Dawn POV
“Do you think this is gonna fool them?” I asked for the tenth time as I checked myself out in the restroom mirror.
We just got here at the mall, and I’m trying to give myself a look that won’t give me out.
“I bet you wanna go out there and ask the guard directly.” Mia rolled her eyes, her lips pursed thinly
Hey! This is not my fault, I’m just being careful.
I’m not quite sure if I won’t give myself out by dressing like a high school girl.
Putting on a short flared skirt, a white shirt, and a muffler around my neck, with my hair packed in a tight ponytail and rolled in a bun.
“C’mon,” Mia pulled me slightly. “They won’t have the slightest idea that this is you. I mean, why would you dress like a schoolgirl.”
“Tell me what I don’t know,” I rolled my eyes.
“I’ll try as much as possible to hold them down,” she said. “And don’t you dare stay there forever or else, you know what your Dad can do.”
Pretty well.
I grinned and pulled Mia into a tight hug.
“Thank you, Mia,” I sniffed. “Thank you very much.”
“You’re not crying again, are you?” She pulled away, her brows slightly raised, and her lips curved. “Go on, save that tears, baby. We’ve got no time.”
She pushed me toward the door.
I paused to suck in a deep breath, rubbing my chest to calm myself down.
My whole body shook in both excitement and nervousness.
The thought of meeting Ethan excited me so much, but I’m damn nervous about stepping out of the room.
What if… Just what if I’m discovered?
“Go on,” Mia called out. “The clock is ticking.”
Sighing, I unlocked the door and stuck my head out to peep around.
The guards were all standing beside the door, and as their eyes met mine, I suppressed a treacherous gasp that was about to escape from my lips.
“What?” I hissed, rolling my eyes like an arrogant high school girl. “You’re here for the two old ladies in there, aren’t you?”
They stared at me, they’re cocked slightly raised.
Ugh! I just wanna divert them and stomp on their curiosity.
I am not Dawn. No! Dawn is not me!
“Hey! Young girl!” The mean-looking one snapped. “Aren’t you gonna get going?”
Yeah! Stupid them! I would pass them without them knowing.
I smirked, stepping outside fully and closing the door behind me.
“In case you don’t know,” I smirked. “But those old folks are old enough to care for themselves. I mean, I see no reason why you should follow them with your eagle eyes like a demon.”
The mean-looking one growled, his goatee bristled and his eyes hardened as they glared at me murderously.
Oh, Dawn! Have you gone too far?
“Out!” He snapped.
I rolled my eyes, sparing them a long glare before I walked out of the place.
Such a dumbass. Just a little change on my face, and with a muffler around my neck made them blind.
Well, yeah! It’s for my good.
I silently giggled, skipping down to the Mall’s lounge.
I called Ethan earlier, and he said we should meet there.
My heart skipped a beat, breath held as my eyes landed on Ethan who was sitting on one of the chairs, legs crossed, arms folded, and eyes staring around.
Oh, wait! Did he look kind of sick and he happened to have lost some weight?
And what happened to his long blonde hair?
I sighed, tightening the muffler around my neck as I walked up to him.
Right! This is my fault, but there is no time to be feeling guilty right now.
“Ethan?”
Ethan snapped his gaze up to him, his eyes widened, lips slightly agape as he stared at me
He’s not looking surprised, and if he’s happy to see me, he’s not showing it.
“Ethan, are you okay?”
Ethan sighed. He graced his tongue over his lower tongue, moistening it and making it more tempting.
Right! This is not how I fantasized about our meeting.
I had thought he’d come running to me as soon as he saw me and give me a tight hug and a deep kiss.
Oh right! He must go through a lot and despise me so much.
“Won’t you take your seat?” He said.
I frowned but took my seat anyway. That’s some kind of a warm welcome, isn’t it?
“Coffee?”
I nodded.
Ethan called out to one of the waiters who brought two cups of coffee to our seat.
My heart was thumping so hard it hurt. Different kinds of thoughts whirling through my mind and Ethan’s eyes won’t leave me.
Oh, God! Make him say something. Stop him from gazing at me like that.
I wrapped my hand around the warm coffee, biting my lower lip at intervals.
Make him say something, please.
“Have you been well?” He finally mumbled.
“Well…” I sighed. “Yeah.”
Ethan nodded. Something passed through his eyes, but before I could make out what it was, it disappeared, making me think I’d imagined it.
Of course, I had better have.
I adjusted the muffler around my neck, using the chance to pick on my fingers.
Ethan looked as though he’s many things to say, but didn’t know where to start.
There are many things I want to say to him too. Tons of them.
“Listen…”
“Why?” Ethan cut me off. “Why did you do that?”
“I had no choice.”
Ethan scoffed. Angrily, he ran a hand through his hair and passed a frustrated tongue over his lips.
“No choice?” He chuckled. “You didn’t believe me? You thought I could have been with Mia at the hotel right. You thought I would do that, didn’t you?”
Tears already filled his teal eyes. It’s all his burst of emotions, and I can feel it.
But what can I do? I had no choice.
Dad is going to ruin him if I stay one more night with him.
“Ethan…” I shook my head.
“You left me!” He snapped. “Do you know how much that hurts? No! You probably have no idea… ”
“I sincerely had no choice, Ethan.”
“Of course,” he chuckled. “But to marry that asshole. You have no choice but to leave me! You fucking have no choice… ”
In a flash, I skipped up from my seat and jumped on his lap, placing my lips on his to stop him from saying anything else.
Does he not know? That he’s hurting me with his word?
How dare he? Huh? I took the risk to be here but he won’t even listen to me.
Fine! It’s my fault! Damn! Not like I wanted this to happen.
Wrapping my hand around his neck, I deepened the kiss, not caring about the bystanders or the onlookers.
I do not care. I do not give a damn! I missed this man before me.
Ethan tried to push me away, but I flattened myself against his body, arms tightly around his neck as I gave him a great bite on his lower lip.
He gasped, and using the chance, I shoved in my tongue.
Damn him! He won’t cut me off just because of some silly arranged marriage
“Dawn…” He moaned.
Just kiss me back, asshole.
As though he heard my thought, I felt Ethan’s tight grip on my waist, taking over the kiss.
His tongue swept every corner of my mouth, deeply, demanding, and possessing.
Ethan poured every of his damn emotion into the kiss. His nails dug deep into my waist.
The pain, the anger, the love, and the longing.
Not only have I spent my days sulking in my room because I miss him, but he also does too.
He misses me, doesn’t he?
We both disengaged from the kiss to catch our breath.
“Ethan,” I called, cupping his cheeks. My eyes darted too quickly from his eyes to his swollen lips.
Oh! How good to see that again. To see his lips swollen because of my kiss.
I placed a brief kiss on his lips and giggled.
“Kitten”
And how much I’ve missed that name.
I giggled.
“I missed you, kitten.” He said.
“I’m sorry,” I mumbled. “But I truly believe you, Ethan. I just have to act like that because of my Dad”
Ethan sighed. “You do?”
“You won’t do that to me,” I nodded. “and not with that bitch.”
Ethan smiled. He kissed my cheeks and my lips briefly.
“You’re going to tell me everything, right?”
“Yeah!” I nodded. But then, there’s something he’s got to know.
Grabbing his hand, I placed his palm on my stomach.
What if.. what if he denies it? What if he doesn’t want me to have the baby?
I tried so hard to compose myself and stop my mind from wrapping around that dangerous thought.
Ah! I can do it. I should do it.
“What?” Ethan raised his brows, his eyes moving from my eyes to my stomach. “Are you okay?”
“Huh?” I bit my lower lip, stopping myself from shaking nervously.
“I… I..”
“What? Are you okay?”
I closed my hand, fist clenched, teeth gritted, and my breath held.
If anything, I don’t wanna see the look on his face when I said it. At least, it’s gonna hurt less if he’s going to deny it.
“I think I am pregnant.”
