Chapter 20
Valerie’s POV
I was fuming inside but Claire still stood at the door, clearly not surprised.
“Oh, you’re siding him now, right? You’d rather raise your voice at me. Valerie, just because of the guy that came into your life few weeks ago! You don’t even know anything about this guy’s past.” Claire shouted.
“And you do? Are you the one that knows about his past? His past doesn’t matter at this point. Even if it does, let it be my problem. Not yours, for Christ sake. Let me worry about the kind of person Damian is.”
“Claire, this is my cross to carry; my burden to bear. I don’t know why you are trying to get involved so much in my life. I know you are my friend and you are trying to support me, which I appreciate, but I think you are doing too much.” I continued.
All the time I was speaking, Claire just fixed her eyes on me. Not saying a word.
“Claire, I hope that you can understand what I’m trying to say. You should be helping me to get closer to my future husband not advising me to stay away from him. Our wedding is in two weeks. I can’t run away from it now, even if I want to. I just had to accept the fact that Damian is my husband and he has been so supportive.”
“Claire, I believe you are matured enough to understand what I’m saying and why I’m saying it. Thank you for accommodating me but I’m leaving now.”
I pulled my luggage to the entrance door. I was expecting Claire to say something but she didn’t. She simply walked into her room and shut the door. Well, maybe she should think about what I just said.

Claire’s POV
When Valerie left, I was infuriated. I was packing from end to end inside my room.
“Valerie had the guts to stand in front of me and talk to me anyhow. Valerie! You have bitten more than you can chew. Bold of you to think that I’ll allow you to marry Damian. Damian is mine. I’m never going to allow anyone take him from me even if I will die trying!”
I picked my phone to call Jade. Jade has to be of use for me now.
“Jade, I can see you have relaxed so much. You have forgotten the assignment that was given to you.”
“Claire, I can’t keep doing this for you. Why can’t you just allow Damian and Valerie to be? We have both tried to separate them but the lovebirds keep getting stronger. Just give up.”
“You want me to give up right? I suppose it’s high time the whole world sees the sex tape of their favorite celebrity model.” I sad with a smirk.
“Claire, you can’t continue to threaten me with this forever. Please, I beg you. Don’t expose that video to the world.”
“You don’t have to beg me. All you have to do is to make sure that stupid marriage does not happen and your secret will be safe with me. Why is it so difficult?”
“It’s…not easy. I have tried. Please!” Jade was sobbing.
It feels good to hear her cry over the phone. It would have been more magical if she were present in this room, so that I’ll watch her grovel at my feet. It’s good to hold people at their weak point and make their weakness to become your strength.
“I’m not here to listen to your noise. This is your last warning and infact, you have today and tomorrow to accomplish the mission that I gave you. Otherwise, you will be sorry.” With that, I ended the call.

Valerie’s POV
When I got home, I unpacked my box and slept for a short while. The time was 2 pm wen I got dressed and decided to go my store.
When I got to my office inside the shop, I was buried into a pile of work which has accumulated due to my absence from work. I was busy sending mails to my customers when I heard a knock on the door.
“Yes, come in.” Actually, I don’t want to see anyone right now. But, I have no choice.
My blood froze when I saw the visitor. It was Jade. Why on earth is she here again, after Damian warned her to leave me alone.
She shut the door and began to walk towards me.
“Why are you here? Haven’t you done enough?”
“Hmph! You are weak and pathetic, Valerie. So you told Damian about what I told you. What were you expecting him to do to me? Hit me? Or send me to jail? You’re a loser, Valerie.”
“If there is anyone who is a loser here, it’s you. I know about what happened between you and Damian. Now, you are trying everything in your power to get him back. Just bear it in mind that all your efforts will fail because we are getting married in two weeks.”
“What makes you think Damian is the right guy for you? Why do you think he is your missing rib? You have no idea of what Damian is capable of doing to you when you cross his path.” Jade said.
The next moment, the office door opened and Damian was standing at the door. Looking as charming as ever. My lips broke into a smile as I fixed my eyes on him and Jade turned immediately in the direction of my eyes.
As soon as she saw Damian, she staggered backward before she regained her stance. Damian walked into my office, ignoring Jade. He had a bouquet of flowers which he held in his left hand and hid it behind.
I smiled unconsciously as I walked up to him for a hug. But instead he kissed me. The kiss lingered for a few seconds. I broke off the kiss because I was so shy. He handed the flowers to me and they smelled so nice.
“How is your day going, Babe? I hope you haven’t stressed yourself too much. I brought these flowers because when I saw them, it looked so beautiful and they reminded me fo you.”
“Awwn, Thank you.” My face was red with blush. I couldn’t hold the happiness any longer, I drew him in for another hug.
Jade stood there the whole time, watching us. She didn’t say a word and Damian acted like she was invisible.
“You know that I love you. I couldn’t help but think about you all day. I couldn’t wait to have you in my arms” Damian said as he kissed my lips again and continued to kiss my neck.
“Damian, we’re in public. You can have me once we are inside.” I said as I tried to move away from his embrace. I was too shy to look him in the face.
“Speaking of which, I noticed someone when I came in.” He said as he broke off the hug and turned towards Jade. Jade’s countenance changed suddenly and she began to stagger backwards.
“What are you doing here after all my warnings to you?” Damian bellowed.
