chapter 63

Book:Married to a Retired Playboy Published:2025-2-8

“If that’s all it takes to prove myself, I will do it.” Darryl said. He took the bottle of alcohol and gulped down everything in it. As Darryl gulped down the remaining contents of the bottle, a surge of confidence coursed through his veins. Dawson’s eyes widened as he watched Darryl gulp down the alcohol.
“You’d rather do this than accept the truth, man?” Dawson asked.
“You’re the one who doesn’t want to accept the truth,” Darryl said before signaling to the lady who had been staring at him since he arrived at the club. He had noticed her before, but he was too occupied with his thoughts about Vanessa. Now that Dawson had challenged him, he was ready to have fun like always.
She rose from her seat, her movements fluid and deliberate, and made her way towards him. As she approached, Darryl’s eyes never left hers, his intensity drawing her in like a magnet.
As Dawson watched the scene unfold, he was willing to stop Darryl before he did something he might regret the next day. “You don’t have to do this,” Dawson said, trying to talk Darryl out of it before he started.
“You should go home to your wife before she accuses me of contaminating your pure heart,” Darryl dismissed Dawson’s advice.
Maybe it was the pain or the alcohol, but something was driving Darryl nuts, and he was going out of control. Thinking about it, even if he had feelings for Vanessa, he wasn’t sure if Vanessa would reciprocate his love. So why was he holding on to vain hope?
Anger surged through Dawson, and he could no longer tolerate Darryl’s annoying behavior. “Enjoy yourself while it lasts,” Dawson said before storming out of Darryl’s presence, exiting the club.
After watching Darryl and Dawson’s little exchange, the lady settled onto Darryl’s lap with a gentle smile. Her body molded to his as he wrapped his arm around her waist. His hand rested on the curve of her hip, positioning her snugly against him.
As the music pulsed around them, Darryl welcomed the feeling of sensation. He had missed those days when he could do anything with anyone and forget about it. It was time to go back to the way things were before Vanessa came into his life.
Without thinking too much, Darryl’s lips claimed hers in a bold, unapologetic kiss. The world around him melted away, leaving only the thrum of the music and the spark of the sensation.
In that moment, Darryl was lost in the sensation of her lips, the softness of her skin, and the intoxicating scent of her perfume. The kiss deepened, their mouths moving in perfect sync, his hands moved around her body, enjoying every inch of it. As he surrendered to the passion of the night, his mind still drifted to Vanessa. Instead of the lady in front of him, he saw Vanessa’s face, her eyes, her lips, her hair, and the scent of her faint perfume.
Damn! He muttered to himself as he pulled out of the kiss. The lady on the other hand had a smug look on her face, oblivious to the fact that Darryl was thinking about someone else all along.
Liquid content landed on Darryl and the lady before their lips could claim each other again. “What the hell?” The lady gasped in shock as the liquid dripped from her hair to her face. Darryl, who also had the same shock on his face, looked up to see the person who poured liquid on them. Tania’s furious face met his as he lifted his head.
Even in the dimly red light, he could tell that Tania was boiling in rage, but did he give a fuck about it? No, he didn’t.
“What the fuck, Tania? What the hell are you doing here?” He yelled at her, his voice louder than the booming music in the background.
“I should be asking you that?” Tania retorted angrily, matching Darryl’s energy. “You,” she turned to the lady making out with Darryl. “You better leave here before I pour something more than liquor on you.” She yelled at her.
“You won’t dare.” Darryl said through his gritted teeth.
“Try me,” Tania said as she fumbled for something in her bag. The lady, scared for her life, got out of Darryl’s lap, but Darryl grabbed her by her hand before she could leave. She stole a glance at Tania and saw the fury in her eyes. The look on Tania’s face prompted her to snatch her hand away from Darryl’s grip.
Satisfaction washed over Tania as she watched the lady walk out of her presence. Since the only language Darryl understands is action, she was ready to do crazy things to make Darryl understand her. Tania thought in her heart.
Engulfed in fury, Darryl rose from the sofa, he gripped Tania by her arms. “What exactly do you want from me? I am tired of you acting like you own me. Can’t you just find someone else to claim as yours and get away from my life.” Darryl spat.
“Just so you know, I am not acting like I own you. I actually do own you. I own every inch of you, your soul, your body, and your heart. And I won’t just sit back and watch someone else touch what is mine. Just like I did to Vanessa, I will do to anyone who tries to get between us.” Tania said as she bore holes with her eyes into Darryl’s eyes.
“You are crazy. You are out of your mind. Every time I see you, I regret the day I allowed you to seduce me. I can’t even tolerate your presence anymore.” Darryl said as he let go of her arms.
“When I was thinking you would be busy mourning Vanessa’s absence, you were here, shoveling your tongue down a stranger’s throat. Have you no shame, Darryl? Think about it, what if Vanessa was the one who saw you doing that, how would she feel about it?” Tania said to him, her voice lower than before.
“Have you forgotten that you sent Vanessa away?” Darryl said with a sly smile on his lips. He knew Tania wanted to play the emotional blackmail card with him.
“I didn’t send her away. Everything I did was to save her from you and to save our relationship.” Tania said. She was already calm, trying to get Darryl to understand her.
“Save her from who? Can you hear yourself?” Darryl said as the anger began to brew inside him again.
“I already made myself clear, Tania. I don’t want to see you again. If you come anywhere near me or my family, I will do what both of us will regret for the rest of our lives.” Darryl said underneath his breath, warning her.
“You should get ready to lose Vanessa if you want me to stay away from you.” Tania said.
“What are you trying to say?” Darryl asked with a confused look on his face.
“I know where Vanessa is, but I won’t tell you until you do everything I want.” Tania said with a smug smile on her face. She had Darryl in her hands, and no one would take him away from her.
