Riley’s POV
He is trying to play smart on me, I guess he has forgotten who he is dealing with. He has something to gain from all this, that is why he is withdrawing backward, covering his ass while I suffer. I tied reasoning with him, but he claims to be doing all this to protect his fucking brotherhood. I know that there is nothing can say to him that would make him change his mind. A lot of money and properties are involved here, and from the information, I have on him, I know that it is practically impossible to convince him to change his mind. He is a great fool that is prepared to do anything for the money.
It is rumored that he sold his mom and his sisters into the slave market just to make a couple of millions of dollars that he still gambled away in the casino. He is mean and so fucking annoying. I won’t sit here and banter words with this lunatic, So I issued a stern warning to him, I warned him of the consequences of going against me and I left him to muse over everything I just said to him. I know people like him they don’t get moved by empty threats, I need to prove to him that I mean every damn word that I say to him.
“How did it go, did he tell you where you can find my husband?” Casey asked me when I got back to the car. She sounded concerned and curious, but that is not new, I expected this reaction from her, after all, it’s her kids we are looking for. What got me furious is the fact that she referred to that bastard as her fucking husband. I mean, that is so messed up.
“I’ll pretend that I didn’t hear you just now, Casey. Don’t you ever refer to that bastard as your husband, ever again!” I scolded her angrily.
“Fine, I won’t. But tell me how your meeting went, did you find him, do you know his location?” she inquired once more.
“No, I don’t have it. Pakhan is proving to be a hard nut to crack. But trust me, I have my way around this. I’ll find them in no time. Trust me,”
Just like clockwork, my phone rang immediately after I said those words, and I picked it up immediately, screaming at the caller as if he is the cause of my problems.
We found one of them, Boss. We found the two vans, but we were only able to save one of the girls because the driver of the second van took the other girl away and he abandoned the van by the roadside. We don’t know how he managed to slip past our roadblocks, but I’m doing everything in my power to locate him and the other girl. In the meantime, I would Casey to come by and identify her daughter. There are other kids here as well, and for all we know, Austin could be bluffing, maybe he has only one of the girls. Maybe he lied to upset your sister and at the same time, send us on a wild goose chase. Her presence would make it way easier for us to find them.” He implored.
I was going to pay a visit to the DEA office to see my friend and tell him the identity of the man behind that mask that Austin has been wearing since he went for that operation. He thinks he is smart, he thinks he has covered all traces of his past. He may have tricked the cops with his new identity but I’m going to point them in the right direction. I have the file on my laptop, I got it from the doctor that did his surgery.
He made them delete every footage from the camera, and he destroyed every file that contains his medical history. He thought he had succeeded in destroying everything, he had no idea that the hospital backed up its computers and security cameras. All information stored in the computer will automatically be saved in the backup system. When Liam started digging into Austin, we found out that this is how he managed to hide from the cops. They don’t know his real name, he hides his face whenever he comes out of his house. He never goes out for his illegal business without a face mask. He knows that if his real face is seen by the cops, it would be so easy to take him out.
You know, I used to wonder why he was bold enough to flaunt his new looks in front of me. I guess he has always known that a day like this was coming and he wanted to taunt me with it. He wanted me to feel so stupid when I find out that he has been right there, under my nose all along and I didn’t know about it. Kudos to him, he succeeded in making me look like a bloody idiot. I’m sure he is having a good laugh wherever he is hiding. I hope he laughs to his satisfaction because I’m going to hit him so hard that he would never be able to hurt anyone ever again.
I didn’t go with my laptop, but I went to the DEA anyways. I took Casey along with me, I needed her to corroborate my report with the cops, that is the only way Leroy will agree to look into this case again. My relationship with Leroy is so complicated, but I know he trusts me and I’m pretty sure that he won’t let me down. For a Mafia Lord and a cop, our friendship has come a long way and I’m not going to jeopardize his job by giving him the wrong information. He trusts me, and he is still going to handle this case even if I don’t give him concrete evidence to work with. But I chose to do this the right way, and that is why I need Casey to Testify. When I get home, I’ll send him the evidence that is safely stored on my laptop. That will set the ball rolling, and soon, that monster would meet his downfall.
“You need to learn to respect my privacy Drake, this is a government office and I’m a fucking government worker, so I deserve your respect!” he screamed at me when I walked into his office without knocking as if I own the place.
“Shut the fuck up, Roy. You and I know that I don’t give a shit about your stupid office. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t important, and you know it. Besides, you don’t deserve my respect, you can’t demand for my respect, you dickhead. You have to fucking earn it!” I retorted with a smirk. I enjoy seeing him this frustrated.
“You do know that I can have you locked up for as long as I want to. I can cook up enough evidence that would keep you behind bars for as long as I wish!” he threatened me, smiling evilly.
“No, you can’t. You don’t have the balls to try such shit with me!” I retorted smugly, wiping the smile from his face as he glared furiously at me, making me laugh so hard that my stomach hurt.
“You crack me up, Roy. But that is not while I’m here. If I want to laugh and joke around, I’ll go to the fucking circus. I’m here for business.” I told him firmly. One look at my face is enough to tell him that I’m no longer joking around. He got serious as well and we talked about the possibility of putting Austin Foster on the list of the most wanted criminals in the city. As expected, he was shocked by the news I just shared with him. They never thought that he could go that far to hide his identity. Not in their wildest dreams would they have searched hospital records for him.
“That guy is wanted in six different countries for various hideous crimes. I would never have believed that he is hiding right under our noses. All you have to do is to send me the files you have on him, and I’ll take it from there. I’m sure my bosses would be interested in this case as well.” He asserted firmly.
I knew I could depend on him, I just need to need him the file, then I’ll wait for him to check it out and verify the information, then he’ll get back to me. He has a few questions for Casey, he wanted to know everything she knows about him, including how she met him and why she agreed to marry him. She answered his question like a pro, and I was surprised to see that she has an answer to every question he asked her. It’s easy to tell that she has rehearsed these lines a couple of times before. Some of the answers she gave him do not add up, and I wonder why she is lying to him when she knows that we are here to seek his help. He noticed that she is lying as well and he wanted to scold her for it, but I gave him a look that says,
“Let her be man, I’ll handle it later.”
I wonder when she had rehearsed these lines. It seems like she has been planning for something like this all along, and now I’m beginning to think that she has been lying to me as well. Is she still trying to protect Austin, does she have feelings for him?
“What was that about?” I yelled at her when we stepped out of his office. I mean, why is she trying to sabotage my efforts, why is she protecting him?
“Wait, is that Riley?” she asked in surprise, ignoring my question when she spotted Riley sitting comfortably with the District Attorney, smiling like a moron. I followed her gaze and I frowned in dissatisfaction as we both glared at him, while he smiles crookedly, making no attempt to hide his amusement.
“Drake, wait!
You don’t know why he is here, you can’t get involved in this, he could implicate you, or worse still, he could frame you for what you know nothing about. We need to leave, right now!” Casey urged me urgently, trying to pull me towards the exit. I stopped to gaze at her for a few seconds, and I wondered why she is acting so strange because she had that same nervous look that she displayed in Roy’s office a few minutes ago. It makes me feel like she knows something that I don’t know and it is making me suspicious of her. I hate being lied to, I would never trust her again if I ever find out that she has been lying to me about everything. I would never forgive her.
“There is something going through your mind, Casey and you are going to tell me exactly what is going through your mind because I can not help you when I know that you are lying to me. First, I’ll deal with this punk, then I’ll get back to you and when I do, you better come clean with me because I’m beginning to lose my trust in you.” I told her truthfully, shrugging my arm out of her grip. I leveled her a hard glare before storming toward Riley in anger. I haven’t even gone too close to him when he got up from his seat and ran to us excitedly.
“Oh my God!
Thank you guys so much for looking out for me. Finally, my guys have found evidence to prove that myself and my fiance were framed. Can you believe that some crazy guys put on some customized plastic facemasks that made them look like Loretta and I?
It is so crazy, man. But that’s the truth. I couldn’t believe it when the evidence was presented before me by the DEA, it seems like a dream. But I always knew that the truth would come out, I knew I could not pay for what I didn’t do. It’s just so sad that someone is going through so much trouble just to frame me up.
Drake…
I’m so sorry about Mia’s condition, I would never hurt her on purpose, you know how much I love her, don’t you?
I promise I’m going to get out of this and ill get the idiots who did this, and ill fucking get them arrested for this.” He let out sadly, making me Saint my eyes in surprise as I stared at him and wondered if he hit his head somewhere or something. He just put on quite a show, and I’m very impressed by his acting skills and all that.
Damn!
He is so fucking good!
This guy should be a star in Hollywood, how did I miss this wonderful talent?
Casey and I were staring at him like a fucking clown on a stage. He must be enjoying our frustration as he gazed at our confused faces and burst into a fit of laughter. He came forward excitedly, trying to prove to everyone around that he is excited to be free again, and that he is even more excited to see us here. I guess he wants them to believe that we came here to check up on him because we care about him. He came forward and hugged Casey excitedly, then he repeated the same motion with me, but mine was different because he whispered in my ears while he hugged me,
“I’ll be out soon, brother. And I’ll finish what I started. That is a promise, dear brother…
“
