She knocked on the door and pushed it at once without waiting for a response. The startled Arthur turned suddenly when the door opened and behold the woman he loved, his heartbeat and Princess Charming, willfully walking into his bedroom.
‘Children are indeed unifiers,’ he mumbled to himself.
“Why is your phone switched off, Arthur? The children and I are worried. Even Daniel wanted to speak with you.” Nichole breathed freely and poured out all her worries at once.
Now, he chuckled and maintained eye contact with her. He got up from the bed and walked up to her. He threw his two hands apart and requested, “Come to your Prince Charming, Nichole. I won’t hurt you again. Never.”
She hesitated a bit and locked eyes with him before she reluctantly walked into his outspread hands. He cuddled her before giving her a long kiss. Meanwhile, her phone kept ringing while they were kissing.
Then, she released herself and pleaded, “Please speak with the children. They had been worried.”
He collected the phone from her and pecked her. He smiled and looked at the caller before picking up the call.
“Hello, Freya,” he greeted her.
“Father,” she called out with a pretentious worry
“Yes, Freya. How are you?”
“I’m fine, Father. You scared us. What happened to your phone?”
“Thank you for your concern, My dear. I was exhausted and put off my phone to avoid disturbance.”
She could imagine what was happening at her father’s apartment and dismissed him to avoid interrupting anything.
“It is all right. I am glad to hear from you, Father. Daniel will speak with you later.”
“It is all right.”
“Bye.”
“Bye.” Arthur responded and faced Nichole.
“Kindly speak with Louis, too,” she pleaded and tried to call Louis.
When it connected, she handed the phone over to him.
“Hello, Louis. It is me.”
“Hello, Father. It is good to hear from you. I was scared when I called and discovered that your phone was switched off. I hope there is no problem.”
“There is no problem. Thank you for your concern.”
“It is all right, Father. See you later.”
“Bye.”
Now, Arthur kept her phone on the center table and took her to the couch. He sat down and made her to rest her head on his thigh.
With an affectionate look, he asked her, “Do you think I will ever hurt you, My sweetheart?”
Nichole looked at him and revealed innocently, “I was confused, Arthur.”
“Don’t be. You are everything I need now. You made me the proud father of intelligent children and able to hold Bailey’s family. I will always love you.”
Now, Nichole released the emotions that she had bottled up for seven years and kissed him to her satisfaction.
“Is this you, Arthur? I can’t believe that we just kissed leisurely.”
Then, Arthur felt loved and declared, “Yes. It is me. You just kissed the man you love. We will go back to Seven Oaks in the morning and return on Monday morning, just as you planned. Will that make it up to you?”
She kissed him again before she responded, “Yes. I can’t wait.”
“We will go to the registry and begin our marriage process that Monday too.”
Nichole looked into his eyes in disbelief and asked, “Are you pulling my legs, Arthur?”
Arthur pulled her closer and assured her, “There is no need to pull your legs. We have waited for too long. Let’s not delay any more.”
Now, Nichole was convinced and accepted, “That will be okay by me. I love you, Arthur.”
“I love you too, Nichole.”
Later, they had dinner together and chatted while they ate. Then, he whispered to her, “Who said; Arthur, I will not be hungry at dinner.”
She laughed shyly. After dinner, Arthur drove her back to her apartment, and her driver picked up her car later.
Then, he reminded her, “Your suitcase is in the trunk. You may need it tomorrow.”
“Ok, dear.”
Thereupon, Arthur pulled her closer and gave her a good night kiss.
“I love you.”
“I love you too.”
“See you tomorrow. Good night.”
“Good night, My dear.”
After a while, Freya called Louis to cheer him up.
“Hello, Big sister. Did you speak with Father?” he asked her.
“Yes. I spoke with him through Mom’s phone. They are together now.”
“Oh! You are a master planner, my dear last born.”
Louis giggled despite his misery, “It is okay. Nothing is too much for the unity of our family.”
“You are right. I owe you a hug.”
“Thank you, for that.”
“See you later.”
“It is all right, Big sister. Later.”
At The Island
It had been fifty days after the wedding and fifty days of lovemaking that had bonded the couple. After the miscarriage, Olivia could not keep track of her menstruation cycle for that, it was difficult for her to say whether she was pregnant or not when she began to nauseate.
Although she was not vomiting, she occasionally experienced some fatigue. Now, they mistook her swollen breasts as being chubby. Olivia was six weeks pregnant, but was not aware until Denise noticed that she slept a lot and ate little. He took a critical look at her one morning while she was lying on the bed and raised an alarm.
“Sweetie,” he called out.
“Yes, Hubby,” she looked into his eyes and answered.
“Should I get a doctor? You look pale.”
“Am I? I am only tired. I will be fine.”
“I know you will be fine, but let’s just get the doctor.”
“It is all right. You can get him. But I am certain that I will be fine.”
Denise picked up his phone and called Dr. Steve Harper. The Medical Director at the Bailey International Conglomerates Headquarters.
“Hello, Mr. Bailey. It is good to hear from you. Congratulations once again.”
“Good morning, Dr. Harper. Thank you for the compliment. You need to see my wife. How soon can you be on the island?”
“Your wife? Is it an emergency?”
“Yes, my wife. It’s not an emergency. You can take your time”
“It is all right. I will be with you in two hours.”
“It is okay. We are waiting.”
“See you, later.”
“Thank you, doctor. See you later.”
When the call ended, the doctor smiled and muttered, “What could be wrong with her other than pregnancy?”
After he got out of the call, Olivia curled up to Denise for warmth and expressed herself, “I’m lucky to have you as a husband. I love you, Denise.”
He smiled softly and acknowledged, “We are lucky to have each other. I love you, my Angel. Let’s get ready for breakfast.”
“It is okay,” she said and got out of the bed.
While they were eating, Denise took time to observe her and noticed that she could only pick at her food and urged her, “Angel, please eat your food.”
“I am eating. It is just that I don’t like the taste of the food.”
“But it is your favorite,”
“I am aware. I will eat it later.”
Afterward, she rested her head on his left shoulder and watched him eat. Now, Denise began to feed her gradually while she cooperated with him. At last, she was able to eat half of her usual quantity and slept off. He lifted her from the parlor to the bedroom, laid her on the bed, and covered her with the duvet.
He observed her for a few seconds and prayed silently for her, “My Angel, don’t be sick, please.”
He fought back the tears that had formed in his eyes and walked back to the parlor to continue with his meal. When he was done, he joined her on the bed and watched her sleeping quietly while awaiting the arrival of the doctor.
