Tracing Casey’s House

Book:One Night Stand Published:2025-2-8

Still Drakes POV
Charles was very serious when he said that he didn’t want an apology from my parents, but from my sister. I would have asked him to explain what he meant by that, as it’s obvious to see that he doesn’t want to speak about it anymore. I opened old wounds when I asked him to retell the story of how his wife died. It made him I’m very emotional, I’m not sure he could say anything else after his angry outburst. His voice was so loud when he yelled at me, and it made his curious son come out of his room to check on his father.
I can only imagine what could be going through the little boy’s head right now. At such a tender age, he has already witnessed such brutality and inhumane behavior. It hurts to k ow that my parents are the cause of their troubles, and I wish there was something I could do about it. If only I could turn back the clock, I would have stopped all this from happening to this innocent cute boy.
He is so wary of the thugs that have been chasing them all around the city, he will always be looking over his shoulder for the rest of his life because of fear. Just hearing his gathers voice is enough to make him run out of his room to check on him and make sure he is okay. I wish he were my son, I would have taught him how to channel his fears into his fist and fight back.
When all this is over, I would seek out this little boy, and I would help him get rid of his fears, I would teach him to be strong and fight back. There was no need to ask more questions to upset them anymore, I think I’d gotten enough information already. I stood up from my seat and pulled out a business card from my wallet as I walked forward and knelt in front of Raymond.
“I’m not a bad man, Ray, but I can help your daddy fight off the bad men. Copy this number and save it on your phone, and whenever you come across any of the bad men, you call me instantly and I will always respond to your call.” I assured him. I made it look like I was talking to Ray, but I’m sure his father knows that I was extending a hand of friendship here, and I hope he takes it.
“I know you may want to get revenge for what my family did to you, but I’ll advise you not to soil your hands and get yourself in trouble with people who aren’t worth it. I’ll handle it, I’ll make sure I get to the bottom of this issue. But until then, I will need you to keep your head down and avoid any strange visitors, especially when they are Russians. They are not good people, and they could kill you if you fail to cooperate. If you see any signs of danger, I need you to call me immediately. Okay?”
He nodded his head and accepted the business card, then I left his house and went back home to face my parents again, and this time, I’m going with evidence. If they think that I would give up on my investigation just because they ordered me to, then they are terribly mistaken.
“Did you do it already, did you get him out?” mom asked me immediately after I stepped into the living room.
“No, mom. I didn’t get him released from jail. If he did the crime, then I’m pretty sure he could serve the sentence as well. I’m going to make sure that Riley stays in jail until he learns his lesson.” I told her smugly, watching as the color drained from her face.
“How dare you, Drake?
How could you defy me, how dare you?” my dad yelled at me, trying would fierce, but to me, he looked like a fucking clown because there is absolutely no way that I would believe that he is such a strict and disciplined father anymore Not after what he has done.
“Who did it dad, who are you two covering up for?
Was it Riley, is that why you want him out of jail?
I was informed by my informants that it was Casey, but I do not want to believe that my sweet, innocent Casey could do such a thing. It’s just not possible, she is so brilliant and caring, so damn perfect. I am pretty sure that it cannot be her, and that is why I’m going to ask you one more time, who are you covering up for, who is the culprit?” I asked. They both looked shocked as I scolded them for everything they did to that innocent family.
My mom burst into tears as she lamented how she could not forgive herself for all she has done. Dad bowed his head in shame as I scolded them for all the people they had murdered just so their secret could not be exposed.
“Not only did you kill his wife and daughters, but you also murdered the eyewitnesses that wouldn’t support your evil acts, and you tried to eliminate the poor innocent man and his eight-year-old son!
How heartless can you be!
When did you suddenly become monsters?” I kept yelling nonstop, loving the fact that I had them exactly where I wanted. They couldn’t lie anymore, and they certainly won’t make any demands of leniency and mercy from me as well. I was so shocked when they confirmed what Charles had said earlier. They said they were covering it up because they know that Casey would never do it on purpose.
“It’s all your fault, Drake!
You should never have left!” my mom yelled at me as she sobbed into her palms.
“How could you let this happen, dad, how did Casey get involved in something like that, how the hell did this happen?”
I asked in frustration. I still can’t believe that Casey would do such a thing, she is the best among us, she is so quiet and calm. I had no idea that she was getting addicted to hard drugs. I never knew she would take solace in heroin, I never even thought that she would miss me that much, I had no idea that my departure would cause her so much pain and heartache. Could that be why she never called to check up on me all these years?
Dad said she was more affected by my departure, it hit her harder after a few months, and she started using drugs frequently and hanging out with the wrong people. That night she was wasted, as usual, and she couldn’t concentrate on the road while driving and She nearly hit their car.
“I don’t care about the details dad. A man Los his wife and two kids, and all you did is pressure and frustrate him even more. You sent thugs to kill an innocent man and his son, dad!
How could you be so heartless?
I don’t care how you see it, dad, but you and mom are going to apologize to Charles and make amends for your mistake. You would compensate him for everything you have taken from him. He doesn’t deserve the treatment you melted out to him, and I’m damn serious when I said you were going to apologize to him for making his son grow up without a mother. She murdered his wife and kids and you all covered it up, so that makes you all guilty as well. You will apologize to him, that is my decision and there is no going back.”
“Oh, shut up, Drake!
You have no idea what you are saying. We will apologize to no one, I will never admit it, I won’t stoop so low!
Besides, she didn’t hit them on purpose, she didn’t even hit their car, per se. She swerved out of the way at the last second. But the other driver wasn’t fast enough, he crashed into an electrical distribution transformer. And that is the real story, son. The two drivers were at fault, and bi was not going to let my daughter bear the brunt of his anger and frustration.
She was so miserable for months, Drake. I couldn’t possibly let her go through the shame and embarrassment that that news would have caused her if I let it get out. I don’t care what anyone has to say, I was only trying to protect my daughter, and that is all that matters to me. You can get upset if you want to, but I did what I thought was right at the moment and I do not regret my actions. Now get the hell out of my face, I don’t want to speak about this matter anymore.”
“Fine dad, I’m leaving!
You can choose to visit my wife and her family in the hospital, or you can abandon them to their grief, just like you did to Charles.” I let out angrily as I stood up and left their presence before I do or say something that I’m going to regret.
I could feel myself getting upset, I can’t believe they are still being hard-hearted and stubborn. They are holding on to the conviction that they haven’t done anything wrong. I knew there was no need to talk to them because they will never listen to me, not when it involved Casey. If I want them to apologize to Charles, then I’ll need to convince Casey to pay Charles a visit and apologize to him first, then that would motivate them to do likewise.
“I’m not sure she would welcome you in her house, boss. Ever since she got married, she has been keeping to herself, and she banned everyone from coming to her house. So I’ll suggest suggestion give her a call before you visit her” the butler advised me calmly as he handed me the address to Casey’s house.
I don’t know what the fuss is all about, but I’m certainly not informing her about my intended visit to her house, not after our last argument. She may not want to see me yet, she may decide to leave the house or something. I’ll just show up at her house and I’ll make her listen to me. She won’t throw me out if I visit her unannounced, will she?”
I guess I’d find out when I get there today, but first, I need to check on Mia. It’s been a few hours since I left her in the hospital, I’m guessing she would have woken up already. It’s going to take a while for her to get used to the fact that her sister is dead, I don’t want to call her parents on the phone to ask about her. That would be rude and disrespectful. I’m sure her doctor won’t appreciate it if I called him on phone to check on my wife. I’m supposed to be by her side, she needs me now more than ever, I don’t know why I don’t want to be by her side, it just sounds so crazy.
I drove back to the hospital, with thoughts of Ray in my heart. For some reason, I seem to be drawn to the kid, and I feel so ashamed of my family for hurting them this way. He is such a good kid, and I wish I have a son just like him.
When I got to Mia’s room, I heard a lovely voice from the door as she tried to find out what had happened to her from her parents. The doctor had said she may suffer from memory loss, so I wasn’t surprised when she kept asking too many questions. Her parents tried to respond to her questions to the best of their ability, but Mia is just too inquisitive. She even made her mother cry with her too many questions. Her father took over when her mom couldn’t handle it anymore. I could tell that he is doing a better job, but Mia still asked about me, and I felt her moms staring as she kept asking her father about me.
I could let her get hysterical, she needs to be in a good mood, and that is the only way she can heal faster. I know I said I don’t want to see her yet, but I couldn’t possibly ignore her feeling now that she has finally opened her eyes. Her mom would never forgive me if I don’t go in now. I used the door open, and I plastered the warmest smile on my face as I walked toward her.
She looked a bit skeptical when I walked into the room, I guess she is wondering if I have been standing outside all along. I ignored the curiosity on her face, I walked up to her and placed a peck on her forehead, holding her in my arms.
“I’m so sorry Drake, I never knew Rey is such a bastard, I just want to…”
“Shhhh…
That’s enough, Mia. We don’t have to talk about any of that until you get better. I need you to forget everything that happened between you and my brother. I don’t care about that because it’s not important. All I care about is your health, my love. You need to get better so I can take you home with me, I miss you so much.”
She relaxed in my arms as I whispered nice words to her. Her parents watched our public show of affection and they smiled approvingly as I cuddled her back to sleep. She slept so peacefully, and I know she wouldn’t be perturbed anymore because she knows I am not mad at her for what she did. If only she knows that I am still furious at her if only she knows that my calmness is just a prescription from the doctor. I’m only following the doctor’s instructions to keep her happy and stress-free. Deep down in my heart, I’m still so pissed at her because she messed up, big time.
When she fell asleep, I left the hospital once more and followed the direction on the piece of paper that I obtained from the butler and I drove straight to Casey’s husband’s house to search for her. Besides, I think it’s time I met with her husband, I’ve never seen the guy before, not even a call from him. If I didn’t know better, I would say that the guy is avoiding me or something. He must know that I am back in town, yet he never shows up for any of the family gatherings. Well, since he wouldn’t come to me, I guess I’ll go to him myself.
Their mansion is easy to locate, I didn’t need to search for too long, and I did not ask for help from anyone. The details from the butler are self-explanatory. So I got to her house faster than I could ever imagine and I stepped down from my car and walked into the building.
My phone kept ringing in my pocket, I didn’t bother picking because I know it was Liam and I am not ready to talk to him yet. I need to sort out this issue with my sister before it is too late. I parked outside the building, so I walked to the gate and I introduced myself to the Russian guards that stood at the gate and on the premises. I was asked to wait a while for them to verify with the boss.
I stood out there, waiting to be ushered in, but that never happened. I heard the clinking sound of hills meeting the floor and I know without being told that Casey was coming out to meet me out here, I mean, outside the huge gate.
“What the hell is wrong with you, Drake, why would you come to my house without calling me first, are you fucking insane?” she screamed at me nervously, her eyes filled with punished tears.
