Chapter 50
Damian’s POV
After the usual greetings there was awkward silence between Jade and I. With a teary voice, she began to apologise for what happened earlier.
“Jade, it’s fine. You don’t have to apologise. Valerie told me about everything that happened. Claire is a very despicable person to blackmail you like that. And I don’t blame you for not telling me also, I am sorry for not giving you the chance to.” I explained to her so that she would calm down.
“Thank you so much, Damian. You have always had a good heart.” She said.
“Will you be around for our wedding? I’m inviting you cordially. It’s next tomorrow.” I said, jokingly.
“I would love to be there but I can’t come anywhere close to America for now. My name is still in the news so I can’t risk that. But I’ll pay a visit whenever I can.”
After random talks, she ended the call and we went to bed.

(Two days later: The Nuptials)
Valerie’s POV
The sun cast its golden rays upon the lush gardens of Richardson Villa, illuminating the most anticipated wedding of the season. Valerie Smith and Damian Richardson, after navigating countless obstacles, were finally exchanging vows.
The ceremony’s grandeur reflected the merging of two influential families, mine and Damians’. Crystal chandeliers hung from majestic oak trees, casting a kaleidoscope of colors across the immaculately manicured lawn.
Guests began to arrive, dressed in their finest attire, and were greeted by the soft strains of a string quartet. The air was filled with the sweet fragrance of blooming flowers, carefully arranged by the estate’s renowned florist.
I stood before the mirror, resplendent in a bespoke, lace-adorned gown, in my bridal suite. My mother and maid of honor, Tracy, fussed over the delicate details.
“You look breathtaking, darling,” my mother whispered, tears welling in her eyes.
Tracy smiled. “You’re meant to be with Damian. Today marks the beginning of your happily ever after.”
My heart swelled with emotion. The journey to this moment had been tumultuous, almost impossible with Jade and Claire in the way. But I knew I was making the right choice.
I was wondering what Damian would be doing now. I felt a wave of nervousness mixed with excitement. I just hope that everything goes well today. I’ve heard tales of the groom leaving the bride at the altar. I just pray…
What on earth am I thinking about? Damian can’t do that to me.
I shake off those silly thoughts from my head as my Father knocked on the door, telling me that it was time to go.
As the music swelled, I emerged, my father escorting me down the aisle. Damian’s gaze never wavered, his eyes burning with adoration.
The ceremony proceeded with elegance, the officiant’s words weaving a tapestry of love and commitment.
Valerie and Damian exchanged vows, their voices filled with conviction.
“Do you, Damian, take Valerie as your legally married wife to love and to cherish in sickness and in health until death do you apart?
“I promise to love and cherish you, through triumph and adversity,” Damian whispered, his voice trembling.
My response was equally heartfelt. “I vow to stand by your side, to support and honor you, forevermore.”
As we exchanged rings, the sun broke through the clouds, bathing us in its radiant light. The Heavens are watching us! I thought to myself.
“You may now kiss the bride.” The officiant said.
Damian unveiled me gently and gave me a tender kiss.
With a tender kiss, we sealed our union.
The reception was a masterclass in opulence. Champagne flowed, and the orchestra’s melodies filled the ballroom. Guests danced, and laughter echoed through the halls.
Damian and I shared our first dance as husband and wife, our eyes locked in a loving gaze.
“I’m honored to call you mine,” Damian whispered.
I smiled. “Forever yours.”
Today was indeed the happiest day of my life.
As the night wore on, the celebration intensified. Fireworks illuminated the sky, and the room erupted in cheers.
In the midst of the revelry, I and Damian stole away, finding solace in each other’s arms.
Our love had conquered adversity, and now we would build a future together.
Our private jet soared into the sky, leaving the chaos of our wedding celebrations behind. We were bound for the island of Bora Bora, a secluded paradise in the South Pacific. It was very amazing, how Damian already has everything planned out.
As we cruised over turquoise waters, I snuggled into Damian’s side. “I’m so happy,” I whispered.
Damian wrapped his arms around me, his eyes never leaving me. “Me too, my love. Me too.”
We arrived at the place and the view was amazing.
Our overwater bungalow awaited, its glass floor panel offering a glimpse into the underwater world. I gasped as Damian carried me across the threshold.
The next few days blurred into a haze of bliss. We snorkelled among rainbow-hued fish, explored hidden coves, and indulged in romantic dinners on the beach.
One evening, as the sun dipped into the ocean, Damian led me to a secluded shore. A candlelit dinner was set up beneath a canopy of stars.
“I wanted to recreate our first dance,” Damian said, his eyes sparkling.
My heart swelled. “You’re romantic. I never you would be this romantic.”
Damian smiled. “Only for you.”
As we danced under the stars, Valerie felt like she’d found her soulmate.
Our honeymoon was a dream come true, but reality awaited. I wondered how their marriage would unfold, amidst the complexities of our families’ business dealings and our own personal lives.
Damian sensed my unease. “We’ll face everything together,” he whispered.
My doubts dissipated, replaced by trust in my husband.
In this island paradise, we forged an unbreakable bond. Our honeymoon lasted for a week as we made plans to return and it was the best days of my life.
