks out. They came back with reports on a man named Brandon Wellington.
The information they gathered proves that that Brandon is now the rogue leader and it says that he is challenging me to a duel for the throne. I have heard a lot about Brandon Wellington and judging by his records, it shows that he is not a rogue or a villain.
I just couldn’t figure out how he fits into all of this. I kept trying to figure out how Smith got him into all of this, I had a few meetings with him as I tried to figure out why he is getting into all this, To my greatest surprise, he spoke exactly like Smith, listing all the silly requirements that Smith had been asking for.
I tried to make him see that he was fighting the wrong war, I tried to make him reason properly, I tried to make him realize that this war was unjustly started by a greedy wolf and if he truly is the great white wolf, he wouldn’t be trying to take sides in an unjust war, he should be fighting to unite our people, not taking sides with the bad guys.
While I tried to convince him, I also noticed that he was not in charge of the operation like I was made to believe. Whenever we spoke, he never responds to me immediately, he always tells me that he needed to consult with his people before he gives me a response. I realized that something ain’t right because whenever I spoke to him, he would be a little understanding but after speaking to his people, he comes back angry and more determined to get me off the throne.
I needed more time to investigate what was really going on. From the look of things, it feels like he is not the one leading the rogues, it felt like he is getting his orders from someone else. I have to find out who it was.
To keep them off my plans, I agreed to the combat and a date was fixed for it. Preparing for the combat kept them too busy and they didn’t notice that a few of my warriors have sneaked into their camp, spying on their every move.
A few days later, I got information from my second in command that our spies were coming back with all the information we are looking for. He seems happy about their return, I guess they must have briefed him on their findings and he loves the outcome of their investigation, that must be why he is so pleased to announce their return.
We were waiting for them in the palace, then we got alerted of a crisis that we never expected. My kid brother and his family had been killed by the rogues. The news came to us as a shock, so we took off immediately, driving to the crime scene. My son had been close by when the news was broken to us, he had heard that his uncle and cousins are dead but he had not heard them when they said that Brandon Wellington was responsible for their deaths.
When we arrived at the crime scene, I instructed my son to wait in the car because I don’t want him to get involved in this meaningless war that is tearing our people apart. When we got to the spot where their bodies lay, we were greeted by a note that says,
“See you at the battleground king Justin, I hope you love this little present from me and my people, that is exactly how I’ll kill you during the combat. Be sure to say farewell to your family before you come to the duel, it would be the very last time you see them.”
I screamed out in pain and anger, squeezing the note in anger. He had really crossed the line this time, he had done the unforgivable and I’ll make sure he pays for it. I left that crime scene with my heart filled with so much pain and anger and I headed straight to Brandon Wellingtons camp and I called him out immediately, demanding he gets ready for our combat right away.
I did not ask any questions, neither did I wait for any explanation, I forced him into having the duel right away and I killed him with so much ease, killing every warrior in his camp. I could see the disapproval on the faces of my second and third in command but I just didn’t care anymore, he went too far, he crossed the line and he just paid the price, that’s all I care about.
I felt so filthy and guilty when they all lay dead before me, I couldn’t stay one more minute here, I left instructions with the Alphas that had come to witness the duel, telling them to take care of their family and make sure they don’t stir up another revolt, then I ran off immediately, speeding towards our cars that’s parked in front.
I needed to get out of here as soon as possible, the judging look I was getting from my son was enough to make my heart ache with guilt and remorse. I was rushing out of there when I noticed that my son wasn’t following behind me. I thought he was just pissed at my actions, but when I turned around to him, I found out that Brandon’s daughter was his mate.
I had no fucking choice, I had to make him reject her. This issue is already too complicated, I can’t possibly let him get mated with her, it would just get more Messier. I forced him to reject her immediately, I cant deal with his issues, I just want to get out of this place.
When we finally got back to the palace, the spies we sent there were waiting for us and they reported their discoveries to us.
I was so shocked to discover that I had been tricked by that slimy, deceitful traitor Smith. It had all been a huge setup. It has been him all along. I just can’t believe that he had gone through all this trouble just to try and steal the throne from me. I found out that while we were away, he held a meeting with the top-ranked Lycans, trying to convince them that I am not fit to be king.
He had used Brandon Wellington as bait and he had caused me to kill an innocent man. The Lycan lords had tried to capture him and lock him back in his cell but he slipped out of their hands and escaped into the woods. They lost him in the woods because he has some secret hideouts that he used to escape.
And now, twenty-two years after that awful event, he is still trying to fool me again.
