Chapter 56

Book:The Billionaire's Obsession Published:2025-2-8

Ethan’s POV
“Email me every information, I’ll anchor today’s presentation.” I said, without looking up at the staff before me.
“It has been postponed.”
I snapped my gaze up, my frown deepened. “Postponed?!” I growled.
A low yelp escaped her mouth and she took a step back.
“I’m sorry.”
Sorry? As though sorry could cut it.
I’ve been here sitting idle all this while. Damn! I want to do something, I need to keep myself busy to stop thinking about her.
“You go out,” Andre walked in. “I’ll handle the rest.”
It has been so hard living without her. She’s literally my breath, yet she chose to believe their lies.
She did not trust me.
Damn!
Fine! I know her first impression on me wasn’t the best, but I promise to change, and I did.
How could she? Why would she do something so wicked to me?
“Grandpa is not around.” Andre plopped down on the table, settling down a wrapped burger and coffee before me. “You haven’t had anything since yesterday.”
“I want to be alone.” I said gruffly.
I don’t wanna think about her, but she won’t even leave my mind.
Her curly brown hair kept appearing in my eyes. Her intoxicating smile and her mesmerizing brown eyes that glint merrily kept torturing me.
I don’t want to see her. No! She fucking betrayed me.
“Let it out,” Andre said.
He grabbed my shoulder and lifted up my chin with his other hand.
“Cry it out, dude.” He whispered. “It’s okay. I’m here.”
I blinked up at Andre and he gave me a nod.
“Go on,” he muttered. “Cry it out.”
My tears rolled down like a wheel. The tears I’ve been holding since forever.
I let it down, howling loudly.
I don’t know it hurts this much. No! I had no idea it’s ever gonna hurt this much.
“I love her!” I cried. “I fucking do!”
“I know,”
Andre hugged my head to his chest, muffling my loud howl. His large palm kept gliding up and down my back, telling me to go on releasing my tears.
“She did not…” I cried. “She did not trust me.”
I know it’s hard, but she could just give me a chance to explain. Just a few seconds would have been better.
I let out my tears, pouring my every emotion into it.
The pain
The anger
And the torture she left me.
“It’s okay,” Andre patted me softly.
It took some minutes before my cries died down.
I slowly lifted my head off his chest, looking anywhere but at Andre.
The last thing I want now is Andre telling me how weak I am to be crying because of a girl.
“Look at me,” Andre said.
“No!” I shook my head strongly. “you can go back to your…”
“Stop beating yourself up,” he chuckled, forcefully turning my head to himself.
Alright! That’s not the look I expected from him.
He’s not mocking me, nor does he look like someone who’s going to diss at me soon
“It’s okay to not be okay, Ethan. Why act strong?”
I bit my lower lip, wiping the little tears off the corner of my eyes.
“You loved her so much and I’m sure she feels the same for you.”
“No!” I threw him a dirty glare. “She would have listened to my explanation if she did.”
“Now you’re acting like a child,” he snorted. “I won’t blame you though, this is your first time being in love.”
“As if you’re any different.” I hissed.
Andre moaned. He rubbed the bridge of his nose and jumped down from the table.
“I got you your ring”
At the mention of the ring, my frown deepened. I felt my heart tightened remembering why I had sent Andre the ring
I had wanted to propose to her. I thought grandpa would accept it and support me if I date her since I proved him wrong.
Instead, he planned my wedding with that two faced bitch.
“You keep it,” I hissed. “I have no use for it anymore.”
“It’s yours.”
I grunted.
“I mean,” Andre chuckled dryly. “I have no one to give it to.”
“And me?” I snapped. “Should I give it to that bitch then?.”
Andre gave me one uncertain look. He sighed. “You’ll need this,” he mumbled. “Trust me.”
He dropped the ring box on the table and looked up at me again.
“And take something. If Dawn should come back, I’m sure she won’t be happy to meet you half dead.”
What if I’m half dead? Does it mean anything to her?
She left me! She fucking did.
I ran my tongue over my lower lip, looking anywhere but at Andre. I won’t want him to see me trying to hold back my tears just because of her.
“I will be going now,” he thumped me on the back. “And don’t work yourself up.”
Andre tutted loudly, and with a last slap on my shoulder, he sauntered out of the room.
I leaned back on the table, my eyes on the black shiny ring box.
For some reason, I want to keep it and give it to the rightful owner, but then again, what right do I have?
I hissed, taking my eyes off the ring.
The look on her face, the glint in her eyes yesterday haunt me.
She’s sad, but I’m the one getting mad.
Fetching my phone out of my pocket, I tapped it on and scrolled to my inbox.
My message was read, but she won’t reply to me.
It’s been so since yesterday. She won’t pick my calls, nor would she reply to my message.
Is that how much she loves me?
I was about to drop my phone when it beep.
Like a flash, I had scrolled down to the incoming message and opened it.
A hiss escaped my lips, my gaze fell on sighting Andre’s message.
“Eat something, and take a rest. You look worse with that look, baby.”
I chuckled at his last statement.
Dropping the phone back, I stood on my feet to take a walk to my office lawn.
Staying here seems suffocating, sitting on that chair is like a torture.
Coz, anytime my eyes caught her seat, all I see is her sitting behind her desk and flashing me a beautiful smile.
How we’d make out in the office, on my chair and table ceased to leave my mind.
She’s torturing me… with everything she’s got.
“You missed me?”
I groaned. My hand clenched.
Even if I want to entertain someone’s present, it definitely won’t be that bitch.
“Let it go!” I wrenched her arms off my midriff, turning to throw a glare at her.
Mel stepped back, pulling her flowing hair out of her chest.
She’s wearing a sleeveless top over a straight black skirt.
“Why so uptight?” She pouted. “Didn’t you get this for me?”
She raised the ring box and I snatched it out of her hand.
Throwing her a harsh glare, I hissed. “Don’t dare touch my things!”
Mel chuckled.
She tilted her head forward, letting a smirk tugged at the corner of her lips.
“I told you,” she whispered. “I’d call it off if you…”
“I’d rather spend my night with a dog than spend it with you!”
“You!” She huffed, her face contorted with fury mixed with contempt.
My gaze followed her fisted hand up to her hardened gaze.
“Fine!” She snarled. “And I’d wait here and see how you’re gonna get back to that bitch!”
“I’m warning you, Mel!”
Mel laughed, her laughter lasting for a minute making me wonder what’s so funny.
I creased my brow, curiosity latched on my face.
A mockery glint settled on her eyes. Mel, undoubtedly, knows something I have no idea of.
“She truly loves you, doesn’t she?” She tutted, slowly wrapping her arms around her midriff. “I can see how strong that bond is.”
She let out a fake outrage of cry, a small smirk tugging the corner of her lips.
“It hurts baby, that the bitch left you for your brother.”
“What?” I hissed, eyes slightly raised.
What is she babbling about?
“She would have listened to you if she truly loved you like you claim.”
I mentally agree with that, but I’d be damned to voice it out to this bitch.
I’d rather die than see her have the last laugh.
Mel inclined forward and stopped a foot before me. She leaned her head forward, her hot breath hungrily fanning my face.
“You see,” she mouthed.
Something settled at the pitch of my stomach. I suddenly have this unsettled feeling about what she’s about to say.
Of course, it won’t be something in my favour. She won’t be having this kind of smirk if it’s.
I sighed, pushing her slightly away with my finger.
“Get out.”
“No. Not until I say this.”
“Don’t you get it!” I growled. “I’m not interested in whatever you’ve got to say.”
Mel snorted. “Of course you’re not,” she tutted loudly. “No one wanted to hear how his supposed lover is to be engaged to his brother today… right this moment, without him having a bit of idea.”
