Stalling Tactics

Still Drake’s POV
From her sad cries and rambling, I could tell that she doesn’t know where he is holding her kids. If they were in this house, I’m sure she would have run in to get them before he could hurt them. In my head, I kept imagining all she had been through, and how she had lived without her kids all this while. She must have been so traumatized by it, how did she survive it?
I have always known that Austin Foster is a bastard. His history shows that he is not just a ruthless mob boss, but he also suffers from a serious mental disorder. I never thought much about it, I always thought that it is just a rumor that is fabricated by his enemies, just to discredit him and make him seem more dangerous. But with what I’m seeing here today, I’m pretty sure that every damn thing that was said about him is nothing but the truth. He is a lunatic, and a bastard. And when I finally get to him, I’ll make sure he gets exactly what he deserves.
“Get everyone, pull out the boys from all our family mansion. I need you to search all his warehouses and the safe houses as well. I need every kid in the building safe and sound. I’m sure he has my sister’s kids in one of those buildings. I need you to get them out to safety, I’ll be with you in a few minutes. I need to deal with this guy myself.” I instructed Liam, giving him all the information he needs to locate the rest of the warehouses and his safe Houses as well.
We have the location already, we have destroyed a few of his warehouses, but we couldn’t get to the rest of his warehouses and safehouses that was listed out for us. I got the call about Riley’s meeting with my wife. I had to stop the mission and go over to that restaurant to save my wife. If only Mia had followed my instructions and let me handle this matter the way I’d been doing. Who knows, maybe I would have completed my mission, and maybe I would have saved my nieces from their crazy father.
Now we are working on a pretty slim deadline. We have to get to those remaining warehouses and warehouses before Austin could reach out to them and have those kids moved out of the building. I’m hoping that Liam finds a way to get to them before him, I don’t know what I would do if anything ever happens to those kids. I don’t even know how Casey would live if that happens. She would never forgive herself, and so will I. I will always blame it on Mia and Riley for making me lose focus when I was supposed to locate the rest of his secret hideout, warehouses, and safe houses.
I may not blame Mia because she is a victim in all this, just lie to everyone else. I would blame that stupid brother of mine, Riley. He brought this bastard into our lives, and he sat there like a fucking idiot and he let him marry our only sister. He married her to torture her and use her against our family, yet Riley did nothing to stop that marriage because he was trying to protect his ass. My parents may not know who he was when he came to marry her. Casey may be as ignorant as my parents, she may not know that she is about to be thrown into the lion’s den.
But not Riley…
He knew, he had always known that this guy is a fucking asshole. But he did nothing to save her, and now, two innocent kids about to pay for his mistake. I have never met my sister’s children, and I don’t even have their pictures on my phone, so there is no way that I could possibly describe them to my boys. I couldn’t even as Casey for their pictures or descriptions because she is not ready to speak to anyone right now.
I simply ordered them to get all the kids out of there first, when all the kids are safe, then Casey can come over there and identify her kids. watched Liam drive off with a few guys in the SUV. He dialed a number on his phone, giving orders to the guys and instructing them on what to do. I was still attending to Austin Foster on the phone, listening to all the disgusting things he had to say to me about my sister and my family. I could have just hung up on him and burst into this building angrily, but I need to give Liam and the guys some time so they could get their job done before Austin finds out that I’m planning to get the kids out.
I kept stalking him on the phone, even when Liam left with the few guys. We kept throwing words at each other, threatening and abusing each other. A few minutes after Liam left, I was still on the phone with him and I smiled in satisfaction because I thought I have succeeded in stalling him long enough.
I thought I was being smarter than him this time around, I had no idea that Austin has his own plans as well. I heard the sound of rolling blades in the air, and when I looked up, I saw a helicopter flying toward the rooftop of the building, Austin’s building.
“No, No, No, No…
Drake, please stop him!
Don’t let him go!
Stop him, Please Drake,
I beg you!
My kids, My kids!
He has them, he had my kids.
Please stop him, Drake, don’t let him go, please!
He’ll hurt them! He’ll kill them!
Please, Drake, please!” Carey cried out to me, seeking for my help for the first time in forever. It hurts so bad to see her this way.
This moron thinks he is smarter than me, Drake Osborne. He has been stalling as well, he kept me engaged in a conversation, while he waits for a helicopter to whisk him out of this place and take him to safety. I have to give it to the guy, he is so wise and very meticulous. He has a lot of resources, and he puts them to good use whenever he is in trouble.
“How many guards does he have in the building?” I asked her firmly as I forced her into one of the SUVs. She didn’t think much about it before mentioning to me that he had pulled out all his guards earlier today. He used them to set a trap for her and her boyfriend.
“Kill anyone on sight, and watch out for sensor triggers, this building may be rigged to explode.” I instructed my guys as we got into the remaining two SUVs and drove through the huge gate of his house. When she told me there may be no one else in the building, it dawned on me that the building may be rigged to blow at any point in time.
Luckily, I have a guy who is quite good at tinkering with stuff like bombs and any other explosives that you could think of. He was able to detect the sensor trigger on time, and he detached it before ushering us into the building. The helicopter was still hovering above us, looking for a perfect spot to land and pick him up. I sent the bomb expert in there to try and diffuse the bombs so we don’t get taken unaware.
While he went in to check on the bomb, the rest of the guys and I stayed outside the building. We aimed at the roof of the building and we kept shooting nonstop, trying to take down the helicopter. I guess it must be bulletproof because no matter how much we shot at it, it refused to come down. Instead, it turned its ugly face towards us and the compartment for weapons beneath it was opened immediately and they started shooting back at us, forcing us to duck and take cover.
It’s a good thing that I left Casey in one of the bulletproof SUVs for safety. I’m sure she would have gotten hurt under such heavy fire. I peeked from my hiding spot, and I saw that a ladder has been thrown for Austin, his guards, and a lady that was sat ding beside him. It’s easy to tell that she is a whore, I can’t believe that he had brought his whore to this house while still married to my sister. How the hell did she cope with all this?
Merely thinking about it was making me so pissed, I couldn’t care less about the shots being fired at us, I came out from my hiding spot and I fired back rapidly, aiming for the machine gun beneath the helicopter. I took out the guns and I kept firing rapidly, but this time I aimed at the ladder, trying to get Austin or his whore. Austin was the first to climb up the ladder and I missed him, but I got his whore and one of his guards. I guess Casey never bothered to check out how many guards were still left in the building. They were more than six guards standing on the rooftop, waiting for their turn to climb off the ladder.
But Austin is too selfish to give them more time. After his whore fell down the ladder, he knew there was no way he could still wait around for them to climb up to the helicopter, because the bullets were coming more rapidly now. After I took out the guns, my boys came out from their hiding spots and also attacked with equal tenacity to match mine. We kept shooting at them up there until Austin got tired of waiting and he abandoned the rest of his guards.
“So long, Suckers!” he yelled down at us, using the pilot’s microphone. I tried shooting at them, to no avail. Then I heard his laughter through the microphone,
“You’re not invisible after all, Drake Osborne. I would love to see how you get away from this one.” He mocked us from his helicopter, or rather, he mocked me from up there, laughing like a fucking clown.
“I’m sorry boss, I tried to disarm the bomb, I really tried, but it has a failsafe, disarming it would make it go off immediately. I could only stall the time and buy us a few more minutes. We have less than thirty minutes to vacate the premises or we get blown to hell.” He sounded so urgent, and it made me so upset. There was no way I could scold him when he obviously just did his best. Besides, we weren’t prepared for this, and I certainly wouldn’t want to put his life in danger.
“Alright everyone, we have thirty minutes to leave this hellhole. Go in there and get anything we could need in our investigation, pic anything you can lay your hands on, and get the fuck out of there!
You know the drill, let’s get in and out as fast as we can.
Let’s go!
Let’s go!
Let’s…”
“No, we can’t leave!
Tyler is still in there!” Casey yelled at me, cutting my words short.
“Who the hell is Tyler, and what is he doing here?” I asked in confusion, but she didn’t stay back to respond to me. She turned around and sprinted into a building that has been rigged to explode.
“Are you fucking insane!” I called after her, but she couldn’t care less about me and my question. Her top priority is to get this Tyler guy out of there and I got curious because I have no idea who the Tyler guy could be or what their relationship was. I ordered the guys to get busy and I ran in after her immediately, wondering who could be so important to her. I got the answer to my question when I got into the building and saw her hugging a dead guy on the floor.
Now I know why I perceived the stench of blood on her when she first came out of here. Austin had said that she just lost her lover, but I never knew it happened today. The pain is still fresh in her heart, that is why she was so rude when she came out and saw me standing outside their gate. Truly it would be so bad if she lost her kids today, I’m not sure she could survive it.
“I’m sorry for your loss, Sey-Sey, Who was he?” I asked her, trying to express my concern for her misery.
“It doesn’t matter who he is, Drake. And I don’t want your sympathy. Just help me get him out of here!” she retorted curtly, giving me a look that says, “Mind your damn business!”
I ignored her and called some guys to help me get him out, then she led her to her room to get a few things that she claimed were very important. We had only a few minutes left, but she insisted on going up to the control room to get her dead boyfriend’s belongings as well. We were so lucky to make it out of that building before the bomb went off.
It was so damn close…
